    Bret Hart "shoots" on Ole

Stroke or not, he's smearing someone else. You don't have to go any further than the shoot interview to find out what an asshole Ole is, stroke or not.
  2. and it was 1st edition AD&D, not second.

    WWF 1989 Scenario

That was totally awesome, having Bad News going over in his RR match.... and as usual, the Megapowers destroyed the competition... Damn, if I had the time to devote to learning how to play EWR, I would do a fed of my own.

eh, just ignore this idiot and continue on, Corey, even with the curse words. Say it how you feel it.

    Just wondering....

Madcatz controllers suck majorly.... Intec aren't too bad, though they have their drawbacks too. Speaking of that, I need a USB adaptor for my Microsoft Sidewider gamepad for my PC, does anyone know where I can get one?

The Dames' Diatribe on WWE Raw - Jan 19th, 2004

Excellent job as usual, Dames, and take pride in that you have people that appreciate your work.. it always an uplifting thing to know it, and to hear it face-to-face. I know I'm in the minority, but I like the things that Goldberg is doing, the MMA style in the ring, even though he's stiff.... that little backroll he did in order to get distance to set up for the spear was pretty good... the little things that he does in the ring that I think are cool. His selling needs to get better, but its a damn sight better from where it was back in WCW days. Let's face it, he's never going to be a Benoit or anything in terms of workrate, but I think he's getting better.

    The Daredevil Movie

This movie was horrible, straight up. They tried to bank on actor names instead of getting some who could play the role, though I liked Michael Clarke Duncan as The Kingpin, though the role was no stretch by any means. Affleck is plain vanilla as an actor, and that is the BEST thing I can say about him. Garner was miscast as Elektra, and was not very believable at all. And I am in agreement that there was no chemistry betrween them.... I think the best thing about that movie was Colin Farrell as Bullseye.

    WWF 1989 Scenario

The Bolsheviks *were* a jobber team, as Zhukov was always getting pinned, and the Young Stallions, were... are the Young Stallions.

    The sick moments

I just saw the Misawa/Kobashi tribute on clickwrestling, and even thought he match went 47 mins, the 5 mins of that video had me cringing in my seat.... and you say that these guys spent the next oh, 6-7 year doing this shit to each other, never mind anyone else??? Absolutely sick. And I need more of this stuff.

    WWF 1989 Scenario

Conquistador '88? Should I even ask? I am *loving* how vicious Orndorff is... he never should have been turned face in the WWF, even though the subsequent heel turn was a thing of beauty. ::sighs:: how I long for those days, wrestling wise...

The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread

If you have it as a Smackdown, its a good thing, since you can score a pin off of it, but that's about it... it should be tough on that level, but not impossible.

Heh I would, but when I sent someone all of the ROMs I had, it took a long ass time to do.

    Suikoden series

I liked Suikoden 2, I actually started playing it... my roommate has all three, I just decided to play 2 on a lark... its fun, though the character management got to me after awhile... and I only got about 4 or 5 hours into the game.

The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread

I haven't heard anything about it either, and I have owned the game since the third week of december... it works just fine for me, and my PS2 pulls double duty between games and playing DVDs.

It would be cool for Lufia to be represented on the PS2, the size and depth to that game would be massive.

The one and only emulation thread

I think I will do that, once I get over my Lufia 2 jones, and now that I reached the Ancient Dungeon, I doubt that I ever will. I still think that that game is the best RPG ever, in terms of the overall experience. Hmm, whatever happened to Lufia 3, BTW?

