There was "one party" controlling the Senate during Bush's first term after Jeffords quit the Republican Party.

I must have missed the day you were coronated the King of Moderation. It isn't being a moderate, it's being realistic. While I would adore a super-duper liberal paradise in the vein of the "People's Republic of Berkeley," practical considerations have to be made. If the Democrats are more concerned with getting back at Republicans than governing I'm going to be very upset, and I'm not completely confident that governing is going to be on the agenda. Except I don't think you need to drag me into your personal cynicism about what happens next. I actually WANT gridlock. The Democrat's only mandate tonight is to stop Bush from doing anything else stupid. Having said that, I'm a very happy man.

Maybe people should just go back to commenting about the election.

That Ark of the Covenant joke was tremendous.

Piss off. You're the sort of know-it-all bitch that got Democrats in a position of having to recover in the first place, and represent the same attitude that keeps things deadlocked and the American people pissed off. It's about them, not about you. Other things I'm responsible for: -AIDS -9/11 -cancer -the movie "Glitter" Where the hell have you been? There is no "deadlock." People are pissed off not because Republicans and Democrats can't get along, but because of rampant corruption and the Iraq War. Wake up. And people said I'll be tough to deal with tonight. On a scale of 1 to 10, with a 10 being the 2004 election threads, this thing's been about a 3 or 4. Can you two please take your Midol so we can we get back to the important business of making smart-ass comments about the current event in front of us? Jeez.

Reporter on MSNBC just mentioned how people are tired of partisan gridlock. I believe the reporter in question was reporting live from the year 1998.

MSNBC is projecting 231-204 in the House.

Ok Jerk, when did McCain rub up on your crotch? Right around the time he put his mouth on W's. I'M DONE TALKING ABOUT McCAIN NOW.
-
Look dude, I know you don't like McCain. That out of the way, quit complaining about him already. You act like he raped you in your sleep or something. I think I'm complaining more about how the press treats McCain than McCain himself. Having said that, this is a guy who has completely betrayed his own principles and sold his soul to get on the good side of the Republican base. He is not the man he pretends to be.

And once acgain, Kotz/Art/Sex Machine Gun is the voice of reason. Yeah, I can't believe how mean we've all been to each other. Can we still be friends? Maybe we can get togehter later and eat raw cookie dough and braid each others' hair.
-
McCain makes me sick. He's consistently been W's cheerleader for the last 5 years, but the press still treats him like this maverick outsider. I liked him in 2000 because he complaining about the money in politics, and was the only Republican saying we should use the budget surplus to pay down the debt.

Based on the interviews I've seen so far, the Official Republican Spin™ tomorrow will be "The American people voted us out because we weren't conservative enough and we lost our way."
-
Oh, look, its Our Moderate Messiah on MSNBC. Chris Matthews is asking McCain when McCain first realized the Republicans were corrupt, and McCain's actually answering the question. Fucking hell.

1. According to the spineless little shit of a human being that is Tom Breevort, FF #540 takes inbetween pages of Civil War #4, before Sue left Reed in #4, meaning that after her argument/departure in FF #540, Sue came back, fucked her husband, and made him a nice meal before leaving him. Okay...that makes a lot of sense. (Except not really.) In other news, the Thing sure is taking his sweet time leaving the country.

Finally, some proof a God of some kind exists. How that guy lasted this long is a joke. Now if we can get Ted Kennedy out in the future, things will be looking up! You know, Robert Byrd and Ted Kennedy are in the same re-election class, and are currently the two longest serving members of the Senate. One of them will have to retire eventually. edit: And some of you are thanking God for Robert Byrd right now for keeping Kennedy from ever becoming President Pro Tempore.

Chris Matthews was trying to get Howard Dean to say the US needed an immediate withdrawal, and that by not doing so he was kind of betraying his position that the war was a mistake. Matthews really needs to read the first post of this thread.

Santorum is conceding, and wants to thank God. That makes two of us.

The governor's races don't concern me personally. The stem cell intiative is really modelizing people for Talent, as opponents are claiming that it legalizes cloning. Multiple recent polls have given McCaskill the advantage, but her lead is within the margin of error. My prediction is that the Senate outcome will be 49-49-2, with Lieberman and Sanders caucusing with the Democrats. The outcome won't be know for a while, though, because of absentee ballots. The biggest reason for this is that not enough Republican senators are up for re-election to make that big of an impact. House: 230-205 in favor of the Democrats.

Gee, ya think? Snarkish on snarkish crime is on the rise.

Democrats are counting on the anti-Bush vote this year. I don't think that's limited to just one demographic anymore.
-
Just remember I like HIM a lot more than I like YOU.

I've liked all of Jim Carrey's dramatic parts. The fact that "Ace Ventura" was a bigger hit than "Eternal Sunshine" or "Man on the Moon" says more about the movie-going public than it does about Carrey's acting ability. Back on topic...Um, err... Will Ferrell...? SHAKE AND BAKE!!!!!
