I also wouldn't mind Booker T winning the World title but I know it's not going to happen. Besides, doesn't JBL have a decent track record at putting other wrestlers over?

    TSM 2006 NBA Playoffs thread

Bulls just let a golden opportunity to go up 3-2 slip away tonight in a terrible fourth quarter. Oh well, now it's time for the main event of the evening: Phoenix vs. Los Angeles!

Well I didn't simulate my matches, I actually picked someone and played and it was funny when the computer would beat me unexpectedly and I'd have to change my booking plans on the fly....well maybe not that funny. I remember crazy things like that happening in WM 2000 as well. I remember Bradshaw was always a beast in my game and I'd always have to fight him around the Royal Rumble or in February in a steel cage match. That guy was nearly impossible to beat in those things on Hard difficulty.

    Fuck you, Newsweek.

Ah, economics...a lost art in our schools. I was able to burn up my Micro and Macro classes last year simply because I follow the news and taught econ to myself but I wish my schools offered AP Macro/Micro because it would've eliminated 9 hours of econ credit for me in college. As far as judging schools part of me thinks it's damn near impossible. For one, states continue to set their own independent standards so that makes it hard to compare schools in one state to another state. Also, if you simply go by GPA's you don't take into account grade inflation as much (for example, you have the Geography football teacher who gives worksheets and grades without checking vs. the Geography teacher who does care and grades hard). Now with graduation rate I think your really saying something about the school but even that can be impacted by socioeconomic factors. All in all, I don't know if there is a clear way to distinguish what are the best schools but I know Newsweeks method listed above is flat out stupid.

    The OAO Raw Thread 5/1/06

I was just glad that last night's show had a decent build throughout and made some sense in the main event. You had the Kenny-Cena match announced at the start, the making of HBK as special referee of the Kane match (which played into him refereeing the main event), the meeting between Vince-HHH when Vince basically told HHH to screw off and decreasing HHH's effort as the referee of the main event, then the match itself followed by the DX tease and HBK coming down to count the final pin. That's more buildup for a RAW main event in quite some time and I also thought that the RVD/Carlito vs. Masters/Shelton match was pretty good with a nice finish to further a possible Haas-Benjamin angle. Coupled with the Joey Style angle last night the writers have an opportunity to make RAW interesting for me again but my confidence in them to deliver isn't very high for obvious reasons.

Well this title change doesn't surprise me since they don't seem to want to throw Cena or HHH to the wolves at the ECW pay-per-view to face Rob Van Dam. The only reason I'm sketchy on this title change is that although I do like JBL he got SQUASHED by the friggin' Boogeyman less than five months ago at the Royal Rumble. Are the fans just supposed to forget about that? Then again, if JBL is only winning the title to potentially job it to RVD at One Night Stand then I doubt the fans will care too much. Also, it's not surprising that Rey isn't getting a long world title reign. After all, keeping the belt on a guy his size for so long just isn't believeable especially against a hoss like JBL.

Wow, after nearly a year I can finally say that I just saw a pretty damn good RAW tonight. Too bad I didn't tape it.

Well that segment still wasn't as good as J.R. coming back in early 1999 and kicking Michael Cole below the belt.

Wow, even after destroying Ric Flair Umaga has no heat. Also, I'm so glad Coach isn't on commentary tonight.

    The WWE Backlash '06 Thread...

I only know Backlash is tonight because the pay-per-view is at Rupp Arena. However, I have to study for finals in Bowling Green at WKU so I couldn't make the show which really blows since pay-per-views don't come here very often.

    WCW Games

I ran my own feds on both WCW vs. NWO World Tour and WCW vs. NWO Revenge. I already described my adventures on the WCW vs. NWO World Tour fed I had in another thread a long time ago but in Revenge I had some fun times. I used the 40-man Battle Royal feature to have my own World War III tournament every year which only sucked b/c I couldn't control what order/guys would be in the match (something No Mercy fixed). Also, I missed how I couldn't do tag team elimination matches in Revenge like World Tour. Anyway, I had 12 big shows a year with me giving slogans to my Souled Out pay-per-views (which I had in January, April, August, and November-just called this one World War III), had some Clash of the Champions shows where I stuck with the Nitro arena (had those in March, May, and September), had two SuperBrawls with one in February and another in June which would be where I would have a Lethal Lottery tournament, and then the typical Bash at the Beach, Halloween Havoc, and Starrcade shows. Also, I did four Monday Nitros in a given month with 5-6 matches a show with the TV and Cruserweight titles being constantly defended. I did about three years of this fed before WM 2000 came out, but my major storyline centered on me building a "Corporate Team" with Bret Hart, the Giant, Sting, Scott Hall, Lex Luger, and that Black Ninja guy (can't remember his name that well) and how they took over WCW. The resistance was challenged by Randy Savage, Goldberg, the Steiner Brothers, Kevin Nash, and Rey Mysterio. My second annual Starrcade saw the feud pick up where in the undercard Luger beat Nash after interference, Sting & Hall became the tag champs over the Steiner Brothers, Goldberg beat the Giant, and in the main event Randy Savage dethroned the 7 month World title reign of Bret Hart. I continued the feud by having Hulk Hogan arrive in the yellow trunks and aid Savage as he fought off the Giant, Sting, Hall, Ninja, and Luger in successive pay-per-view events and then had Raven show up as the new corporate team member and challenge Savage in a no-DQ match at the June edition of SuperBrawl for the title. After 10+ minutes Raven smashed Savage with a chair and DDT'd him and won the title thereby prompting a feud with Hogan (who won the Lethal Lottery tournament after pinning Ultimo Dragon...yea sounds weird but the Dragon was on fire during this tournament and I couldn't beat him) that culminated in Hogan defeating Raven in a career vs. title/ending of the corporation match and thereby blowing off that feud for good. All in all, it was one of my more memorable storylines that I put together aside from the whole Luger-Glacier feud I had going in my World Tour game. Looking back on it I really put a lot of miles into those games and even though they cost me like $50 I sure got my value out of them moreso than the WWF games.

New Bush Press Secretary is former Fox News Host

This should make for some interesting press conferences as Tony can be tough when he wants to be unlike Scott who just seemed lost most of the time.

    NHL 2006 Playoffs thread...

I'm so pissed with the NHL TV deal as well. The area where I reside doesn't carry OLN so I'm relegated to just the games that are shown on NBC. I dunno who orchestrated this TV deal but it's really hurting the fans that don't pay for the Ice package.