    Two-Player Games

No problem at all... Interplay has a great site on BGDA2, which is JUST enough to whet your appetite... I'm down to six days now and I am chomping at the bit. If it gets pushed back again, I am not going to be happy. BGDA was worth full price, but its a steal at $20 now. Another suggestion (if you're old enough to remember the arcade experience; damn, am I showing my age, or what?) is to pick up Midway Arcade Classics. Even though I think that Williams Arcade Classics for the PS1 is a superior product, it was $20 that I don't regret spending, and you get more games out of the deal. Hell, ANYTHING that reminds me of my mall-rat, arcade-hanging, candy-shoplifting-for-sustenance days cannot be bad at all. ::chuckles:: On that tip, Konami Arcade Classics for the PS1 is another gem, if you can find it. I think I only paid $13 for that game, and the memories it brought back through the gameplay was worth it alone, never mind the true arcade translations. Heh, I guess that its an old-school day for me, since I'm touting it so much. NBA Street Volume 1 is good, though I have to say that Volume 2 is better, in that its much easier to pick up and play, where you have to do a lot more thinking in Volume 1. Oh, even though it has a two-player co-op mode, Return of the King is HARD. I thought The Two Towers was tough, but that was just training for the real experience.

The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread

Wrestlemania Arcade was CRAP, plain and simple. I know I'm old school, and maybe even a stick in the mud, but after the fun that was Wrestlefest, to even look at a Wrestlemania Arcade machine made me a little bit ill. As for HCTP, there isn;t much variation in the storylines at all, then again I am using CAWs exclusively. I like how you have to go through the game three times in order to get your CAWs how you want them, though bringing up Low-Ki was the hardest out of them all. Now that I have gone through the story mode like, eight times, I started focusing on the exhibition matches. I have to say that I love the EC match, and the slobberknocker is fun, if a bit too easy, like it was in JBI. Which brings me to another note: is it me, or should all the finishers in the game be more of less equal? There is a list of about 7 or 8 finishers that provide a near instant kill, almost irregardless of when they are used in the match. I find myself wrestling old-school, setting up moves that work on the area that the finisher will damage, getting them at least orange before going for it (then again, playing on Smackdown level, its smart to build up two smackdowns, because more often than not, your first attempt WILL be reversed). But when you get hit with SDs and the area turns yellow, more often than not, you will get pinned. Also, submission holds are WASTED on Smackdown level. I have had opponents busted open, gone for a submission hold to the head and hit the buttons like a madman, and it does not work. That's another thing to be tweaked by THQ. I like having to earn a submission, but when your rating is a 9.5, the area you're attacking is in the red and the hold is locked in, and the meter is not going in your favor no matter *how* fast you hit the buttons, that's a problem.

    TNA Lazarush on TSM

Excellent review, Corey. One of the things that make a good review is the ability to pull the reader into the action as if he is watching the PPV at the least, if not at the event itself. Dames is great at it (he can make a barely watchable WWE card tolerable), and you're well on your way to matching him. I haven't seen a TNA card aside from matches I have been able to glean here and there, and the imagery conjured from your review of the macthes is excellent. Keep it going.

The WWF from 1988 to beyond

I do have to agree with the frequency of the title changes, but aside from that I like what is going on.

::laughs:: I loved Warrior, but that's too classic.... Bad News Brown was too much of a badass to NOT be a champion.

    Two-Player Games

Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance is a great co-op game, better than Gauntlet Dark Legacy IMO. My gf and I enjoy playing BG a lot more than GDL, which should have been better than it was... I like that the game is long, but dammit man, there is such a thing as TOO long. I admit to being a shill for BG, but until Universal pulled the plans to make D&D Heroes for the PS2, BG stays my #1 co-op game. and only 8 days until my copy of BGDA2 arrives..

The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread

Oh yeah, I got that one... its a nice touch. Is it me or are there too few storylines this time out? Oh sure they have a lot of minor ones that stretch out over three shows or so, but there seems to be only eight or so "main" storylines. Personally I'm tired of the female manager storyline because it doesn;t go anywhere past the blowoff. I think that if you complete a storyline, you should have something to indicate it, like in the aforementioned manager storyline, you should have an option of bringing out your manager in non-storyline matches, and so forth.... Its more the little things that make a game a classic, IMO.
