Harry Reid is a pussy.

Yeah, weird, but isn't the Surgeon General's post basically just a P.R. job for government-sponsored health information anyways? If you look at it that way, it kind of makes sense.

Being White House Chief of Staff (and a good one) pretty much qualifies you for running anything.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/05/burris/index.html Okay, so let's review... One legal challenge due to recount by-laws, one legal challenge to an appointment made in the midst of a scandal, and three other senators still running around the place who will be gone as soon as one is sworn in as vice president, and the other two have cabinet appointments confirmed by the very body they are now members of. Did I leave anything out? edit: And apparently Leon Panetta is going to be named CIA Director. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/01...d-cia-director/

Whether Richardson is guilty or not, that he's voluntarily stepping aside (compared to Ted Stevens, William Jefferson, or Rod Blagojevich) is a rare thing. Panel to declare Franken winner of Senate race. Ths is going to be a fun next few weeks.
-
He insists he innocent, but doesn't want the business of the government held back because of a scandal while he clears his name. That's, like, unheard of these days.

Compromise alledgedly reached on the Illinios appointment. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090102/ap_on_...o/senate_burris There was a Constitutional question as to whether or not the Senate really had the authority to deny him the seat, given what the Constitution says on the matter.

Colorado governor named a U.S. Senate appointment.

My thought exactly on the impending cult status. As a comedy, this movie is brilliant (even if its not a comedy). Also, Eva Mendez's ass deserves some kind of special award.

Memo to CNN: She's not someone you want near a live mic. Memo to Czech: Hey, remember that one time at the The Pitt when everyone jumped my ass for using that same line on Marney? Sigh. Good times.

I don't see this going through. First of all, I don't really like what it says about Burris to accept a tainted appointment from Blagojevich. Second, there are going to be 3 other vacant seats. If Bobby Rush's entire argument for backing this pick is that the Senate needs black representation, concievably there's 3 other chances for this to happen. It is also a little hard to swallow an argument that denying Burris this seat would be a set back for African-Americans when (a) most of the time senators are elected in democratic contests, not handed appointments by crooks, and, oh yeah, (b) the incoming POTUS is African-American.

Isn't it this guy's theory that Beck is talking about in that segment? All I know is Glenn's segment was a month ago (11/25). In the transcript you posted a link to, he keeps referencing this idea came from a "Russian," you dumb ass.

Apparently the "Magic Negro" controversy has made Chip Saltsman even more popular within his inclusive, big-tent party.

The Illinios Secretary of State can refuse to certify it.

Isn't it this guy's theory that Beck is talking about in that segment? I think everyone should make their own predictions. Here, go nuts.

Post-mortems on the Bush Presidency are trickling out, this one courtesy of next issue of Vanity Fair... All you have to do is look at the history of Mr. Bush's poll numbers to know this one is true... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081230/ap_on_...isers_speak_out And interestingly... On a subconscious level, I think people recognized the similarities between Bush and Palin once those damaging interviews came out. But, to be fair... A Newsbusters.org blog response to the Vanity Fair article.

Will this mean I can finally get free health care?

This is starting to remind me of the old Astroboy thread.

Destroying a Pontiac Phoenix should be considered a mercy killing. (I know the levity on this thread might seem wholly inappropriate, but I have no other idea how to mentally cope with such a horrendous crime than to change the subject and start cracking jokes.)
