The Shield, season 5, official thread

Canadians: Looks like CH might be replaying the fifth season. The premiere is on tonight at 10. I did manage to see the finale on the day after, and man, that was some tension. You sensed something was going down, almost like the S3 finale, only it actually happened this time. I was surprised that Vic didn't know about it. I can't say I remember the first two seasons real well, but this was definitely my favourite of the last three.

The Shield, season 5, official thread

Yeah that didn't make any sense to me either. I'm downloading the finale because there's no way in hell I'm waiting until Sunday. I'm managing to get decent download speeds again (Rogers and their throttling can eatadick), so I'm sure I'll be watching it sometime Wednesday. Probably again on Sunday, just for the heck of it.

The Shield, season 5, official thread

First, Season 1 is starting tonight at 9 on Spike TV (US only). Second, the new episode that aired last night on FX doesn't seem to be on in Canada on CH until this coming Sunday, the 19th, at 10. Sorry if this has already been mentioned. I'm avoiding new posts for last night's spoilers.

The Shield, season 5, official thread

I liked the look on Vic's face after he was chased out of the office. I could be remembering it wrong, but I thought it seemed like he was showing Kavanaugh his usual smug face like, "Ok, you caught me. What are you gonna do about it?", while on the inside worrying, "Oh shit, he caught me. What's he gonna do about it?" The first season's airing on Spike TV starting Wednesday the 15th at 9. There's 3 episodes that night, and 3 more on Friday the 17th. I think it's on Fridays after that. But not in Canada. I don't know if it's cut or censored at all. Spike's website schedule's showing it rated as TV MA.

    UFC 58: Canada vs USA

I didn't see the show, but I did read an article in the paper about three guys on tonight's card being from London. It was mainly focused on Mark Hominick, but also mentioned Sam Stout and Rob MacDonald. Stout used to (and possibly still does) live just a little down the road, and during the few years I went to school in this area, I had a decent crush on his sister. Anyhow, it's cool that 2 of the 3 managed to pick up wins, especially if Yves Edwards is pretty much considered the top lightweight in the fed.

The OaO Arrested Development Season 3 thread

I'm still not thrilled that it's over, or the way Fox let it go out, but I'm happy with the episodes. My sister and I loved the toast gag at the start of the third episode. Unfortunately, neither ComaSense.com or ImNotScar.com lead anywhere.

    The Colbert Report

I watch both shows every day, and I don't think I could say I like one more than the other. They both have their on and off days. I really liked the episode a few weeks ago with the tribute to the American worker, then David Cross showing up for the first time as his liberal radio host character. The first one shown in Canada was good too. It's fun being "Dead to Him" as a man with a beard. This is my favourite Colbert quote, as TDS' "Senior Moral Authority": "The only reason my wife and I got married in the first place was because it was something gays couldn't do. Our wedding was conceived entirely as a giant homosexual taunt. But now the vows I made to my wife seem as shallow and empty as the vows I made to my three previous wives."

The OaO Arrested Development Season 3 thread

Looking at the schedule here in Canada, Global only seems to be showing 3 of the 4 episodes. At 8 is Next Great Chef. So check out Fox at 8, if you've got it.

    Arrested Development

My sister and I spent a few weeks watching the whole series. We got caught up last Sunday, in time for when I thought the 50th episode would air. That didn't work out so well. February 10th is the same day as the Olympic opening ceremony. I guess that sums up the show's future on Fox.

The Shield, season 5, official thread

CH seems to be airing season 5 in Canada, only one day after it airs on FX (Wednesdays at 10 ET). Beats the heck out of the year-long wait for the first three seasons. Edit: The first episode is set to air this Wednesday, anyhow. Zap2It is saying the premiere is being replayed next Wednesday (18th) on CHCH (Hamilton). It doesn't say which one will be on next week on CHEK (Victoria).

Need Help On Getting XPlosion Results

I'm pretty sure a lot of those matches on the WIA site didn't air. At least not on the Xplosions I saw. There's usually only one original match per week in the midst of Impact! recap, and Borash talking. If all else fails, I'll probably watch Xplosion every week, so you can ask me.

Where can I download The Shield season 4?

Not gonna be much use to you now, but season 4 just ended its run on CH last week. They didn't play the extended 10th episode (played 2x02 that week instead, I think). The channel Mystery is airing the end of season 3 now, so it's possible they'll keep going with season 4.

    That hilarious "Technical Difficulties" Screen

    TNA Turning Point

I thought the finish for Joe vs. Styles could've been better. They could've built the suspense a little better if the ref had done the standard 3-time arm drop. A lot of people would've thought AJ would keep the arm up, as is usually the case. When it went down the third time, it would've been a bigger shock. It would've played into the "Hulking Up" sequence near the end as well. A better camera angle would've helped too. As it was, I thought it lacked the punch that a major title change should have had. Other than that, I don't have any major complaints. Any spots that didn't work quite right were covered up pretty well.

The shocking twist: A Gilmore Boy Err. Anyhow. I just wanted to post this. Spoilers from a few episodes ago, if you actually read the banner.

    The Fight Network

http://www.thefightnetwork.com I don't see anything about the channel's debut on the website, but according to this, it's starting this coming Wednesday. Anyone else heard any news about it? There's gonna be some Ring of Honor, probably TNA, and plenty of boxing, MMA, and other legit fighting. If I'm subscribing to ESPN Classic Canada for clipped TNA shows from 2003, and old Off the Record, I'd might as well try to get this too.

    The Serenity movie thread

I hope the quick release, and potential lack of marketing doesn't hurt its DVD sales too. The project sure doesn't need any more financial kicks in the balls.

Bad news for Canadian Raw viewers..

I don't mind the move so much, as this past week was the first time I watched it live in a few months. My gripe is that they edit the replays for time. So we probably won't get the almost-complete version (minus "Boot of the Week"-type stuff, and anything the CRTC would object to) at all anymore.

    The Ultimate Fighter 2

I'm a pretty casual MMA fan (I've seen what Spike has put out for UFC, and not much else), and I loved it. I was pulling hard for Luke. Definitely one of those times that the "real" factor -- a real, interesting character, in a genuine competition, with something legitimate on the line -- added a lot to the experience.

    The Gilmore Girls

I just got caught up with this season. Between the goodness of the last episode, and my dad sneezing his ridiculous sneeze right after the penguin line, I had tears in my eyes from laughing so much. I hate it when this show gets its hooks in me. I go crawling around eBay for all but the first season (my sister got it for Christmas a few years ago), then get depressed when I realize I can't afford any of them.

    Matches you love

I really liked the Hardy vs. Benoit US Title tourney match too. RVD vs. Undertaker from Vengeance '01 was fun, as was RVD vs. Dreamer in the Hardcore Title unification match.
