  1. My wife and I decided to use our frequent flyer points on our flight to Vancouver last month, and pay cash for our flight to Miami last winter, instead of the other way around as we were planning (how expensive could a domestic flight be, right?). I figure we saved about $600. Flying to Seattle and then commuting is definitely the best option. A bus ticket to Vancouver is under $100, and the bus station isn't far from GM Place or downtown.

    NFL Week 3

Thank God for Sunday Ticket this week -- if I didn't have it, I'd be getting Bengals/Giants, Steelers/Eagles, Lions/Niners and Rams/Seahawks. Yay. Why on earth does CBS have Gus Johnson doing the worst game of the week (Chiefs/Falcons)?

    NFL Week 3

Picks I'm likely making for my straight-up money pool: Early Games (1:15pm EDT) KC @ ATL - Both these teams are pretty bad, but KC just looks dreadful, so there's no way I pick them on the road. OAK @ BUF - The injuries to Fargas and McFadden are going to keep the Raiders out of this game. CIN @ NYG - If you thought the Bengals offence looked anemic in their first two games, you ain't seen nuthin' yet. Giants by a ton. MIA @ NE - Another easy one. Dolphins looked like I thought they would against Arizona. HOU @ TEN - This one has upset potential. If Mario Williams can get to Kerry Collins, I think the Texans win. But I'm going with the Titans in a squeaker for now. TB @ CHI - Switched this midweek due to the Hester injury. His absence will be the difference. ARI @ WAS - Every time people get their hopes up about the Cardinals, they get burned. Skins will get a last-second win. CAR @ MIN - Panthers win comfortably as the Vikings coaching staff implodes yet again. Late Afternoon Games (4:15pm EDT) NO @ DEN - I like the Broncos to go for 40+ against a very inconsistent Saints defence. DET @ SF - Niners have shown a bit of promise. Lions are just terrible. SF by a TD or so. STL @ SEA - Come on, Seattle can't lose to the Rams, can they? This will be close, though. PIT @ PHI - When in doubt, take the home team. Eagles by 6. CLE @ BAL - I just don't think the Browns have it. A rested Baltimore team should be able to take them. JAX @ IND - Jaguars are too banged up to go with them. Colts win a hard-fought game, and Jax drops to 0-3. Sunday Night Football (8:15pm EDT on NBC) Dallas Cowboys @ Green Bay Packers - Both teams have looked good, but Green Bay really hasn't played anyone yet. I like the Cowboys by 10. Monday Night Football (8:30 EDT on ESPN) New York Jets @ San Diego Chargers - A beatdown of epic proportions. The Chargers are way too good to drop three straight, and the Jets aren't good enough to get a big win on the road like this. Chargers by 20+.

    NFL Week 3

I would have thought that the Panthers being 2-0 and the Vikings being 0-2 might have answered that already.
  5. I'll save you the trouble: They're bloody expensive.
  6. Wow. Insubordination? The Jumpsuit really is delusional. Hope he stays alive for a long, long time.
  7. Ugly win, but I still get to 2-0.
  8. Oh no, that game sucks.
  9. Sorry, I just got home and finished watching the Chargers/Broncos game.
  10. WOW.
  11. Wow. I'm amazed only one other person besides me took the Cardinals this week. NY Giants - 9 Green Bay - 3 Arizona - 2 Jacksonville - 2 Kansas City - 2 Tampa Bay - 2 Seattle - 1
  12. I can't wait to see this week's picks. Using my guidelines, I only saw one "safe" team this week.
  13. ? POTY
  14. Well, that was frustrating. All three of my key losses were by a field goal.
  15. Denver - 27 Chicago Cincinnati Green Bay Jacksonville Oakland Minnesota N.Y. Giants New Orleans Seattle Tampa Bay Arizona Denver Baltimore New England Pittsburgh Dallas
  16. Of course my matchup is coming down to Southern Miss vs. Arkansas State, the game I knew the least about, where I ended up just picking the home team just because.
  17. Yeah, because that's way worse than losing every single nonconference game of note.
  18. Looks like that's the case. The game is now official, despite the steady rain, and Wakefield looks like he's having an "on" night.
  19. Beanie Wells is out for tomorrow's game, according to ESPN. As a fan of the Big East in general, this season is quickly becoming an embarrassment.
  20. Why? Is it the New Orleans thing that makes you a fan? You're from NYC, so I'm just curious as to why a Saints move would turn you off the team.
  21. I typically try to downplay historical "what ifs" in wrestling, but I truly believe that Pillman would have been Austin's primary foe during the Attitude era. I don't think it's a stretch to say he would have had a 2 or 3 year run at or near the top of the company. I think you have to go even further than "if he hadn't died," to "if he hadn't had the motorcycle accident." He was a walking cripple for pretty much his entire WWF run, and there's almost no way he could've stood up to the rigors of being the guy on top. Plus I doubt Vince would've looked at him (appearance-wise) and seen a main eventer. He was pretty small, even smaller than Eddy, I think.
  22. That brings up an interesting question, though -- what would you do if your favourite team hired or signed someone you actively despised? It happened to me with the Maple Leafs -- I had just moved to Ottawa, and had taken an interest in the Senators anyway because they were starting to put together an entertaining club. Then the Leafs hired Pat Quinn, my least favourite sports figure ever, and he predictably turned the team into a goon squad. I renounced the Leafs, and I've been a Sens fan ever since.
  23. Not a lot. I think 90210 is the only new show I'm watching. Other than that, it's the same as last year (How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Amazing Race, Dirty Sexy Money, Biggest Loser, House, and Chuck when I think of it).
  24. This thread comes up in some form or another at least once a year.
  25. That was always my thinking. And that's how I ended up cheering for the Broncos and Vikings as a kid.
