Top Five biggest disgraces in sports history
Crimson Platypus replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Sports
Well...he is right. You can roid me up all day, I still can't hit a fast ball. That's taking the quote out of context. He was not talking about you and me, he was saying that in response to the allegations of using steroids as cheating. He claimed that he doesn't believe that roiding up is cheating because it wouldn't help him hit a fastball. Justifying his drug use with a ridiculous claim. I could, if inclined to do so, find the thread here where I defended Bonds' attitude to the media as not being wrong due to him not owing anyone anything. But this is just too much, the guy is a disgrace to baseball. HE JUSTIFIED HIS DRUG USE. Flat out on camera said that he didn't think it was cheating. What a fucking loser. -
A very satisfying win last night for my Spartans. Not only did they win, shrugging that monkey off of their backs, but did so rather convincingly. Up about 12-15 with about 4 minutes to go Izzo pulled in the reins and stopped scoring (as he usually does) or they could have won by more. Now they have a tough game Saturday against a scary Indiana team that is playing good ball right now, not only that but MSU has not played well there recently.

re: Orton ending "the streak" NO fucking way. The only person that should end Taker's WM streak is Kane. No one else should even be considered for it. Consider it payback for all the shit that Kane has put up with, without ever (as far as I've heard) complaining once. Not only that, but it should be Taker's last match as well.

Barry Bonds' most recent press conference where he claimed that "I don't believe that steroids can help you hit a baseball". -
The only time anyone should ever rush the court is if/when their team wins the national championship. Every other time it is stupid imo

A few months ago my sister-in-law's mother had a heart attack, and during the heart attack she suffered a stroke, and from the combination of the two also suffered massive brain damage and ended up in a coma. Basically they (the three sisters) were told that their mother had a less than 1% chance of ever coming out of the coma, and even then that she would be a vegatable. They ended up deciding to terminate life support for their mother (father is not in the picture). Oh and she was 53 when this happened... I fully supported their decision, just as I support the husband in this situation.

Fantastic news that Fiedler is gone. Hopefully this means that Saban will be looking at a QB in the later rounds to learn the system while Feeley holds the starting job this year.

I don't know why Philly fans are excited about this, Webber always has been and always will be a loser. He's never won anything and never will. He consistently chokes in big games.

My Spartans have a big game tonight at home against the monkey on their back that is Wisconsin. I wish I could figure out why the Badgers have MSU's nuts in a jar on their nightstand. It's just really frustrating to have one team that absolutely owns State like Wisconsin does...

Actually after thinking about it some more I can't think of 10 WRs who have been better than Mason over the past three years.
-
Old and busted? Sure he's 31, but he's been one of the top 15 WRs in the league over the past three years with averages of 1161 yrds and 7 TDs. No way is he busted. -edit- oh and he would be the best WR on the Jets if he went there.

The "What Film(s) Did You Watch Today" Thread

(last night) Eternal Sunshine... 8/10 Would have been a 10/10 but I really just didn't like Winslet's character. I WANTED to get invested in her, but she just irritated me SO much. It really detracted from the impact of a great story. -

Most baseball fans returned in 1995. Most statistics quoted from sportswriters use the attendance numbers of the pre-Strike year of 1993 as a basis of comparison. The problem is, those numbers are skewed because baseball's attendance in Colorado hit nearly 4.5 Million, and Florida drew a hair over 3 Million. The National League averaged more fans per game in 1995, immediately after the strike, than they did in 1992. The Strike probably stagnated attendance, but it hardly killed the game, and baseball recovered fully within five years. Of course the difference being that Baseball is America's National Past-time... (Pasttime? Pastime? Why doesn't that look correct at all?)

I do agree that they don't usually lose to teams that they shouldn't, but I do think that Louisville would trounce them if they were to play.
-
Damn, they just won't learn from baseball's mistake will they? I JUST now have been sloooooowly getting back into baseball from their BS in what was it? 1994? Yeah, good luck getting me to buy tickets to Red Wings tickets now assholes.

I still say 11 is too high for MSU iggy, they have yet to show (in the past 4 years) that they can beat a good-great team. Until they do so they don't belong in the top 15.
