Meh..he's someone I'd occasionally play as. Hardcore Holly to...I mean I hate the guy, but for some reason I feel like playing as him. His character model just looks cool... I play as like Atrain and stuff occasionally on HCTP so why wouldn't I use Palumbo at some time? Heh, A-Train gets no love on my PS2. I even banished him from any of my seasons on HCTP. Nah I just do everything within my power to make sure that certain wrestler's SS points go as low a possible....

I jonesed so hard for this game I bought it over the weekend when I was out of town, even though there was no PS2 to play it on. When I got home, I played it for a few minutes, and promptly remembered why I hate PS controllers for fighting games... I set it on medium level and got waxed in short order, showing just how rusty I am.... but thats okay, I will get back into fighting shape in short order.... By the way, is anyone curious abotu the Street Fighter RPG? I know that I am....

I could see Experience Points being handed out for cutting good promos, winning matches, and so forth... there was a wrestling RPG that was actually pretty good, damned if I can remember it... me and my RP buddies would play it for kicks back in the early 90s.... then someone tried to make a wrestling RPG using the d20 system a year or so ago, and nothing came of it.

I was looking for it the other day, and I could not find it. I was not happy because I need my SF II CE version of Sagat. I. Must. Play. Him. I was surprised that my local Media Play did not have it on the 1st.... go figure..

Which DVD is this on? I bought the Torn to Shreds DVD looking for this match, but then realized it was a barbed wire match between Kudo and "Shark" instead. I downloaded it. Emule is a wonderful thing. I love that match, and I marvel that between their wrestling and their anime (hentai in particular), just how utterly demented the Japanese are and can be. But even in such a match the psychology was pretty good, in that Kudo had to break Toyoda down in order to pull most of her moves off. Another match that was good was Sting and Muta vs. The Steiners. Excellent match, though the double-pin ending was kind of a letdown. Another guy I developed instant respect for is Hayabusa, even though he wrestles like an oversized cruiserweight. I also found a couple of Dynamite Kid/Tiger Mask matches... I remember marking out for him when he used to come to MSG back in the day. Wow.

I finally found a good copy of the Owen Hart tribute match between Bret and Benoit, and that is definitely a classic in every sense of the word. I would give it ***** each and every time. after watching that match I *had* to play my Bret CAW against Benoit in a Three Stages of Hell match. That was good stufff, too. Another thing I have been getting into is the FMW stuff, which I love just for the sheer brutality of the matches. I just found Combat Toyoda's final match against Megumi Kudo, and all I can say is daaaaamn. The suplex spots that Kudo busts out at the end are just *sick*. Heh, I have lauding that Vader debut match for a long time... best squash match by far.

I believe the operative phrase is, "too much time on your hands". I saw them selling these things at the local mall here in Ann Arbor, and I don't think twice about it. I actually played Galaga on it for a few minutes. Would I buy one? Hell, no. They look like they will stop working if you so much as breathed on them, much like the original NES system. But as is said before considering they are ripping people off by releasing the classic games one at a time on the GBA at an inflated price, I don't have much of a problem with it, either.

Nah, Zeus/Tiny Lister "snapping" Hogan's neck was better. My all-time favorite still remains this: Piper. Snuka. Coconut. Hilarity. I was such a mark back then.... but every year I saw it, especially when the WWF used the footage for their updates, I laughed harder every time I saw it. Hell, that was about 20 years ago now, and even thinking about it makes me laugh aloud. Running a close second HAS to be the Shockmaster. Anything that can reduce Bobby Heenan to utterly helpless laughter simply CANNOT be all bad. God bless WCW is right.

They could certainly do a better job picking legends, thats for sure. I wonder if the PS3 version of this series will have a total roster with a ton of legends... Well, the PS3 isn;t due out until what, late '05, early '06? Time will tell, I guess.

