    Batista out indefinitely

I remember seeing some crazy idea floating around the 'net about how they should book the Undertaker in the World title match @ WM, have him come out in his "old school" grey attire, win the match, and then at the end have a lightning bolt strike the ring and lights go out and when they came back on the championship belt would be lying in the middle of the ring with the Undertaker gone forever. Sounds insane and ain't gonna happen, but would sorta cap the career real well.

This has not been a good year for the Republicans.

but if they lose...Kwesi Mfume's shot at succeeding Paul Sarbes in Maryland to Lt. Gov. Michael Steele then they're back to that 55-45 ratio. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think there's another guy running in the primaries against Mfume in MD that is leading himi in primary polling and leading the incumbent in general election polling. Edit: Ben Cardin is the guy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the correction. I was just doing some research on this race and everyone kept talking about Mfume, go figure.

Because I didn't see this posted here yet...

Does France have a big illegal immigration problem? Let's keep in mind that France is ardently assimilationist and very much against multiculturalism. I don't think there's a huge threat in the US for massive Mexican-American riots because we generally require only acculturation, not complete assimilation here. America is, as a rule, more accepting of heterogeneity and less xenophopic than France. America has been referred to as a "melting pot," but I would argue that we are actually more of a salad bowl. France has more of a melting pot policy, in that they expect immigrants to completely assimilate. America tends to celebrate differences and diversity. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good point. France does, though, have an illegal immigration problem as North Africans are starting to come to it by way of Spain (mostly from Morocco). It may not be as large as the U.S. or other countries, but it happens.

This has not been a good year for the Republicans.

Amen, that ticket would kick some serious BUTT, but I dunno if they'll nominate both of those guys. I'd give Warner a better shot at winning the primaries than Bayh b/c of his tremendous approval ratings in VA, but knowing the Dems they'll go with Hillary due to the crazy interests that are trying to take over the party. In fact, as a conservative I've seen Bush's two terms as a major disappointment and don't even feel like he represents conservative views all that well. Heck, I voted for Nader in the last election. I think in 2008 my vote will be up for grabs again and to some degree it'll be the Democrats to lose (but they already lost it in 2004). If the Dems are going to do anything in the midterms it'd be to take back the House b/c in the Senate they are defending 18 of the 33 seats (and that includes Jim Jeffords seat in Vermont which is up for grabs), have to protect 'freshman' senators from 2000 (ex. Bill Nelson of FL), and protect vacant seats (ex. Paul Sarbanes in Maryland, Jeffords in Vermont, etc.). I think the Democrats could pick up a seat from Mike DeWine in Ohio and possibly Rick Santorum in Pennsylvania, but if they lose Bill Nelson's seat and lose Kwesi Mfume's shot at succeeding Paul Sarbes in Maryland to Lt. Gov. Michael Steele then they're back to that 55-45 ratio. Thus, after the midterms I wouldn't be surprised to see a Democratically controlled House and a GOP majority in the Senate along the lines of 52-48 or something around there. Edit: And also the Democrats have to avoid being dumb in dumping all of their attention and money into getting Hillary re-elected in New York in what promises to be a nasty campaign against Jeanine Pirro.

True, but you can play the matches and try to bury HHH that way.

Hence why it will probably happen.

    Austin Walks Out Again

I may not have been a fan of Austin's previous walkouts, but this one is entirely justified. If they were really wanting Hogan-Austin @ WM WHY have him lose to the Coach? It's lame ass booking like this that has me wondering just how long the WWE will remain around.

