General Clark wouldn't need to bring in Arkansas if he could bring in a bigger chunk of the military vote, or help put to rest concerns regarding Obama's inexperience with military issues. Clark also gives instant credibility to any promises Obama makes concerning military deployments.

That's not a bad pick, but I can't help but think Obama would pick up more Clinton supporters with a woman than with a Clinton backer. Gov. Sebelius of KS is probably the best choice of the female governors, though that doesn't help with regional balance. Granholm would be a slam-dunk if she weren't born in Canada. Senator Landrieu of Louisiana would be my top pick from the Senate, and would provide regional and ideological balance. Of course, if he's going to pick a female Senator, he might as well just go with Clinton. Anyways, here's my top 5 (in no particular order): Wesley Clark Hillary Clinton Mary Landrieu Bill Richardson Kathleen Sebelius

I'm now becoming convinced that adding Mrs. Clinton to the ticket is a good idea. She and her supporters are probably just sore enough losers that they'll try and throw the election to McCain if they don't add her.And, at least on paper, having a VP nominee with her experience and name recognition will end up helping more than it hurts. I'm not 100% sold on the idea, but I can definitely see the benefits.

Because no one in the Republican Party thinks they can win on real issues anymore, given the situation in Iraq and the poor state of the U.S. economy.

Some of the English colonies that would later become the original 13 states were founded on Judeo-Christian principles. The United States, the official internationally recognized soveriegn nation that has existed since 1776 and whose government and laws we now follow, was not. There is nothing in the Bible that remotely resembles anything in either the Constitution (including the 27 Amendments passed since 1789) or Declaration of Independence. There's no mention in the Bible of freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, no taxation without representation, habaes corpus, representative democracy, separation of powers, equality under the law, inalienable rights, states rights, election of representatives or chief executives, term limits, women's suffrage, the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, or other procedures and principles embedded in our founding documents. The only governments mentioned in the Bible are kingdoms and monarchies. Contrary to popular belief, God is not mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, but "our creator" which some people believe to be God. Perhaps the only thing the Bible mentions that the Constitution reinforces is owning slaves, but even that was counteracted by the 13th Amendment.

The "well, animals do it" response is useful as a counterargument to the "homosexuality is a choice and contrary to nature" argument that's been used for as long as homosexuality has been debated.

Karl Rove re-emerges to star in another episode of "Righteous Indignation Theater." I'm paraphrasing here, but essentially Rove said, "I'M OFFENDED THAT BARACK OBAMA DIDN'T WANT TO WEAR A FLAG PIN BECAUSE IT IS AN INSULT TO PEOPLE WHO ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR FLAGS AS PART OF THEIR UNIFORM!" He also said, "I'M HOPING PEOPLE WILL CONTINUE BELIEVING THAT OBAMA TELLING EVERYONE HE HATED GOD AND GUNS WHEN HE SAID PEOPLE WERE 'BITTER', INSTEAD OF WHAT HE REALLY SAID!" The irony of the "bitter" comment was that, in context, it was actually a criticism of the Democratic Party's economic betrayal of the working class, and an acknowledgment that the Republicans had outmanuevered them by appealling to voters based on the hand-full of issues the Republicans emphasize. Surely you'd think Rove of all people would agree with that assessment.

I'm sorry, I didn't make the reason for my comparison clear. I was only trying to put MSNBC's popularity in the context of other news channels, not imply that you had a preference for them.

While I agree with Jesse Ventura on many issues and think he's a hell of a guy, I think the media will BBQ him for his comments on 9/11 if he commits to running.

Except that we're nearly biologically identical and all.

So...someone confronting someone else on a news-themed talk show is bad television and should lead to the network's bankruptcy...and yet, Fox News continues to thrive. Oh, wait, the difference between this and Fox News was that the host knew what he was talking about, and gave the guest multiple opportunities to answer the question while the guest chose to just repeat the same talking points over and over (the opposite of how things usually run at Fox).

The funny thing was, Kevin James wasted all that time comparing Chamberlain and Obama, when Bush's reference was actually to William Borah (although it was intially Bush that incorrectly equated Borah's comments to appeasement). That's wasted time he could have spent blaming Bill Clinton for 9/11 or calling Obama a Muslim sleeper-agent.
