I'm not sure. I purchased '04 back in the day because I got tired of playing my '02 game and have never bothered to buy another edition for it. Maybe people like the career mode where you can play multiple seasons or something (although I'm not sure if other Tiger Woods golf games have precluded this in the future because I've never played them). Maybe people also didn't find anything attractive about the other releases of the franchise because golfing games really don't change except for the course selection. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Tiger Woods franchise, especially with the custom courses the game produces which make playing very frustrating. What would really by awesome is a game that had 70+ golfers from the PGA Tour and you could have a franchise mode type of game with a golfer you create or choose to play as. They could add in tons of tour courses and try to make the season schedule as realistic as possible with a world rankings list, FedEx Cup stuff, etc. Hell, if they would ever throw in the Ryder Cup/Presidents Cup and the Accenture Match Play that'd make for a helluva game. The best golf game I ever played was PGA Championship Golf 2000 for the PC by Sierra Sports. You could set up your own tour in that game and could download courses like Augusta National, TPC at Sawgrass, etc., create golfers, and play with multiple modes. However, that was the last installment of the series because Sierra's people just started working on Tiger Woods all the time. Disappointing. -
It's pretty sad that I am going to be more interested in the Fall Finish tournaments than I am in the FedEx Cup. I agree that a points penalty of some sort needs to be instituted to players who skip playoff events. Tiger and Phil have set a really bad example by skipping out on playoff events and both did when they were in the POINTS LEAD. This could really set up badly next year with top golfers blowing off a few events and then some of the players who are near the bottom of the points standings in each of the playoff events just saying "screw it" and not even showing up thereby rendering the playoffs as a joke. After all, a player who starts the playoffs in 144th place has nearly no chance of winning the thing since they have to put together nearly three consecutive top three finishes to even make it to Atlanta. I also shudder to think of what next year is going to look like for the FedEx Cup without adjustments because with the Ryder Cup being positioned immediately after the FedEx Cup guys are going to have to play 5 weeks in a row and I don't see that happening. Either one or more playoff events are going to take a hit because of this OR players are going to skip out on the Ryder Cup which wouldn't be very popular. Maybe they should just institute a "break" in between the four playoff events but as CanadienChris pointed out above that's problematic for the Tour's TV schedule. I also think the PGA Tour needs to start doing a "PGA TV" thing on their website like the MLB. Some of us don't get the golf channel and as a result I'm going to miss out on all of the tournaments after the TOUR Championship. That hardly seems right. I think the International have a good chance to win the Presidents Cup as well. Their team is stacked in terms of world rankings versus the United States team but the U.S. always seems to come alive in the Presidents Cup as of late and then go dormant in the Ryder Cup. Also, did anyone miss the International tournament as much as I did this year? I hated the fact that the tournament shut down because I loved the stableford scoring system. Some tournament needs to adopt that because it was fun to watch and was just a taste of something different during the regular season.

ECW/Smackdown Spoilers for the 9/4 and 9/7 airings

Me either. However, one of the biggest mark out moments in wrestling was when Vince beat HHH to win the WWF Championship in 1999 on Smackdown! -

Has anyone here bought Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 for PS2? I've heard that the game is very glitchy so I'm hesitant to lay down the money to buy it. I haven't bought a Tiger Woods game since '04 but since this has the addition of the FedEx Cup I'm a little interested. -
I'm actually disappointed Vijay hasn't played better in the first two playoff events. I like his style of play and how he's always grinding it out. The guy just loves to play golf and the FedEx Cup is made for a guy like him that loves to play 4-5 tournaments in a row before taking a week off. He could still make a run with two events to go but he had better start pulling out some top 5 finishes. Some are speculating that Mickelson is pissed that Finchem is making the players play in the pro-am events on the Wednesday of the FedEx Cup playoff events. Since his kids start school Wednesday that would force him to miss that and he's not happy. There is also speculation that he's mad at the deferred payment structure of the FedEx Cup, mad that Finchem let Tiger skip the first event when Finchem was pressuring Mickelson to play in all 4, and just simply mad that the Tour catered the FedEx Cup moreso to Tiger's wishes by making Cog Hill the third playoff event (a venue Tiger does well at and Mickelson doesn't). Who really knows. I think Mickelson should've handled that in private instead of lashing out in public but hell, I hate Tim Finchem with a passion so its whatever to me.