Final Roster for PS2's WWE SmackDown vs. RAW
Rendclaw replied to David Blazenwing's topic in Video Games
Please. I have no desire to tangle with kids who can't write a complete sentence, much less try to explain to them why X wrestler isn't in the game. I'm more or less agreeing with you, it just makes me chuckle how some in this thread are bitching so much about what turns out to be five wrestlers. And yes, there is always going to be bitching before the release of these games. That goes without saying. It just strikes me as amusing when someone says that they won;t buy a game, or they'll trash it or the companies involved because this or that wrestler isn't in it. Considering that these games Yuke's and WWE put out consistently sell, it stands to reason they aren;t going to change the formula TOO much, and they try and keep the roster up to date. To some extent its like the sports games, basketball in particular. By a certain date, they go with the roster that is the most accurate, not accounting for retirements, trades, injuries and the like. Same thing here. For example, I will bet money that by the time Eugene became such main character, development was in the home stretch. Too late to add him, but they can throw in a moveset and with some creativity, a decent CAW can be made. If thats not good enough, thats too bad, says I. I understand that there are some roster emissions. That always going to happen. HCTPs was the most complete roster they had, and they *still* left off some people that deserved to be on there. The way I see it, every wrestler on the roster should be on there with no exceptions. To me, that would make for a much better experience for the game. But as long as they keep going with the bells and whistles, this kind of thing will always happen. As for the Legends, I don;t have a problem with Beefcake being in there, King. Will I play him? Unless I am forced to in a storyline. I love beating the legends myself, it gives me a nice little sense of accomplishment since they can be as hard to beat as some of them Main Event tier guys, especially when you're trying to build up a CAW. Not to mention the nostalgia of being such a mark for them back in the day. -
Final Roster for PS2's WWE SmackDown vs. RAW
Rendclaw replied to David Blazenwing's topic in Video Games
Stop bitching about the cruiserweights. They aren't all that popular in the eyes of the E, no matter what us fans and smarks might think. This was no fault of Yuke's because they will only put the characters in the game that they are told to, and that is up to WWE. Do I think that there should be more wrestlers in the game? Without a doubt. Do I think that the voice-over feature is a gimmick, and the game would be much better served by removing it? Absolutely. At the same time, the roster is not going to have an impact on my opinion of buying it, because I am going to enjoy making a CAW and running through the entire game at least twice before I turn to making more CAWs and doing the same. Thats what I always do. I know this game is going to be far from perfect, and I am going to do my share of bitching about some facet of gameplay or another. But considering the utter piece of shit that Showdown was, and I really don;t want to spend the extra $$ getting my PS modded in order to get the better Japanese wrestling games, I am willing to go into playing Smackdown vs. RAW with an open mind. Rent it if you must, buy it if you want to, but getting all bent out of shape because a few wrestlers aren't in it? Please. -
Scary is the word for these models, they're so dead-on. I am getting more and more into getting this game... I might just pre-order it, to be sure I have a copy on or shortly after the release date.

The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread

Hey Trivia, can you send me the formulas for Samu and Fatu? I would LOVE the have the SST wreaking outright havoc on my HCTP... -
Bet that as it may, I am still learning thge sytem and I need as few complications as possible.

Or of course you could avoid the situation entirely and turn injuries off. My problem is that I think that I don;t have enough players on my roster and the preseason is over.. I believe that I am at or under the cap.

Lufia 2 was one of a handful of RPGs that had REAL replay value. Not to mention doing the Ancient Cave over and over was enough to stop you from solving the game just so that you could collect the unique items and weapons it had.... I play it in emu, and the last time I hit the Ancient Cave I got down into the middle 80s before I had to teleport out... the story is good, the gameplay is perfect, and its simply was the best RPGs of its time.

I getting more and more eager to play this game... hell, I think I am going to trade my SYM and HCTP in to lower the price, as much as I don't want to start making CAWs all over again....

The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread

That's the best way to make believeable CAWs in my opinion. Much more satisfying too. With the moveset I made and the stats that were suggested for him, my Low-Ki CAW is outright LETHAL at times. -
Diane Duane was the best Trek novelist, hands down. I am in total agreement in that DS9 was best, but by then they had learned to avoid the pitfalls that TNG fell into during its first three seasons. I liked Voyager, though it didn;t start picking up steam until the third season.... and the writing was on the wall when they brought in Seven of Nine.. they knew that Trek was starting to lose momentum when you have to bring in a hot actress to try and boost ratings. They are doing the same thing with Enterprise, though watching the growing relationship between Trip and T'Pol is interesting.

I'm easing into it... I'm starting to see the holes in the line when they open up... still trying to get the passing game down, but I am making progress... and my first exhibition game I crushed the Cardinals, 34-3.

Debacle is right, Anyanka... sheesh. I just want good quality RPGs. Is that too much to ask? I might be old-school, but I would love an RPG that had basic, but updated graphics on the level of Lufia II, with a simple yet deep combat and magic system that is absolutely HUGE in size and depth, maybe on the order of needing 100 hours plus to finish... Oh yeah, a passable story that didn;t screw with my head too much would be a plus. -

Yes, the game is a lot of fun, once you learn not to let any of its shortcoming ruin the experience.... I have tons of fun playing the Steiners of the early 90s, or my namesake CAW.. if it wasn;t for me trying to get the hang of NFL 2K5, I would be playing it right now. -
Just from the TV commercials I saw that this was truly the end for one of the most influential bands of an era and genre of music. After St. Anger came out I was DEEPLY disappointed. For all that noise about the album being like Kill Em All, I kind of knew that they could not recapture that past glory, but I was interested in seeing if it could at least become close. Nope. I agree with about 90% of what Ian said, and he gave a very good take on the state of the band, as it were. It just makes me sad these days.

I still CANNOT believe this game has all of this gameplay and looks great and costs 20 bucks... I have pretty much sucked on football games since they changed them to be much more realistic (I still kick ass on CFUSA 97, but thats about it), but I think that I simply HAVE to get this game, even though I am setting myself up for a lot of frustration and controller-throwing. I liked ESPN NBA Basketball 2K4, and if they make an improved game at $20 price point, I think I will be a fan of them for life.
