Royal Rumble when Mr. Perfect made his last return. He's getting whipped into the ropes and he still has the presence of mind to do the spit and swat with his gum. I was looking for that as he was making his entrance and I thought he abandoned doing it. I laughed my ass off when I saw it there. Angle was in Regal's office complaining about something. Out of nowhere Shawn Stasiak comes running in to take him out. Angle hear's him coming, calmly steps out of the way, Stasiak misses completely and runs into the suit of armour, knocking himself out. Angle looks for a second, then calmly steps back and picks up the conversation right where he left off as if nothing happened. Benoit, Eddy and I believe Malenko were fueding in WCW, one of those three way hatefests where there's no allegiances. Eddy is in the ring with Malenko and they got a mean stare down going on, readying themselves for the fight. All of a sudden Benoit slides into the ring behind Malenko. Eddy gets a momentary "oh shit" look on his face, then changes his expression to a nice guy. He smiles and offers to shake Malenko's hand as Benoit comes up from behind and clobbers him. They proceed to do a double beat down until Benoit turns his attention to Eddy. Eddy's facial expressions leading to the attack were truly priceless. Words can't do this segment justice, it really had to be seen.

If he's standing there shirtless in a pair of jeans I wouldn't care. But the outfit, the pose, the blondish hair, and the nipple... that's all too much.
-
I've got to agree with the general conscensus and say good for Bret to find something to do. But that picture..... Okay, the outfit is part of the production but do we really need that pose and a shot of his nipple. I know I could sleep easier if I had not seen that.

The entire segment was such wrestlecrap, it would have only made sense for one of the kings of the crap to show up. I was kind of thinking it could happen, but on the other hand, seeing recent pictures of Ed Leslie, I don't know if he could drag his fat ass out of bed.

Nothing has ever, and I don't think will ever, top the Vader-Hogan powerbomb. At least in my book. I did like the no sell that Paul Bearer did on the pouring cement. He's buried up to his neck in it, but Taker is coming to save him so he's happy go lucky Paul Bearer once again. He looked like he was in a hot tub rather than a life threatening situation.

I completely got your point, I just disagreed with it. No matter what was added to the business in the past, it doesn't give you free reign over the present of it. I was only speaking of Austin and Hogan. Foley always goes above and beyond the call of duty. He's earned the right to make his appearances, whether it be to shill his book or have an active role. The fact that it's there to pop the crowd and/or add something to a match is a further indication of how much he adds to the business. He accepts a mid-card role and plays the string out until the story is completed, a pure professional. Austin didn't take some time off now and then, he walked out on the company, twice. He's not happy with the direction, fine, his contribution earned him the right to have some say in that direction. His say doesn't bring enough change, fine, let yourself get written out, drink some beer at home, we'll come up with something agreeable. Instead of being professional, he just walks out leaving everyone to pick up the pieces. This is to say nothing of the already mentioned invincibility his character was given. The limitations of his body made him stronger, not weaker. It looks bad on current stars when the broken down past star has an easier time wiping the floor with them than he did in his prime. Hogan was at least willing to help new talent. While Brock was the only one he put over, he did give a rub to Edge among others. But like Austin, he was virtually invincible, and he just walked out when he wasn't happy with his direction. He had to be the centre of attraction and when he didn't like the direction his storyline was taking, he left. Their past contributions and the toll taken on their bodies gives them the right to have jobs for life, but not to hurt the future of the business.

That's the entire problem with this argument. Whether it was Cole screwing up or WWE changing the names, they were changed on a weekly basis. I remember calling Cole a dumbass so many times when the name was different from the week before. Why I noticed, or for that matter, cared, I cannot say. But I do know for sure that the names kept getting flip flopped around. I think that Albert's finisher was always supposed to be called the Derailer, regardless of which move he was using. There's some WWE logic for ya.

I hear you on that. Fuck them for giving their bodies to wrestling, and paying the price to entertain us. What selfish bastards they are. Damn straight. They're the only two wrestlers in history that have killed their bodies to entertain us. They've earned the right to do whatever they damn well please as opposed to the thousands before them who did what was right for the business.

I assume you are talking about Goldberg here. If so what would be the point of him appearing on the Smackdown 5th anniversary show when he never even wrestled on Smackdown? That's okay, just give him enough time to squash the Cruiserweight division The minute and a half that it would take him to do that is 90 seconds more of him than I ever want to see again.

I vaguely recall a promo cut on Funk where he was berating his age and the fact that he can't go in the ring anymore. The irony of Kevin Nash making such a statement was lost on him. He went on saying how he's saved his money so he doesn't have to be like him. Heelish dick comments to make so the argument could be made that it was just in character, but in typical Nash fashion, his comments did nothing to make you want to watch a match and only served to undermine his opponent.

Good point, and since Kidman is a face, the sportsmanship angle could work.