Looks like Claussen is going to get his first collegiate start this weekend for Notre Dame versus Penn State. Talk about a rough debut.
-
That roster totally blows. I hate the amount of divas they constantly put into the game as playable characters which just waste roster spots. Also, the legends list sucks. The only interesting guy in there is Rick Rude.
-
Did the Clemson Tiger just do a "you can't see me" gesture?
-
And Phil might not even play. He mentioned that he feels torn in wanting to play but may not because Finchem hasn't responded to some requests he made earlier in the year. I have no idea what that is about. However, I think it's ridiculous that Phil/Tiger have pushed hard for the realignment of the season and to have these playoffs and then start skipping events. If Phil doesn't play next week I'll just have to root for Stricker to win the FedEx Cup because at least he's playing all of the events.
-
Well I guess I'll take that back. Why does Phil ALWAYS have to implode down the stretch?
-
Anyone else think Tiger is a little rattled by Phil's play in this round? He hasn't gotten any momentum going and I think he's not responding well to the pressure Phil put on him with those first three birdies he made in five holes.
-
Phil is putting together one of the best rounds of golf I've ever seen him play. His up and down just a minute ago at number 9 was amazing. And Tiger makes bogey on #9 to fall four behind Phil.

There's a moratorium on teams moving from I-AA to I-A, AFAIK. Western Kentucky U, who got stomped by Florida today, is a provisional I-A member and is the last one for a while. As someone who attends WKU I was puzzled that we got a promotion to I-A. Granted, we won I-AA in 2002 but we've struggled over the last few seasons in the Gateway Conference. We'll be headed to the Sun Belt if we step up from provisional status but I'd prefer going to the MAC. It's just tough to get motivated to go to games because the only "rival" in that conference would be Middle Tennessee State. Part of me also wonders if WKU will be able to meet the 15,000 attendance requirement to make the move to the next level. They are adding more seats to our football stadium but I still don't know if that gets up to 15,000 or not. Either way, not a big deal for me. I root for UK football and by the time I leave WKU they'll still be on experimental status anyway.
-
Man it sucks going 11/14, getting the big games right, and still losing. I should've known better than to pick Central Michigan since they got blown apart by UK last year but I seemed to have forgotten that when making predictions. I guess if there's any positives to take away from this week it's that I had a decent percentage of correct picks and my loss isn't a conference loss.
-
Heisman front-runners now that Henne and Hart are done: 1. JD Booty, QB, USC 2. Colt Brennan, QB, Hawaii 3. Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville (despite the bush-league running up of the score against SEMO) 4. Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas 5. Steve Slayton, RB, West Virginia 6. Pat White, QB, West Virginia None of these are a real surprise, but it certainly does thin the herd early. I agree with that list. Andre Woodson from UK might get an invite to New York if he keeps putting up consistent numbers but he'd only be a seat warmer. There's no way he'll win the Heisman. My money is on McFadden to take it. And unlike King I need the scoring to STOP in the TN-Cal game to win my pick'em game this week. Damn tiebreakers.....
-
Looks like I'm going to fall on a tiebreaker unless Tennessee and California suddenly go cold on offense.

The App St. win will go down in college lore forever. It might not be as big if App St. had beaten the #25 team in the country but they beat the #5 team in the nation that some were predicting would be in the national title game this year and played in the Rose Bowl last season. It just blows my mind that Michigan lost today. I'm getting a lot of enjoyment from Wake Forest-Boston College. One young man on defense for Boston College has three picks on the day.
-
In other news, I'm surprised at how fast Wake Forest has gone up on Boston College 14-0.
-
Those message boards are hilarious. The whole fan base is having a collective meltdown with people calling for Carr to be fired, people wanting to sell their tickets, people calling this the worst Michigan team ever, etc. Hilarious stuff.
-
Didn't they do this because they were out of timeouts?
-
Remember also that Appy had to block another FG earlier in the fourth quarter to keep within a FG of Michigan after they took the lead.
-
Wow, I need to see highlights from the finish in this one. This has to be one of the biggest upsets in college football history even though Appalachia State has won some I-AA crowns.
-
Guess Appalachian State is going to have to block another FG.
