I have to admit that I am kind of rooting for Isaiah to get the Indiana job, just so those not-so-subtle racist fucks can start crying for Mike Davis to come back. While he wasn't the answer down there in Bloomington, Davis deserved a fucking fair shot and he never got it because he was following a coaching legend and his skin was the wrong color. I hate playing the race card, but it is what it is. Back on topic, what a game between the Pistons and Sonics, and Rip Hamilton tears the heart out of another team's collective chest again. Wow.

I'm going to reverse my earlier staement about LeBron because of the last second play. He did the right thing and said the right thing afterwards, too. Everyone is so hard up to see the next Jordan its ridiculous. To wit, Michael scored a ton of points at the age LeBron is now, but the Bulls didn;t do shit. Why? Because he needed the right players around him, and secondly, he had to learn to get his teammates involved and make them better. Of course he could and did take over games when he needed to, but he needed to learn not to when he wanted to. There is the difference. LeBron is going to get better at taking and making the big shot. We are watching him mature before our eyes, and he is just now learning to walk. Trying to say "he should be running now" is ridiculous. And nawif, are you God that you can make that guarantee that he would have gotten the foul had he gone to the hoop? He did the right thing by passing to a wide open teammate in the corner. You have to be able to trust your teammates as much as they trust you. That's Team Basketball 101. And by him saying in the interview afterwards that he isn;t going to force anything, he was right on. Cleveland fans booing him is just pathetic. They are such a desperate town, and if they don;t watch it, he is going to leave. The only town I think in sports that is more desperate is Buffalo. That little ESPN claymation commerical was so on the money, it made the commercial funnier than it already was.

Its possible, though unlikely that they can. I'm impressed by their play, considering all the ranting against Donald Sterling I have been doing here over the last year or so.

He must have been reading the message board at InsideHoops and all the threads saying he was going to be an All-Star in '05. I shit you not. I'm not surprised by that, and A, you are right on the money with that statement. He did AI a few times and from there the snowball started rolling downhill. Hell, Jerry Sloan couldn;t reach the guy, which is why he ended up in Detroit, and subsequently Orlando. There will be problem with him there in time, I guarantee it.

One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread

If George had balanced his time between storytelling and special effects instead of going 30/70 like he did, Episodes I-III would have been much, much better. -
Exactly. The guy can run an offense, score the ball and defend. I just loved how a lot of people in Detroit were thinking that Arroyo was the difference between the Pistons winning and losing a championship. Fucking please. People were going out of their minds when he and Darko got traded. If he spent his time passing solidly instead of trying to be the Puerto Rican version of Magic Johnson and not whining about minutes, not to even mention learning to play fucking defense, Arroyo would still be here. But that's okay, he is infinitely better suited for the Magic. God only knows they needs players down there to fill up seats in the O-rena. Never doubt Joe Dumars (except on draft day). This had to be the second move he was talking about, and its a good one. Now all the crying knuckle-biters in this town can shut the hell up. The team is 47-10. That's still an 82% winning percentage. I just can;t see Dallas staying as hot as they have been. As long as the Pistons keep winning 4 out of 5 games, they;re going to be fine.

Agreed. Psalm 69 came along at just the right time. My circle of friends were obsessed over it.

When's the last time we had a thread about cover songs?

The Wallflowers are a perfect example of the sophomore jinx, sadly enough. Bringing Down The Horse was a great album, but in a way, it was *too* good, and they couldn;t follow it up. Every time I hear One Headlight or Heroes on my mp3 player, I think "what the hell happened to that guy?" Being Dylan's son couldn;t have helped that much in the long run, either.

Nash would be perfect as a commentator. The guy has charisma and he's funnier than hell. Considering he has to be what, 43, 44, 45, he just does not have too many matches left in him period, regardless of whether they're good or not. I remember when he was on the headset back in WCW, and he was hilarious.