Words can't describe how embarrassed I feel to be a Leafs fan after the 8-0 pounding OTTAWA gave us last night. *Shakes head*

Another activist makes an ass of himself

I'd agree that colonization of Africa had negative impacts on human rights and based on ridiculous borders that drew many competing tribes together, BUT I think it was the fault of the world as to how colonialism ended negatively. After all, look to the Beligan Congo where Europeans were told by the world to LEAVE by activists IMMEDIATELY so the end result is they didn't leave an infrastructure for Africans to deal with. Also, a lot of these countries for better or worse NEED white people to teach them the tools to create a stable government since they've had little experience with these kind of bureaucracies. Unfortunately, though, as we've seen in South Africa since 1994 and in areas like Zimbabwe is that there is a massive "white flight" from the region which has been detrimental to Africa. Thus, the Europeans definitely screwed things up, but once again they haven't been the only people holding AFrica back. Finally, I'd say that a big problem with the black community in the U.S. today lies on an educational deficit. Black women seem to be doing well for themselves quickly outpacing black men in going to college, but black men seem to be the large group who is falling behind. A lot of it has been shown through research to do with a negative attitude towards education or that becoming very educated is "trying to be white", but you can't succeed in any country, more or less a democracy that is moving forward in an informationally based economy, without a good level of education. Therefore, in order to correct problems in the status quo the black community has to do a better job getting its young males educated because only then will the community be able to pull itself up and end the stereotypes other peoples and groups have for them. Oh yea, and this idiot talking about the extermination of white people should NEVER have gotten any air time in the first place and never should again. However, I'd bet that this won't get much play in the New York Times or something unlike if a white person had been calling for the extermination of blacks or some Jews calling for the extermination of Arabs.

    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

I'm still pissed about Jake only being in the PSP version, although I've loved seeing the work they've put into the Bret Hart & Ted DiBiase entrances.

    Bret Hart DVD!

Looks like an AWESOME DVD listing to me. I'm glad they included the Hakushi and Mr. Perfect KOTR matches in there too.

    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

Well I was always aware of the LoW series (thought they sucked), but with the WWE having lots of legends under contract couldn't they just create their own game with classic arenas, music, etc.? It's probably not a marketable idea so we'll most likely never see it, but just something I'd definitely buy.

    all-time top three wrasslin' games

1--No Mercy (N64) 2--WCW vs. NWO World Tour (N64) 3--(Tie) WWF Raw & Royal Rumble (SNES) I've never liked the gameplay in the Smackdown series of games. They just seem too arcadic to mee and the N64 series of games were my all-time favorites. I played the hell out of WWF Raw & Royal Rumble on my SNES. I dunno why I just didn't buy the games since as a kid I'd always use my one game rental a week when my mom took me to the video store on either one of those games. I also loved the "mega moves" in WWF Raw where Luna Vachon could become the 1-2-3 Kid jumping between turnbuckles, Yokozuna would cannonball into the canvas, Owen Hart would spin around like a tornado, and Doink would field goal kick people out of the ring. I also loved beating the hell out of the referee and seeing him just be like "screw this" and leave.

    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

Since the WWE loves to screw up the Legend list (not very happy w/three slots for Hogan and the absense of Old School Undertaker) why don't they just make a WWE Legends game?

I LOVED the Wild Card match from 1995. A replica of it by me would greatly be appreciated.

WWE news on the Ultimate Warrior DVD

No, thank God. Seeing that woman in the audience bawling over a wrestling angle insulted my intellect. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh c'mon. That's one of the best moments in wrestling history and one of the biggest WM moments of all time.

    OAO 10/1 Impact Thread

I too forgot that the Dudley's had signed with TNA and marked out hard when they came out as well. Hell, I even marked out for Nash when he appeared and Jackknifed Jarrett. VERY good show for a debut. I'll definitely be watching next week.

    Any First Time Viewers Tonight?

I saw Lockdown earlier in the year and a couple of their Internet shows, but not much else of the product. I'm very excited about watching tonight, though, because I'm tired of the WWE's stale b.s.

Who is the greatest Tag Team

Bret gets the pin on Hayes after a Hart Attack, but IRS clocks Neidhart with the briefcase when DiBiase and Bret are brawling in the corner and DiBiase covers for the pin when the referee gets Bret out of the ring. Winners: Money Inc.
