  1. Check out some serious silliness from Time magazine... http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,...00.html?cnn=yes Given that the author acknowledges that Bush's appoproval rating was only 45% in Viriginia, and that having voters worried about Iraq isn't a good thing for Republicans, I think the article's subtitle might actually be a poor attempt at sarcasm.
  2. HELLO????? Seriously, though, Bayh is enough of an unknown that his current image is irrelevant. If his campaign emphasizes his time as a successful governor and his expertise in national security, he could easily take the lead as a reasonable alternative to the polarizing Hillary or the inexperienced Obama. Bayh has something the Democratic frontrunners are sorely lacking: ACCOMPLISHMENTS. This job's too important for learning curves and on-the-job training. Bayh might not fire up the liberal base the way Jerry Brown or Howard Dean could, but I actually want to win for once.
  3. Yeah, nothing shows you're a uncharismatic loser like getting elected 5 times in a place your party hasn't carried since 1964. Evan Bayh was the extremely popular tax-cutting, budget-balancing governor of Indiana for 8 years. He's also been a good senator, with vast experience in foriegn policy from working on the Intelligence and Armed Services committees. In addition, he's supported teachers and has been critical of the mistakes of the Iraq War. He's a family man with no ties to lying spouses, extramarital affairs, or multiple divorces. And most importantly, he won't get painted as a far-left looney the way Russ Feingold and Hillary Clinton inevitably will.
  4. I still find it funny that some conservatives complain about movie stars getting involved in politics, but have no problem with electing them governor.
  5. Well did he fuck her? If not, What's the big deal about it? That ad help ruin him because Ford ran as a social conservative, then people found out he was a slut. His official explanation for attending the the Playboy Super Bowl Party was "I like football and I like women." Even if he could get around the charge that he was a skirt-chaser, he couldn't get around the charge that he was a social hypocrite. The RSCC ran that ad while Corker's campaign simultaneously rans ads where his daughters talked about what a great dad he was. Ford was screwed. The ad would've been effective even if Ford himself was white.
  6. Fair enough, but he didn't save an old man in the comics, he saved a blind man. The blindness then transferred from the guy he saved to him because of the chemicals. THAT'S stupid. And KR is right, the director's cut was a much better film.
  7. The only wasted vote is the one you never cast. Having said that, you should go crazy and write-in your own name for every office.
  8. The infamous Harold Ford ad. Apparently he went to a Super Bowl party hosted by Playboy and met a woman who only breathes helium.
  9. More cunter-evidence to the claim that Republicans lost because they weren't conservative enough. http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/11/08/ele....why/index.html
  10. I don't see the connestion because there isn't one. The only change they made was making Kingpin responcible for Jack Murdock's murder. The origin was handled fine. Daredevil sucked because the love story didn't work, and the action scenes were disappointing. The Director's Cut fixed those problems.
  11. PATRICK DEMPSEY IS POPULAR????
  12. "Democratic Party" = too many syllables. Scarborough's on pushing the idea that the liberals are going to push for Bush's head on a silver platter, and push the Democrats back to the left. In additon to my prediction about the final Senate number being true (49-49-2), my prediction that the party line would be "We lost because we weren't conservative enough" is also hitting it right on the head. They weren't conservative enough? Jeeez. Talk about not being able to smell your own shit. You guys lost because you fucked up Iraq. Accept it.

  14. Now I need one that says "Oh, crap." edit: AP declared Webb the official winner.

  16. SO HOW 'BOUT THAT ELECTION????
  17. "How you doin'?"
  18. Has anyone heard any talk of a Montana recount?
  19. The Democratic nominee will either be Ed Rendell or Evan Bayh. The Republican nominee will either be Mike Huckabee or John McCain. These predictions are invalidated, of course, if none of these people run. I'm certain at least 3 of these 4 will.
  20. Why would the Democrats need to cheat in New York? I'm sure he's as equally certain that Democrats committed voter fraud as he was that Saddam Hussein had WMDs and ties to Al Qaeda, Terri Shiavo wasn't brain-dead, or that Tom DeLay is innocent of all charges. All allegations that support conservative opinions are automatically true. All allegations that cast conservative opinion into doubt are due to liberal conspiracy. So all liberal opinions are enlightened and correct while conservative ones are backed by the vast right wing conspiracy. OK got it thanks. If you think that's what I think, then you don't know me very well.
  21. Yeah, that'll happen.
  22. Why would the Democrats need to cheat in New York? 23. MSNBC just went through a laundry list of reasons why the VA recount will take forever.
  24. MO, Montana, Virginia, and Tennessee are still on the fence.
  25. Sometimes standing still is better than going backwards. A good deal of Bush's worst ideas are bills that are due for reauthorization. Stopping the bleeding is the first step, and given that the legislative branch is only 1 of 3 branches, that's pretty much what we're forced to settle for. Checks and balances are the comfortable medium our system was designed to encourage. All you have to do to see what happens when a Congress excedes their mandate and starts trying to govern is the 1996 and 1998 elections.
