Yeah, Anya... I actually played it in Best Buy awhile back and I had fun with it... nice to see most of my tactics with Taki still work.

I don't know, the Spurs seem to be a step slow tonight, and Dalla has been shooting well and pushing it when they can. Considering that Van Horn is a defensive liability (and I am being nice), no wonder has picked up three fouls.

I'll be happy when SC3 goes $20.

I didn't even watch most of games 4 and 5 because the Pistons were not playing like they are famous for, even under the Flip Era: Defense, Defense, Defense. They were keying too much (and yes, there is such a thing as too much) on LeBron and letting the shooters destroy them on the perimeter. Game 6 was the adjustment that had to be made. Give LeBron different looks defensively and get to him immediately once he puts the ball on the floor. He may have sick amounts of talent but he is STILL 21 and will make mistakes. The problem is that by stretching this series out to seven games, LeBron's learning curve on how to win flattened out considerably. He is going to be a nightmare for the league for many years to come. Game 7 was what games 4 and 5 should have been. Screw boring, only short attention span, i-need-action-now kind of people would rather watch the Suns win a 135-132 game where its a layup/dunk drill and 3 point shooting practice and no defense is being played at all. Fuck that, give me a game where offense comes in spurts, runs are being made at key times and defense is being played by both teams, and being played well.

Because the joysticks suck for the most part. People seem to forget that you are standing up when you use a joystick at an arcade.

There's more to being good at Tekken than beating the computer. The computer sucks. The computer sucks in every fighting game, including SF and KOF. You don't have to know all the moves and crap to be able to beat KOF or SF. Everyone can beat these games. Nobody cares if you can easily beat the computer. To prove this point, I once played through Clay Fighter blindfolded. I won. Every fighter in every game has a pattern. One you learn the pattern, you can beat the game rather easily. Later incarnations of SF were better at hiding them, but you can still figure it out. The same goes for any other fighting game.

As slow and awkward as his game appears to be, there are damned few players that can stop Nash one on one. How often do you think that his man cuts him off from going right, only for Nash to do a half-speed crossover back to the left and get into open space for the layup or dish to a teammate on the wing or in the corner for a wide open three, because help came? It amazes me sometimes... its like that Bugs Bunny cartoon where he is playing every position, says "I think I'll perplex him with my slowball", then delivers this snail's pace pitch that strikes out the entire side in one pitch? That's Nash's game to me.

I'm not saying that there is a Scottie Pippen tree out there somewhere. LeBron needs a player that can do the things Scottie did once he came into his own (more later). Defend, score, distribute, and rebound, more of less in that order. Be enough of a threat that LeBron could lean on him in stretches where either his shot isn't going or he is drawing a lot of defensive attention. Varejao shows some signs of being that guy, but not for another two years at least. Not only that, LeBron HAS to develop a consistent jumper in the next year or two, if only to make the other facets of his game that much more effective. And to my second point, Scottie wasn;t awesome from the moment he put on a Bulls uniform. It took him about three years to develop his game to where he could alleviate some of the pressure teams were putting on Jordan. In his rookie year he pretty much relied on his athleticism and little else. The future is pretty bright for the Cavs if they continue to build around LeBron, but they aren;t there yet. I said it when LeBron started getting all of his run in high school, and Kobe before him, and T-Mac before him: People are so fucking desperate for the next Jordan, that anyone that even approaches his level of talent gets hyped as such.
-
Combine that with getting a player willing to play Scottie Pippen to LeBron's MJ, and one or two other good role-players, and look the hell out. I think he might be ahead of the curve MJ was on en route to a title or two. Larry Hughes isn;t the answer, methinks. He's a good enough player, but he doesn;t truly fit what the Cavs need to make it to the next level.
-
That is an excellent Mara Jade, even though the hair needs to be redder and the lightsaber purple.
-
I don;t know, they almost let the Cavs back into the game.... I was worried until they locked down and the Cavs couldn;t hit shots consistently... I had though it was going to be another blowout.
-
If the Nets can distribute their scoring more evenly, the Heat won't make it past 6 games.
-
Absolutely, though the little slump he went into towards the end of the regular season hurt what little chances he had.
-
Until the next game starts, I'm going to go with the flow. KG on the Bulls is frightening. He's only in his late 20s/early 30s, and is an established veteran in the league. If that goes down, look the hell out.

