Religious Tolerance & Religious Moderation Are a Joke
Dobbs 3K replied to Big Ol' Smitty's topic in Current Events
Eh...when I was a kid, Chronicles of Narnia was always presented as a Christian alternative to Lord of the Rings and the various D&D books. -
Anybody know? I never remember hearing about it. Wasn't this around the point where Sharmrock decided he wanted to get out of wrestling and try UFC again? That would explain it.
-
Well, I believe the storyline is going to play out as Vince faked the bombing himself because he was going nuts and needed to get away, or he found out about the planned bombing and then pretended to get killed in it, basically also to get away. I could be completely wrong, but either of those explanations would explain the police not arresting anyone (and who says they won't, on TV at least?)

I bet Lee gets suspended for a couple games.

Brewers beat the heck out of the Twins last night at the Metrodome, 11-3. Geoff Jenkins hit his career 4th grand slam, and Prince Fielder hit his 24th homer of the season. The Brewers have won three in a row since getting no-hit. Don't know if it was already discussed, but since Chris Capuano has gone on the DL, the Brewers have called up top pitching prospect Yovani Gallardo from AAA. He may start on Monday.

I'm glad a couple other people are finally agreeing with me on this...I've been complaining about it forever. Baseball players are supposed to be professional athletes, not mercenaries for hire. It's really not fair to the other players, and MLB should put in a rule. Maybe like if a player hasn't reported to a team by the end of spring training, they're ineligible to play that season, or something.

Personally, I'm fine with keeping the DH in one league, and one league only. The different style of play between the two leagues isn't a bad thing, but I think every team can adapt once in a while for interleague games.
-
MLB (because it's the only sport I follow consistently enough): - Move one of the Florida teams...hate to say it, but probably the Marlins, even though they've won two championships. Move them out west to Las Vegas or Portland or something. Get them to switch to the AL and put them in the West. Move the Pirates to the NL East. There, you've got six divisions of five teams each (rather than having one with four, and one with six). - Yes, this would dictate interleague play throughout the season, which I'm fine with. Lessen the artificial divide between the two leagues. No one but the most ardent baseball purist buys into this separation of the two leagues thing. - Find a way to give the team with the best record the World Series home field advantage. MLB claims they can't do it with all the hotel accomodations and such that have to be booked, but other sports don't seem to have a problem with this. (For the record, I don't mind the All-Star game thing, but this would make more sense). - Speaking of the All-Star Game, lessen the importance of fan voting...make sure the most deserving players at least start. I still feel each team should have at least one player. It would suck to be a fan of a team with no All-Star representative. - I'd keep the playoffs as is. I think MLB has the best playoff system of the four major sports. We don't need half the league getting into the post season. - Salary cap...or significantly increase the luxury tax. - An international draft. It's not fair that only a handful of teams get the chance to acquire the top prospects from overseas. It's time to open up these players to everyone. - Force the umpires to utilize the Questec (or whatever system) for balls and strikes. The umpires would still relay the calls from the system, so none of them would lose a job or anything. - Limit the amount of special uniform days or other such things. It's getting out of hand with pink bats, armed forces baseball caps, Negro League uniforms, retro days, etc. Limit each team to four gameday uniforms and that's it. - Do whatever possible to expand youth baseball development programs. I don't think baseball is on the big decline with kids like some people think, but every bit can help.

WWE General Discussion for June 2007

Any way this doesn't end in Cena retaining? The wildcard is Foley. I'm wondering if there's any further storyline that's going to come out of him being in the match. -

Do I feel like talking religion with C-Bacon? The answer: No. -
Mr. McMahon "dead" - Now for the "whodunit" angle.

Maybe they'll bring Ventura in to be the new WWE Chairman. -
The Brewers just got done beating the Tigers, 6-5. So, they take the series, even after getting no-hit a couple days ago. I guess Verlander woke them up a little bit. Ben Sheets also got his 1,000th career strikeout today, which is nice.
-
"Mrs. McMahon, who's in charge now that your husband is dead? Why hasn't there been an official press release? WHAT'S GOING ON???"
-
Yeah, apparently, for some odd reason.
-
Verlander was amazing tonight, but the Brewers offense has been totally anemic lately anyway.
-
BWAHAHAHA!! The crowd boos the ten bell salute!
-
Yeah, what about it?

I think WWE is smart enough to realize this is a huge angle they can milk for weeks, if not months. I mean, look at the RAW thread from last night, and how much conversation was generated in there, compared to a typical episode. -
Whatever happened to Devon Storm, anyway? I always thought he seemed pretty decent in the ring.

Because he realized everyone really did hate him, and after getting his ass kicked by Lashley, decided he needed a break from running the company. -

How about this: - Someone else really did plan the explosion. Let's say, Shane, along with Coach and a handful of the wrestlers and personnel. They were sick of Vince, and wanted to take over. Vince found out in advance, but decided to play along and make it look like he really was blown up. So, he managed to fake it (I have no idea how, but WWE would come up with something), and comes back later after a long vacation being a genetic jackhammer in Tahiti, or something. -

I thought the guy in the hat looked like Trevor Murdoch, so I assumed it was Cade and Murdoch, but I could be wrong. -
I liked RAW last night, sue me. The matches were at least decent, and some of the Vince "tributes" were entertaining, particularly Bret Hart's. Yeah, Smackdown got shafted, as expected, but we'll know more about how the show is affected come Friday. There's still that supplemental draft on Wednesday (though I expect someone like Stevie Richards or Eugene will be the biggest name drafted), and maybe they'll announce a trade or something later this week like they have in past years. I wasn't expecting the limo explosion...I thought maybe Vince was just going to walk away, with no one knowing where he is. I guess this is the same thing, in a more roundabout fashion.

Why does Benoit look like he just had a stroke in that pic?

I have a friend who's going to love this Jackass shit, but personally I couldn't care less.
