Ahh, I understand... well, they've improved the gameplay and graphics, plus some of the esoteric things in the game as well.... I honestly don;t think that HTCP is going to be "Smackdown 4.5". I still am amazed at the difference of SYM from JBI, and now the pics from HTCP have me all but salivating now... Yes, I *love* my wrestling games. But ever since Tag Team Wrestling back in the early 80s, I always have.

Hootie and the Blowfish are back together and touring in support of an album they released early this year. Guns N Roses is by far the biggest flameout I have ever seen in music. They could have RULED the rock genre to this day if Axl hadn;t self-destructed and become a victim of his own ego, to the point the band that backed him up is now recording an album with Scott Weiland as their frontman.

Diminished as he is, you just can't replace Maddux.. I can;t imagine anyone they could get by dangling Javy lopex out there that would come close to Maddux.
-
the Braves would be idiotic if they let Javy go. Furcal, they could maybe get away with, Castilla is aging... but to lose a decent catcher and a good bat like Javy would be stupid in all ways.

I've had good experiences with Live for the most part, though 96 remains my favorite of all time 97 my least favorite, and 2001 being pretty decent, and my basketball jones isn;t letting me wait until october, when the 2004 versions come out, which one is in your opinion the better basketball game? On a related topic, who thinks that signature dunks need to make a comeback in the Live series? for those who remember Lakers Vs. Celtics, Bulls vs. Lakers, Bulls vs. Blazers et al, the superstar players had signature moves when they had a clear run to the basket. While the Live series has always had a decent amount of dunks and moves, I think that would set Live further apart from the competition. Just no Brent Barry dunking from the three-point line ala Tom Chambers. Opinions?

He has a point. He's been steadily improving over those three years, and Jason Kidd notwithstanding, they would not have made it to the Finals without him. I hope he gets the deal, and if the Nets were smart, they would just lock him up and be done with it.

Airwolf was VERY popular for the first couple of seasons, when Jan-Michael Vincent could at least TRY to act, then his boozing and drug use caught up with him big time. Is Ernest Borgnine still alive?

Yeah, Sapp and Favre respect each other, though Sapp will try and take his head off on every play. And we all know what Brett will do for his buddies on other teams... ::coughstrahanssackrecordcoughcough::

I put on 25 lbs when I got engaged.... then again I was 28 at the time....

At least Em has a modicum of realness to his act, seeing how he grew up near Detroit. Who was the jackass that would put Justin Timberlake as the opening act for AC/DC and the Stones??? Anyone with a quarter of a brain would know that he would not be a good fit...

thats interesting.... at least the Knicks are trying *something*.

No offense Choken, but it was the Reds.... NY, LA and Boston are the worst places to play as far as wanting immediate production, in that order. But if Nick Johnson is going to start over him, then its okay, for now. The only way it would have gotten any worse for him is if he played for the Mets at the start of this season.

Ahh, you just get called Nate a lot.

I'm just glad a band like Maiden still has its worldwide success to draw on.... its times like this I wish I lived in England and could catch a Maiden show Wednesday.... ::sighs:: I agree Body Count did get the ball rolling faster, and harder.... it still pisses me off to this day that the ultra right-wing got all over Ice T for that song. On a distantly related topic, Living Colour was living proof that even Mick Jagger couldn't stop racism.

Attitude situation? What do you mean? SYM's CAW engine was pretty damn strong... light-years ahead of JBI... my only complaint was that the attire was a touch lacking, but thats a minor gripe. I just hope the game meets my expectations, which are pretty damned high.

So Dames, how did it go? Methinks Athena could be heading for the positive side, you blushing bridegroom you ::elbows him in the ribs:: I loved the "excuse me while I mark out". Perfect timing there.

Its all about getting used to the controller when you were used to the arcade machine setup.... Though I have no trouble with Street Fighter, as I became much better playing Sagat on the Genesis, and the Sidewinder pad is almost identical to it. I get my ass kicked on Double Dribble regularly, and I retired from that game after scoring 100 points on a single quarter.... playing Star Castle is a bit of a nightmare, as is Omega Race. hmm... I think I only have like 1800 Roms myself... care to do an AIM download? Please?