I'm not going to even get on the boat in this debate anymore. Laker fans are just a little too blind in their defense of Kobe, and anyone who criticizes him is deemed a hater. My final take on this is that Kobe has not put it all together yet. He hasn;t learned to combine being a team player and playing within the offense with the score-at-will mentality. I kept waiting for him to just take the game over and try to will the Lakers back into game 7, but he did not. There comes a time in that situation if you can score at will on the man defending you, you keep busting his ass until he stops you, or they send someone to double, *then* you distribute. What I saw last night was someone trying to make a point to his coach, just like Barkley said. I saw him do it in previous years, and I hated him for doing it then, too. Whether or not its the truth, those actions smack of someone putting "being the man" over winning a playoff game. Moving right along from that argument.... While I expected the Pistons to win game 1, I wasn't expecting a through and complete squashing of Cleveland. I'm at a loss for words as to how to describe that game. Seeing how it took the Spurs down to the last second to beat Dallas (and as an aside, Jerry Stackhouse is a total dumbass for passing up an 18 footer to try and win it from 3 with Ginobili draped on him like a cheap suit), I just can't see any team beating the Pistons if they continue to play like that... wow.

Personally, I'm glad that the Cavs won. It will be an easier time for the Pistons, as LeBron doesn;t quite have the supporting cast yet to win. Washington had Arenas an a capable scorer in Butler, a combination that gave the Pistons fits during the regular season. Not to even mention that they are going up against a team on a mission. Pistons in 5 where it might have gone the distance with the Wizards. Always take the road less traveled, my friends.

Considering that I have a friend whose husband is so into it, he can;t be bothered to try and save his unstable marriage, he would rather go to a WoW conference instead. The defense rests, your honor.
-
That was the best athlete/host confrontation ever, even if Rome went five year old before Jim Everett jumped him.
-
I agree that there should be reseeding when the playoffs start. Dallas and SA should NOT be playing in the second round when they are 1-2 in their conference, not to mention overall record.

Just the thought of that makes my brain hurt. I have to say that Burnout 3 is the most fun driving game I have ever played, and yes that includes Forza Motorsport, which I pimped excessively. Lego Star Wars is an excellent game from the standpoint that you go through all of the movies, IIRC, from Episodes I to VI.

No reason to risk suspension. I'm positive that it was a Jackson mindgame to get him suspended. If that's the case, it worked like a charm. Never mind that both Phil and Kobe are masters of mental games or anything....

That's the way it always has been, even before the infamous "Jordan Rules". The star players in the league get the benefit of the doubt by the refs, at times even preferential treatment. Why do you think LeBron is seen talking calmly to the refs most of the time? Because if you give them respect, they may give you the benefit of the doubt down the road. I remember seeing earlier in the thread some talking about the egos of the refs, particularly the senior refs. That couldn;t be any more true. And X, just nevermind, bro. I could say a hell of a lot, but I can see it is going to fall on deaf ears, so I am not going to bother.

My god, that was awesome... Regal and Finlay stiffing the living shit out of each other... too bad the match ended they way it did.

What he said.

X, look, I know you and I went at it about Kobe last year, but sheesh, be a fan and not some paranoid guy who thinks that everyone who says anything even remotely critical or negative about your team is a hater. That being said, Bell did not have to go Stan Hansen on Kobe, no matter how many times he got elbowed. He lost control of himself, and did something out and out stupid. Finis. I agree with Cena's Writer. It looks like Kobe got in his head.
