If we find him who says that we have to say that we actually found him? We could just kill him and still say that he's "on the run" or whatever. This way you don't have the international community up in arms over the "inhumane treatment" of a man who doesn't care about humanity in the first place. It'd be a massive cover-up, but in this instance it'd be totally warranted.

I have no problem with a justice who is highly qualified regardless of their political ideology getting onto the Supreme Court. For example, I disagree with Stephen Breyer's judicial philosophy a lot yet believed he should've been confirmed because he was qualified enough to be a justice. Therefore, I don't think this is going to blow up in my face at all. I love how we always get the "out of the mainstream" talk whenever a conservative is nominated. Where was such talk when Ruth Bader Ginsburg was nominated and she had worked in the higher offices of the ACLU, an organization that was founded on the premise of defending communists and draft dodgers. Hell, you can't get much more left-wing than that. All in all, the only reason this is a battle is because liberals have lost every other branch of government. They don't control the executive branch and they don't control the legislative branch anymore. The Supreme Court is the very last stand for their influence in a branch of government and that is why they are fighting so hard to keep it from being given a conservative majority. I can't say I blame them but they are going about it in the wrong way.

Yea, taking out Al-Jazeera would be an awful idea for the reasons pointed out above. Also, Osama isn't getting a truce although it wouldn't surprise me if some far, far, far left loony says we should sign the truce and have them leave us alone. That would be akin to making a Munich Pact-like agreement that would just be downright silly.

Mark my words: if the Democrats filibuster Alito two things are going to happen: #1-The Bush Administration will nominate a justice who is even more conservative than Alito which will prompt more filibusters #2-The Democrats will be painted as obstructionists like they were in 2002 and will lose in 2006 The Democrats have clearly lost this battle. Alito didn't do much during the confirmation hearing that would prompt a filibuster or the majority of the country to support such a move like that. If the Dems filibuster after the smackdown they received during the hearings all the GOP has to do is show that crap till November and the Democrats are toast. This is why the Democrats aren't mounting serious opposition to take back control of Congress this November b/c they are too busy with their petty squabbles over a Roe v. Wade decision that is NOT in jeopardy (Anthony Kennedy is going to vote w/the 4 liberals to give us 5-4) instead of crafting POLICY POSITIONS to win. I might be conservative, but I don't sell my vote to the GOP. I'm open to voting Democrat but they've got to give me SOMETHING other than "we're not Bush, Delay, or Cheney" to win.

I forsee WWE doing something stupid and turning Edge face after getting rid of Lita and then having HHH win the Rumble (as a heel) and winning @ WM (as a heel). How any of that makes any sense booking wise is beyond me, but it's TOTALLY what I expected WWE to do. I am totally outraged if Meltzer is right about the WWE wanting to put HHH and Orton into the main event. I think HHH needs a WM match that doesn't involve the belt since he's been in a title match every WM over the last seven years except WM 17. A JBL-HHH match would help solve that. However, I don't know what their hard-on for Orton is. The only way they could've made this work is if he beat Taker @ Armageddon, but that didn't happen. Orton has zero credibility right now to challenge for the title but WWE just doesn't seem to care. I forsee this WM being a nice conclusion to the "screw the fans" mentality by WWE that we've had to endure since WM 21 concluded. Bravo to Bret for saying them to screw off with the Bret-McMahon deal and the fact that creative thinks he's going to be there shows how out of touch with the product they really are. Funny to see that he sort of has WWE by the balls now after his DVD has been released.

I think the WWE should change a direction with the divas to some degree and make them more managerial-like. For example, I always loved Sunny in 1996 b/c she was a creative manager of three successive tag teams. I think the WWE might be better off scrapping the women's division entirely and making someone like Trish Stratus the leader of some type of heel stable. Heel Trish is pretty damn awesome in my view.