Hell, if you have a ***** match, post it, for the gods sakes....

It would be funny having writers toeing the company line and verbally walking in lockstep.... for the first couple of times, anyway.

So Aaron Boone is the new 3rd baseman for the Yankees.... I just hope he can handle the pressure.

It was a good interview until he started putting other religions "on trial", with the only two passing his muster being Judaism and Christianity....

Which is to say, not at all. In a sick perverted way, I *hope* the WWE dies within 5-8 years. If the talent has saved up enough money, they should be all right and maybe, just maybe, from the ashes of the E will come something that gets back to what made wrestling great in the first place. WRESTLING. I was listening to BTR doing an interview with Steve Corino, and he was talking about how RoH's success is directly linked to their video/DVD sales and how neither they or MLW is not in a position to be in direct competition to the E yet, and how TNA has to seriously get their ducks in a row as far as booking goes. Think about this: If the E were to straighten up and fly right tomorrow, doing everything they are SUPPOSED to be doing to garner true success for the company, what would happen? The industry itself would get a shot in the arm, and the other feds would get drawn along in its wake. TNA is arguably #2 in the food chain, with RoH and MLW pretty much on its heels. If the E truly *did* give the fans what they wanted, it would mean much higher ratings, better PPW draws and buyrates, right? It would also mean that the competition would have to start doing better, or be left in the dust. Its the Tiger Woods theory. Back when he was completely dominating men's golf, it meant more money for the other players. While they secretly hated Tiger because they could not beat him or at times even come close to it, it meant higher purses for events, more endorsement deals and so forth. Their quality of life got better, because they were making more money off of Tiger kicking their collective asses. It also meant that if they cared about winning, they had to get better, and eventually they did. Networks would be looking for TV deals, and not just with the E, who has their UPN deal for Smackdown. Other feds would start getting offers, and that is the ONE thing that is keeping TNA from becoming a legitimate threat to the stranglehold the E has on the wrestling industry. Vince got a serious wake up call when WCW, with the power of a national cable network behind it, came to within a hairsbreadth of putting him out of business for good. It forced him to get better, more creative, and push his staff and talent to do the same thing. Now under some alleged shady business dealings after some SERIOUS mismanagement, WCW ended up being bought up by Vince, who decided to never be in that position of vulnerability ever again. So he hires subpar writers, allows certain members of his talent get away with all kinds of serious power plays, running all the way up to marrying his daughter and heir to his empire, and simply odes what he wants with his shows, instead of doing the best to put on a quality show with the best talent he has available. He also pays his talent very good salaries, but kills their passion for the business by allowing above mentioned power plays and his subpar writers to put them in rather degrading storylines (Kane and Booker T come immediately to mind). With him being the only game in town, with the rest being nothing but sideshow attractions to him, he puts into effect a reverse spin on the above-mentioned Tiger Woods theory. He has the best available to him, but he does just enough with it to keep his main source of support (the marks), hungry for more, while keeping the business in general suppressed to the point where no other promotion can ever be a serious threat to him. The problem with that is that it can only work for so long. I say 5-8 years, 10 at the most. Just my opinion, take it for what its worth.

And most of these guys either have attitude problems or are on the downside of their careers or *both*.

Again, its a matter of words... by it being pushed out of the mainstream and seeing some bands trying to change with the times too much rather than changing a little while sticking to what got them where they were, by seeing a good portion of the younger metal fans start wearing flannels and acting all angtsy and depressed to be "cool", that's why I say that metal was "killed". In effect I'm in agreement, but it was pushed WAY down IMO. As for the bands of mention, with the exception of Metallica, Most of the bigger bands of the 80s and 90s barely get a sniff of selling out 20,000 seat arenas like they used to... Maiden for example can sell out 100,000 almost anywhere in the world EXCEPT our fickle-ass music fans here in the states, where they can get maybe 10,000, possibly 15,000. heh, funny thing is that Biohazard did a lot for the rap/metal genre in the early to mid 90s and they barely get a mention anyplace. Ice T's Body Count did a hell of a lot until the right-wing bullshit witch hunt surrounding Cop Killer.... quite a few artists had a lot to do with influencing a Fred Durst... he'll just never mention give them props in an interview.