Its going to take a rebuild of the Shelley character in order to make him believeable. He's more comedy right now than anything else, ala Eric Young, whom through the Sting storyline is coming out of that horrible A1 gimmick they gave him. I can;t totally agree that he's got all that much momentum considering what is going on with him at the moment. With the way he's being built now, I would have to say that its going to be Lethal. Homocide is in that rather painful LAX storyline, and its looking it will be a little while before that is resolved. Aries isn;t doing too much right now, either. My question is once the Ultimate X match is over, where the hell are they going to go with those three? Six Sides of Steel? Considering how well they work together, TNA is milking Styles/Danies/Joe to the very end, but the problem with that is that people are really starting to get very tired of it. What's the next step there?
-
And that's fine with me, because I am entertained big-time by Joe, something I wouldn't be if the E got their diseased hooks into him.
-
That's easy. They will laud him to some extent for the accomplishment, and them lambaste him for the steroid issue and being an Olympic-level asshole. You know, what they have been doing for the last three years or so since Balco exploded.

Kellerman is doing King of Vegas, and already he's annoying the fuck out of me. Kornheiser is just a bad move all around. He's going to make the idea of Dennis Miller look genius. Its not going to work at all. Whomever came up with this idea should be run out of Bristol on a rail. As annoying as it could get at times, I liked McGuire and Theismann taking shots at each other through the game. It was amusing and entertaining, and Mike Patrick wasn;t bad as the PBP man, though Tirico is a strong upgrade.

My god this thread has been amusing.

Alph-LYRA did an Image album for SF II, and it is the best music for the ame I have ever heard, aside from the actual in-game music. When I hear it I thank my ex-roommate every day for letting me rip that CD, because I haven't been able to find that album yet, through any means. I developed into a Sagat master by the time Super Turbo came out. The Tiger Knee is a wonderful weapon against fireballs if done correctly. Beating Sagat wasn't hard if you had decent anticipation and didn;t get greedy. Zangief would EAT uppercuts if you did it right. Ken, Ryu, Sagat, all three could crush him with jab uppercuts if you had the timing down.

Got Taito Legends yesterday, and its yet another trip back to my arcade rat days... the controls on games like Elevator Action are not as smooth as they should be, but hell I still got to the 3rd building.

Not to mention that playing for New York is still the biggest stage in sports, period. Boston and Philly are relatively close, but nothing matches the scrutiny that you are put under the second you sign a contract with a New York team. Just ask Randy Johnson. Considering all the needs that the Magic have, getting Jamal Crawford is a step in the right direction. They need a shooting guard that can score, but not be so selfish as to freeze out their big man. I looked at the Francis/Mobley - McGrady trade with a bit of a jaundiced eye, but a change of scenery was needed for both Francis and McGrady, who had worn out their welcomes in their respective towns. And neither player has really taken their team to the next level. You could make an argument for McGrady, but his chronic injuries kind of cancel out what he has done to this point.
-
What about a program that accurately takes audio from video files?
-
Getting Jamal Crawford would be a very big step for the Magic. Now if Darko can prove he can play at least a little bit, 2007 is looking pretty good for the Magic.

They have the right coach this time. Sure he has his set ways, but he can anbd does adapt to changes going on within a game. He should have the respect of pretty much everyone, and its not like he doesn;t have experience as he was an assistant for the '92 Dream Team. And yes, they need Shaq as much as they need a shooter or two. When properly motivated, and even at his age, Shaq can still dominate inside. The question is, will he be motivated? The reason why the majority of the superstars in the NBA didn;t go back in '04 was money, plain and simple. I wasn;t happy with it at all, because some things should transcend money and ego, but then I remembered the league these players came from.
-
They're not bad, but ECW was putting out better shirt in 97 and 98.
-
I have been confused by Zybysko's role ever since TNA started him as "Director of Authority".
-
You want to talk about a crazy scene, Vegas is going to be it next year. I should have stuck with it, but after watching most of the players half-ass it through the first half with the exception of the Pistons, I got bored and turned it off. After watching the '03 All-Star Game (or was it '04?) on ESPN Classic just before that, '06 was a come down. That being said, the NBA All-Star Game is a hell of a lot more legit than any of the other major sports, though at least MLB is trying to make it legit again.

This sucks... Compuware is in my delivery area, only about a 15 minute drive from my apartment, and I am going to be in Chicago that night... I only hope they come back, as I haven't been to a house show since ECW did one in Orlando back in 99. *sighs* But this is a good small step for TNA. Smaller shows, creating a buzz through word of mouth, if the house shows do well, look out.