Ultimate Warrior Files Lawsuit Against WWE
Danville_Wrestling replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
Well it's not like we didn't see this coming a long time ago. Part of me hopes Warrior wins just to show the WWE that they can't just trash wrestlers careers who refuse to be part of their Hall of Fame or other promotional activities. Then again, if the WWE gets beaten in court I'm sure they'll create a gimmick out of it for Vince's own enjoyment. -
Pittsburgh at Denver Hard one to pick since I didn't foresee either of these teams getting to this round in my picks last week. However, even with Cower's meltdowns in the AFC Championship games he's going into someone elses territory for this game and I think the Pittsburgh D will be able to confuse Plummer enough to escape with a win. Plus, I kinda want the Steelers to win just to say that my Bengals lost to the eventual AFC Champs. Carolina at Seattle I picked Carolina to come out of the NFC when the playoff bracket was first set and I'm not going to change my prediction here. I just can't get behind Seattle at a game at this level of the playoffs. However, the wild card will be how Carolina fares against a playoff tested quarterback this time around as opposed to Eli and Rex.
-
Doesn't it appear wrong to everyone else that the WOMEN's angle seems to be one of the better built up segments week in and week out?
-
Can't wait for the AFC & NFC Championship games and that's been the first time I've been able to say that in a long time. I can't believe I'm rooting for Pittsburgh to go to the SB, but it'd make me feel better knowing my Bengals got knocked out by the eventual AFC Champs. Officiating was totally bogus this weekend. How the refs made a bogus PI call last night against the Pats, took away Pittsburgh's late INT against Indy, and then somewhat screwed over Chicago by not calling delay of game (like how HARD is it to call that?) is beyond me. Hopefully none of these damn crews will be working any more playoff games this postseason.
-
What a TERRIBLE call on that INT. Anyone else get the feeling that Pittsburgh is gonna fall apart here down the stretch?

Can anyone save the party from completely sinking? It seems like the guys who might have a chance are being ignored for the psychotic section of the party. I'm getting more and more worried who they are going to run in 2008. I totally agree. The more I think about it, Mark Warner may be the Democrats best chance in 2008 but no one is giving him the time of day b/c he might rain on the "Hillary parade" in two years. I swear, if I hear one more partisan pundit call Hillary Clinton a moderate I'm going to puke. I also agree that Roe v. Wade is a smoke screen for Alito. Roe v. Wade should be overturned as far as I'm concerned b/c I don't agree that the Constitution gives the woman a right to an abortion and I think that decision should be given in state legislatures moreso than any other body. One of the reasons the abortion debate is so crazy here as opposed to our international counterparts is they legislated on this issue rather than having the courts impose a decision from above, something that has fanned partisan flames for over the last 30 years. Aside from this, though, I still see the margin of upholding Roe on the court, assuming Alito gets confirmed, at 5-4 b/c I don't see Anthony Kennedy voting to change his decision in 1992 and overturning it. Thus, the Roe v. Wade debate has just changed from 6-3 to 5-4 (Breyer, Stevens, Ginsburg, Souter, and Kennedy vs. Thomas/Scalia/Roberts/Alito).

As much as I hate to say it, I'd put my money on HHH winning the damn Rumble.

Dawn Marie files complaint against WWE
Danville_Wrestling replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
Good for Dawn Marie, I was hoping she'd do this when she got released this past summer. WWE is clearly in violation of federal working statutes with this one so they might as well fork over some cash and avoid a trial. -

I'm surprised no one has commented about similar statements made by Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadenejad, but it seems the mainstream press would rather pick up statements from a wacko Christian fundamentalist than an Anti-Semite. -
Well I'm batting 4 for 4 so far. My predictions for next week: Washington at Seattle (Although I'll root Washington) New England at Denver Pittsburgh at Indianapolis Carolina at Chicago

OAO NY Revolution Thread 8/1/2006
Danville_Wrestling replied to Team Angle Pusher's topic in The WWE Folder
WWE Champion John Cena vs. Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Masters vs. Carlito vs. Kane (Elimination Chamber Match) Big Show vs. Triple H Intercontinental Champion Ric Flair vs. Edge Gregory Helms vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler Ashley vs. Maria vs. Torrie Wilson vs. Victoria vs. Candice Michelle (Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match) Women's Champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James Not a really spectacular card. I'd love HBK to turn heel and win the Elimination Chamber, but not going to happen. I don't see why HHH would be booked to lose at this point, why Edge would need the IC belt due to MITB, who cares about Helms-Lawler, who cares about Bra & Panties ESPECIALLY with a damn Mae-Moolah run-in (like WTF?!?!), and I think its a forgone conclusion that Trish loses the belt. As far as what was posted about Masters above: hasn't the WWE worn out the whole "he's the youngest ever WWE Champion" bit in recent years? First it was the Rock, then it was Lesnar, then it was Orton. I mean how far is this gonna go? Sooner or later a ten year old is going to be wearing the belt. -
I hear ya. However, NJ is nothing. If you don't have speed watch out for when you finally have to play Tampa b/c I haven't been able to beat them yet and the last game I played them in was an utter embarassment.

