Maybe they do a quick title switch with Flair, then MVP can brag about beating the 16 time world champion for the US belt.
-
Well, that would help Biggio get to 3000, I guess.
-
Yeesh...the Brewers just scored nine runs in one inning against the Astros, including a grand slam by Johnny Estrada. Guess they'll be taking another series.
-
They'll probably do three or four generic matches, making sure to get in all the new guys, and call it a night.

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
Dobbs 3K replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
That's pretty much a given, seeing how they had Vince appear on television last night. (Yes, I know the Mr. McMahon character is technically different, but still...) -

Pegasus, where the heck are you getting that he even watched the PPV? -
Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
Dobbs 3K replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
This is all just so messed up and sad. I'm not trying to be hyperbolic here, but I don't think I'm going to feel like watching wrestling for a while after this, assuming these new reports are true and this was more than some freak accident or something. -
Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

I just found out after logging into the chat channel. This just plain sucks. Out of everyone in pro wrestling, not that anyone would deserve something so horrible to happen, but definitely not Chris Benoit and his family. Just awful news. -
Man who raped 10 year old girl given 2 years in jail
Dobbs 3K replied to Atticus Chaos's topic in Current Events
Yeesh, I figured this was going to be a story somewhere in the US. I guess our court system is as messed up as anywhere else. -
Wow, guess people really weren't interested in this show, just judging by the size of this thread. Meltzer's notes make it sound like it's been pretty awful so far.
-
Didn't see this reported on the board yet. JHawk talked about it on his show. From Meltzer's site: "Shane Bower, who wrestled as Biff Wellington for Stampede Wrestling in the late 80s, passed away within the past few days. According to area wrestler Steve Rivers, Bower's parents found him this morning at home in bed, as they were concerned because they hadn't heard from him. Medical officials when examining the body believe he had been dead for a few days. Bower was a top worker in the days of Owen Hart, Brian Pillman, Chris Benoit, Hiroshi Hase and so many others. He was also Benoit's tag team partner in what is believed to have been Benoit's first major U.S. mainstream match match as part of a WCW international tag team tournament."

I'm listening to it right now, and think it's decent so far. Audio quality could be slightly better, but is not horrible.

Boyfriend of missing pregnant woman held for murder
Dobbs 3K replied to milliondollarchamp's topic in Current Events
If he did it, just kill him and be done with it already. -
The Milwaukee Bears beat the Kansas City Monarchs last night to take the series. That's 9 of their last 10, folks.

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that Cecil apparently took part of Prince's signing bonus without his permission a while ago, too (it was discussed in a recent SI article). Respect that.
-
Blasphemy.
-
I get the feeling Cecil might be waiting for a while. Maybe Cecil should have respected his family and not blown all his money on gambling and junk investments.

Anyone have any tips on getting an everyday starting gig with a team? I'm in the second year of a contract with the Mets (I was with the Brewers my first year, then they made a bunch of moves and released me), and my MLB career average is like .389, but they keep wanting to use me as a backup utility guy. Should I complain to the manager more often? AAA is way too easy, but that's where they're starting me out again for my third season.

If you're talking about the episodes on Ion, I believe you're right. Also, a lot of the original music has been replaced (as discussed in the DVD thread). The episodes don't "feel" exactly like they did when I originally watched them. Also, the local Ion station comes in really fuzzy on our cable system for some reason...it happens on all our TVs, and the quality of the signal is much worse than any other channel we get. Weird.

How about the fact that they keep electing the same incompetent representatives, or that someone can get murdered in broad daylight in the streets, and no one is willing to come forward and say anything?
-
I can't say I remember that one. Pro Stars sucked, btw. Check this one out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDpDOrH01_4 Always came on after Thundercats when I was a kid.

Yeah, he's in denial. Milwaukee has a black alderman who's being investigated for election fraud (IIRC, there may have been some other stuff, he's been involved in a lot of incidents) and his father is a notorious racist, who recently said he was glad when the mother of a local talk show host died in a fire. Oh yeah, there were also something like seven shootings in Milwaukee's inner city a couple nights ago. Go figure.
-
Oh, heck, I'll add one. This article is from wtmj.com, which yes, is fairly right-wing, but this is worth reading. It's also worth noting that Milwaukee's many other festivals haven't had these sorts of problems. It brings to question when and how you hold a certain segment of the population accountable. Milwaukee has this annual "Juneteenth" festival which celebrates the end of slavery in the US, and it turned violent at the end this year. Juneteenth Will Continue; Milwaukee Leaders React to Beating By Chris Lato and Dan O'Donnell An organizer of Milwaukee's Juneteenth festival says the event should continue, despite the outbreak of violence this week. The aftermath of Juneteenth is making national headlines. The violence included the beating of an innocent man by an angry mob, and it was caught on video that has gone over various web sites and news organizations. Organizer Mack Weddle says Juneteenth doesn't deserve the bad rap. "It's not the festival," said Weddle. "This is what's happening in other cities. "What we need to do as adults, and as parents is we need to have better control of our children." Weddle says he met with police to discuss a strategy to prevent violence next year. Milwaukee Leaders React to Beating Two days after a man was pulled from his car and brutally beaten after Milwaukee's Juneteenth celebration, area leaders are weighing in on what should be done. "Some of these neighborhoods are going to have to be occupied by the police 24-7," said Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke. "I drive through the city of Milwaukee a lot, and the area of 12th and Chambers is controlled by the Gangster's Disciples." On Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Mid-Day with Charlie Sykes, he urged Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett to sign a gang loitering ordinance, which was approved by the Common Council this week. "Put your John Hancock on it and move on to the next issue so that we can reclaim the streets," Clarke said of the measure, which would allow law enforcement officers to disperse known gang members who are loitering on city streets. "It would give the people in the city of Milwaukee some confidence that somebody's in control, somebody's in charge, and somebody's going to do something about what's going on." Yet not everyone is convinced that inner-city violence like that which occurred after the Juneteenth celebration is unique to Milwaukee. "I would venture to say that if you looked at other metropolitan urban areas, there are comparable incidents that are occurring," said Common Council President Willie Hines moments after discussing the beating with CNN. "That doesn't make the incidents any more palatable, but the unfortunate reality is that they do occur in urban environments." Hines told CNN that he doesn't believe that there are any "racial tensions that exist within the city of Milwaukee," prompting his interviewer to respond with an incredulous "We will take you at your word on that." Clarke disagrees, saying the problems within Milwaukee's black community have been left untreated for far too long. "It's like anything else," he said. "If you have a car and you neglect it and don't change the oil or the transmission and then drive 100,000 miles, you're going to have more expenses with that car down the road." Weird. I didn't know WWE.com had an "alumni" section until just now. Seems like something for guys that used to work there, but aren't HoFers yet, and might come back in the future at some point (other than Yokozuna, obviously).

Ending the representation rule would be a big middle finger to smaller market teams like the Royals and Devil Rays. As a Brewers fan, there were many years where I only tuned in to see someone like Paul Molitor, Dan Plesac, or Geoff Jenkins as the sole representative of the team I followed. Yeah I know that "this is supposed to be about the best players" but every fan should get the chance to see at least one of their guys playing in the All Star Game. I do agree about toning down the commercialism, though it will never happen. I'm sure a lot of that has to do with FOX more than MLB.