Nah, I'm not seeing it. Look at boxing. In boxing, you are meant to hit the other guy in the head in order to score more points or (prefereably) knock him out to win. BUT YOU ARE NOT MEANT TO CRIPPLE HIM. People are meant to be temporarily KO'd, but OK to fight again. Is it a stupid sport? Yes. Is it ridiculous to assume that people can be hit in the head time and time again without risking major injury? Yes. But that's what's MEANT to happen. Same with wrestling. To briefly plug the SWF e-fed, my wrestler has several times explained to people that he doesn't enjoy hurting people, but he enjoys winning and in order to do that he has to hurt people. And he's a heel. It's not about really hurting people, it's supposed to be about disorientating/winding/knocking them out long enough for the three-count. So I reckon the proposed storyline would work. You're not totally correct about boxing. It's the rules and the officials that keep the boxers from crippling each other. The fight is stopped when one competitor is in danger, they don't get hit when they're down, etc. The boxer is trained to continue pounding the shit out of his opponent until the fight is over. It's up to the officials to end it before it reaches the point of serious injury. I remember seeing an interview (I believe with Lennox Lewis) where he was being given a hard time for labelling a guy with one final shot when he was already out on his feet. He explained how in a previous fight he let up on a guy in a similar situation and that brief lapse gave his opponent the opportunity to come back in the fight. He didn't want this to happen again so he continued laying it on, going on to emphasis that it's up to the ref to stop the fight prior to a killer shot like the one he layed on. It's the ref's decision, not the fighters. I'm clarifying this because it's up to the commentators and writers to point it out this way. They need to point out that this ain't ballett, but these guys have lives and families and that rules are needed to protect them from serious injury. The wrestlers aren't holding back because it's fake, they're holding back because breaking the rules and/or carelessly causing injury will get them fined/suspended/fired. An admission that you didn't want to hurt someone does not have to equal an admission that it's all fake. It's all up to the background that is given to this admission.

I was wondering that too. It would kind of take away from the whole "shock" factor of having Evolution turn on him if he's already got some new original entrance music prepared. He's so pissed off about the beating he took that the first thing he does is go to the production staff and demanded new music. That or superstars always keep a couple of themes handing for just such emergencies.

It's not like I miss him. There were a few amusing moments but nothing that I felt added a great deal of value to the show. But I just realized when I saw Chavo walk out tonight that his pop isn't with him anymore. I can't remember anything where they showed Classic the door. Did I miss something or was this just another angle dropped with no explanation? I don't think I missed a show, but on the other hand the shows have been so forgettable, I could easily have seen it and erased it from memory.

That doesn't bother me as much. It's sort of like Eric Gagne walking out of the bullpen in the ninth with a three run lead. Technically it's not over until the three outs are recorded but it's a pretty safe bet. I can buy the commentator selling a finish on the setup for the finisher more than on a transistion move or on an obvious false finish. I've never really noticed this before, but now that it's brought up I do realize that I'm constantly shouting "just shut the fuck up" at Cole on this kind of thing. Now it's really going to bug the hell out of me.

In reverse order 3) My best guess on this was that this was all outside of wrestling storylines and it was Glen Jacobs that had girlfriends and cars. With that out of the way, he went back to being storyline Kane. 2) X-pac told him he didn't need it anymore. Apparently that restores your voice. 1) I believe the official explanation on that one was: "Sit down and shut up. Fucking internet geeks." but I may be misquoting here.

I think I could put up with yet another GM if it were Kamala

The file is fucked up somehow. I run the file through a program called "VideoFixer" and that usually does the trick. I found that program on Kaaza.

Look at the screen and see if there's anything strange. If there's a black circle or star pattern in the middle then the tube's likely fucked and it's over. If that looks okay then pop the back cover off and see if anything is disconnected. Other than that there's tons of possibilities so take it somewhere where they'll check it out cheap. Ask them if they'll give you that back if you buy a new one from them.

A Chyna/Waltman sex tape and an X-Pac return. Number 1 and number 2 on the list of last things in the world that I ever want to see. I didn't think anything could knock X-Pac out of the top spot but there you go.

Little inconsequential things like facts and common sense have never garnered any interest in courts and they aren't about to weed their way in now. There's money to be made and it's still illegal to shoot lawyers. With that combination this type of thing will always see legal action.

That's the one, thank you very much

I'm trying to adjust the programs that run automatically whenever I start up. I know that I can get to and adjust the list if I click the start button and go to "run", but I can't remember what to type in there to bring the window up. Can you tell me what it is? Much appreciated.

I've noticed recently that with the better quality that Raw's been showing, I've also been liking the commentating better as well. JR's showing some genuine excitement and even though he does still use them, he isn't relying solely on his repetitive catchphrases. Lawler, while still being useless whenever breasts are within view, seems to have finally remembered that he's the heel(ish) commentator. He's coming up with some insight and interacting with JR as the heel commentator should. They still make mistakes, miss opportunities to cover botches or inconsistencies, but they aren't as noticable and pronounced as they were a while ago. I'm not saying that they've returned to their previous great levels, just that I'm enjoying them better. Over on Smackdown, it's just the opposite. Cole is once again completely worthless. During the Smackdown six run, I really noticed an improvement in him. He was calling well and had an excitement level that went with the flow of the matches. He wasn't great, but I liked him better. Now he's just as bad or worse than ever. Tazz had some great lines in there and worked great in the ex-wrestler counterpoint insight role. It's now been at least three months since his last humorous line, he's more annoying than funny, and he isn't adding anything with what he says. A particular annoyance is on Dupree's french tickler; I want to reach through my tv screen and rip his tongue out on the schit he's using for that. What I'm wondering is if this is all just my imagination. Am I just enjoying the Raw matches more so the commentating seems better? Are Smackdown matches sucking so badly that the commentating sounds shitty as well? I think it's just a matter of the commentators being human. What they're watching affects their emotions and simply by impulse it reflects through on what they're saying.

Possibly. I've never heard them call it a b-show outright. The most I'd heard was that Pritchard wanted to bring in more gimmicky characters. Maybe I'm trying to be a little too logical here, but I can't see them intentionally trying to make the show bad if they expect to profit off the brand. It's not an attempt to make the show bad, it's throwing shit at the wall and if it doesn't stick they don't care as much. If the gimmick catches on, then great, milk it for a while before moving it to the big show, if not then at least they didn't hurt the important show with the crap. Of course they'd want everything to be golden and generate profits, but they don't care about the show enough to be cautious with what gets thrown out there.
