Looks like the WWE tradition of having superstars lose in their hometowns is going to continue at Unforgiven. What the hell is up with this company doing that? Worse than that he's going to lose in HIS specialty match.

What's really sad is that JR says Cena is the #1 contender for Edge's title. What's even more sad, though, is that the ranks are so depleted I can't name a top contender other than Cena right now.

What a great way to start RAW with yet more recapping of the McMahon-DX feud.

And that's sad. Whatever happened to the good old days of announcers like Monsoon/Ventura elaborating on how if a wrestler lost they'd fall further down the rankings or the wrestlers were out there fighting for "the winner's money."

This doesn't look good at all. Also, Israel has just struck the Palestinian Foreign Ministry in Gaza so we look to have a two-front conflict on our hand right now with the Israelis going after Hamas in Gaza and focusing on Hizbullah in Lebannon.

Ultimate Warrior vs. Rick Rude for the IC Belt @ SummerSlam 1989 is one of my favorites. The match is a MILLION times better than their WrestleMania match and the crowd is hot for everything in it. Plus, who can ever forget Ventura's rant against Tony Schiavone after he justifies the Warrior hitting Rude with the IC title belt because its outside the ring. Paraphrased: "What do you mean Schiavone? You mean Warrior can SHOOT Rude outside of the ring and it would be legal? Your a bigger idiot than I thought!" People forget SummerSlam 1989 a lot but it had some great wrestling. Two other great matches came out of that card: *The Brain Busters vs. Hart Foundation opener *The six man tag with Tito Santana & The Rockers vs. Rick Martel & The Rougeau Brothers I also concur with a previous poster about the six man tag with Tatanka & The Smoking Gunns against Bam Bam Bigelow & The Headshrinkers at SummerSlam 1993. That triple flying headbutt spot was awesome even though it missed.

I'm very disappointed with what some of the reviews are of this DVD. I used to be a big Vince mark back in the late 1990s and am sad that only a few minutes of the DVD is devoted to pre-1998. I would've liked to hear more about how the WWF was struggling in the mid-1990s and such but I'm not surprised that aspect wasn't included in this DVD because they wouldn't want to make it appear that they were ever struggling. Surprised they didn't put Vince's title win over HHH on here. That's kinda ridiculous. Do some people around here believe that on some of these DVD's they don't include much of the past because they don't want fans seeing how good some of those days were and then asking themselves why we end up with the crap we have now?

Better question: who the hell cares about the word "belt" being stripped from the wrestling lexicon? Like the average fan isn't going to care and be all "wrestling isn't cool because they called that a belt!"

Didn't they use a tag title when Perfect won? I think I remember seeing that. I know the WWF Magazine that reprted Perfect's win had either a really weird angle where you couldn't see the belt or it had a really bad editing job in an attempt to stick the IC belt in after the fact. Was there any reason for this, like the Warrior losing the belt prior to the tournament? Good observation and I forgot to ask about this too. It's definitely a tag team title belt and its funny how the camera IMMEDIATELY cuts away when Heenan takes the belt from Perfect and thrusts it into the air. On the tape I have I believe there is a lot of piped in crowd noise because the boos appear too loud for the arena the match was held in.

Anyone know why the 1990 WWF IC Title tournament was so rushed? I mean in the first round Tito Santana beat Akeem and then Brutus Beefcake and Dino Bravo went to a draw (thanks to Perfect). Perfect then beat Snuka and we got another draw with Piper-Martel. Were they just trying to protect everyone in this tournament or what because as a young mark I gave Santana NO chance at winning this match since he just jobbed to Barbarian at WM 6 and had been dominated by Rick Martel in their feud. I have the final match of that tournament on the WWF Battle of the Superstars 1990 tape and Jesse Ventura is hilarious during that match telling Vince that "Chico" is fighting "Tiajuana style" and that back in his marine days people called him the "Prince of Tiajuana." Match is decent but the commentary is absolute gold thanks to Ventura.

Definitely echo this. As a young mark I was totally into this angle and the end was such an "oh shit" moment because of how well they built it through the entire show. Nowadays, though, we can't even dream of angles like this because the writers have no clue what they are doing.

I love both guys but I also have to give the nod to Savage. Sometimes Hennig appeared to just zone it in and it made his matches pretty bland (ala vs. Brutus Beefcake at WrestleMania VI). Savage was just insane and I loved every bit of it. The poster who previously said Savage's WM record says it all is definitely correct. When I think of Hennig I only remember his matches against Bret Hart but when I think of Savage I remember the battles against Hogan, DiBiase, Dusty Rhodes, Ultimate Warrior, Jake Roberts, etc. That pretty much says it all in my opinion.

Boy I can't wait for this SummerSlam rematch just so WWE can stick it to the paying customer!

I completely agree with that bit. I'm the only wrestling fan in my entire family... and I pray to God that none of them ever turn on a WWE show. I literally can't watch wrestling in the same room with a friend or relative who's a non-fan. Because it usually takes less than ten minutes for something incredibly tasteless and offensive to happen, and I just can't justify it to them. What am I gonna say? "Yeah, I know it's probably the stupidest show on TV, but I watch it anyway. What? Do I LIKE it? No... not most of the time. Why do I still watch it then? . . . " I totally hear this argument. I'm in the same boat and I go through this every week when RAW comes on and my dad wants to watch something else and then shakes his head when characters like Eugene are on or when Viscera was humping people like nuts last summer. Funny part is that every time he comes in and I'm watching when I'm home from college he starts asking me where Mr. Perfect is or the Big Bossman or Jake the Snake and I have to tell him that they are either broke, drugged out, or dead. Just freakin' sad.

I didn't know WWE was giving 2 Cold Scorpio another look.

Does anyone think WWE is getting a little scared of UFC cutting into its market? I know the two are opposite in what they offer but you have to think there is some crossover between wrestling fans and the MMA market and from reports the UFC major pay-per-views are outgrossing the domestic share of WWE PPV's. If that's the case could this prompt some action by WWE to get its act together?