Yahoo! Fantasy Golf Head-to-Head League Invitation
Danville_Wrestling posted a topic in Fantasy Sports
I'm not sure if anyone on this message board plays Yahoo! Fantasy Golf, but I thought I'd put out an advertisement for those who might be interested. This is the second season my head-to-head league on Yahoo! Sports. Last year's league had 36 teams and was fiercly competitive throughout. Here is the league ID/password to gain access: ID: 2289 Password: shark Here is what the league schedule looks like: *Pod-matching play based on win-loss records for the first five weeks (ex. 2-0 teams play other 2-0 teams, 0-2's play 0-2's, etc.) to break the league into divisions based on records. *Two full rotations of division play to crown division champions and prepare for division tournaments (think conference tournaments in the NCAA) *At least three rotations of play between divisions *Division tournaments starting in week 30 or 31 of the season. The brackets are based on how well a team's division record is. The winners of the division tournaments get the top seeds in the league championship tournament. *Last six weeks of the season sees the mammoth SINGLE-ELIMINATION LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP tournament where ALL TEAMS qualify and are seeded as follows: 1-Division winners seeded by overall record 2-Regular season division winners who did not win their division tournament seeded by overall record 3-The rest of the teams are seeded by their overall record to that point Finally, players compete for three "titles" during the year: *United Cup: Awarded to the team who wins the league championship tournament *Kierk Trophy: Awarded to the team that has the most points accumulated through all 40 weeks of the season *Buick Cup: Awarded to the team with the most wins during all 40 weeks of the season (includes regular season, division tournament play, and league championship play). Yahoo! Fantasy Golf Head-to-Head League Invitation
Danville_Wrestling replied to Danville_Wrestling's topic in Fantasy Sports
Haha, I just name it the Kierk trophy after my grandfather who taught me golf. As far as how to play Fantasy Golf it works like this: *You pick various golfers out of a list of categories (A, B, C) every week for a particular tournament. Yahoo! has you pick two golfers out of category A, four from those listed in B, and two from C. Also, a golfer can only be "started" ten times during the season so in other words, you may want to save Tiger for the four majors & two stroke play WGC events instead of the Buick tournaments. *You have to "start" golfers from each category for every round of a tournament. For example, you have to start one golfer out of the two you chose for category A, two of the four you chose for B, and one of the two you chose for C. *Yahoo! gives you points based on each golfer's performance per round at a tournament. If a player has the best score of the round they get 20 points for you. If they are second best they get 18 pts. for you. Third best is 16 pts., etc. Also, golfers can earn "bonus" points for placing 1st (+20 bonus pts.), 2nd (+10 bonus pts.), and 3rd (+5 bonus pts.) at the tournament. *You can change out players in each category after each round has concluded, but you can only rotate players you have already selected. For example, if you chose Tiger Woods & Vijay Singh in category A, started Tiger for the first two rounds and he misses the cut, you can only rotate in Vijay and NOT choose another golfer from category A b/c you chose your 8 golfers before the tournament started (2 in A, 4 in B, 2 in C). *Yahoo! adds up all of your points at the end of the tournament and that's your team's score for the week and that is the score I compare to another team to determine who wins/losses. Finally, Yahoo! Golf is very in-depth for a season as it spans 40 weeks. You have to know what are players best tournaments so you don't waste their starts on terrible ones. Also, when you have to pick for cruddy tournaments like the Chrysler Classic @ Greensboro it can be crazy trying to find quality golfers to pick for that week. -
That is pretty funny. Sylvia Brown has been TOTALLY discredited in recent years, especially when she told a KY woman who lived in my area where to find the body of her dead daughter on an episode of Montel Williams and it turned out to be a fraud. Nice to see her get caught over her own words.

That's what it reminded me of as well. The 24/7 media era we are living in has made me lose confidence in ANYTHING that's reported until I've seen sufficient proof that backs up what they say. Last night when I heard all 12 were alive I wasn't convinced until I saw them brought up out of the ground and for once it seems my pessimism was confirmed. Terrible tragedy, though, for the victims families and they are already talking lawsuit, which considering the mine's past history of violations seems to have a good chance of winning.

Sharon suffers second stroke

Very unfortunate incident considering that it looked like the Israel-Palestine issue was actually moving somewhere. Anyone know details concerning Ehud Olmert's policy stances considering that he's now the active prime minister of Israel? -
Thanks for the post. I'll have to keep that in mind when booking my fed after I unlock all of the Legends and start putting my Legend CAW's in the game.
