How you gonna take Hassan and Daivari out of it when it's obvious the whole attack and the way it was carried out was written with "SAAND PEEEOPLE" all over it? They could have written the attack on UT in a different way that didn't conjure such a feeling, but they didn't because they wanted to be all ballsy. I'm glad the WWE is spinning on this now because it makes them all look even more stupid. I agree with you on one point...it's a wrestling angle that had a lot thrown on it, but what was slathered and covered all over it was terrorist-evoking images...completely unnecesary on the WWE's part. I would have hated the sons of bitches for a lot more reasons than just "Taker, let's play like Nick Berg, kay? LOL!" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The point he's trying to make is that Arab-American and Muslim does NOT = terrorist. Period. Yet everyone was real quick to jump to that conclusion. That's why he said to take Hassan and Daivari out of it. If you replace them with two white guys from Kansas no one would have jumped to the terrorist conclusion. Period. PERIOD.

Direction for Hassan's Character on SmackDown
Crimson Platypus replied to The Mandarin's topic in The WWE Folder
I hope that everyone that is all up in arms about this read the transcript of that promo that Hassan did that will not air on UPN. For all any of us know that was written prior to last week's attack on Undertaker (although, knowing the tendencies of the WWE bookers it was written as soon as they got heat on Hassan from UPN). -

Movies you've seen WAY too many times
Crimson Platypus replied to Epic Reine's topic in Television & Film
I forgot to add Office Space. From the very beginning a hilarious movie with the just awesome stuff. -
I'm going to try to watch this fight Saturday as I am a big Hopkins fan. I have not seen Taylor fight so I have no idea how the bout is going to go, could anyone in the know (that is willing) maybe do a short write up on Taylor? Is he a legit challenge for Hopkins?

Oh god no...

Nope, and I bet Vince is loving every minute of media exposure he is getting out of it. Sure, he had his spokesman Gary Davis put out his little blurb about it, but behind closed doors he has got to be loving the press. The carny in him is probably thinking "Any press is good press... ON with the show".

Phuck That. We all just witnessed a record-shattering moment. Complete domination, it was so crazy. A great moment for baseball. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A great moment for baseball? Take it easy there skippy, it was just batting practice.

Dude, you named like 3 tiny details that made almost no difference in the actual plot. Compare that to a movie like I, Robot that resembled the book in name only. edit: We need a separate thread for this discussion. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is a really bad comparison as I, Robot was not actually a story itself, rather a collection of short stories with a "tie-in" of a robo-psychologist named Susan Calvin (I think that was the name) being interviewed by a reporter whom I think was writing an article about her life. (as Fluffy mentioned once already)

Yeah true, but most people define a diet as a meal plan designed to lose weight. Which is always a failure. Why? The question is this: How long do you plan on "dieting"? For most people, they lose the weight their diet was intended to target, then stop the dieting. Boom, they gain the weight again. The real key is to change your eating habits. Eat less food more often. Several small meals multiple times per day is actually better than three big meals. Talk to a nutritionist. Read a book about eating right, but one that is written by a certified nutritionist with verifible credentials. Don't do fad diets, don't take weight loss pills, all that shit does is set you up for the inevitible yo-yo right back up to where you started from. Damn that got longer than I expected.

Give Juvi the US belt, Psicosis and Super Crazy the tag belts. Do it.

Oh I see. So now WWE has to dumb everything down in order to not offend anyone for anything bad that has ever happened? God grow the fuck up man. I've said it 5 or 6 times already, but really... it's just a TV show. That's it. TV. Nothing more, nothing less. Why are you getting so upset about a television show? Stop for a second and ask yourself that.

I seem to remember him getting suspended last year. Not positive on that though. -edit- Yeah, this article says Tech suspended him for the season... -
I watched one of those weekend shows and it was shown with only the actual choking part edited.

No. No. No and NO. It was taped BEFORE the London bombings. What part of that is so fucking hard for people to understand? MONDAY COMES BEFORE THURSDAY. Every single week that happens. Get that out of your head. Exactly.

Get $1 if you don't laugh at Pauly Shore
Crimson Platypus replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in Television & Film
To me Pauly is good in small doses. He'd be good as a supporting funny guy in a movie or TV show, but he is just not good enough to carry an entire show or movie -
I liked what they were doing last night, with the whole blackmail thing. I just hope two things come of this: Eddie finally gets a win, and please, for the love of god, DON'T do a molestation thing. I really, really, really hope it's a paternity thing and nothing else. Really.

Obviously you're talking TV, so it may not fit perfectly. Wrestling is not like 24 in many different ways. And besides that, to use the analogy, bad TV is bad TV. This is the equivalent of a sitcom doing a terrorism parody, because the WWE is certainly not any more high-brow than your average sitcom. TV shows should stick to what they know. When they don't, you get bad TV. This was bad TV. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't get why this is making it okay to be all overly offended and pissy pants about the segment? It was on TV. It's not like the segment was set up to look like they jumped Undertaker (you know, the fake zombie guy) in a back alley and kept him in a prison, abusing him for days/weeks before making him sign a confession of his sins against the US before finally choking him nearly unconscious with a piano wire. It was in the ring. Hassan's manager was set up as the fall guy, sacrifice if you will, for some of Hassan's buddies to run out and jump him, attacking the wrestler who has REPEATEDLY beaten multiple guys in a viscious manner in order to weaken him for Hassan to be able to beat him when they wrestle IN THE RING. Nothing about terrorism, nothing about Jihads or Al Queada (or however it's spelled), nothing about bombing OR the city of London (Paul London was also absent). Religion was never mentioned. As far as I can remember, religion has NEVER been mentioned by Hassan (note: I have not watched RAW in over a year so I can't speak for that with absolute assurance). He's an Arab American not a Muslim (again, I think).
