WWE SmackDown - August 29, 2008
Cherry Blossom Viscount replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
Now, I know I'm giving the WWE too much credit, but I think that maybe they are intentionally going over the top with R-Truth's "motivating" story of redemption and adding in the K-Kwik dancing to have Truth come off as a corny do gooder who has lost his edge. Week after week, Truth comes out talking about his new positive path, he saves a few divas, talks trash to a chickenshit (but much cooler) heel like The Brian Kendrick but eventually the crowd turns on him. One day, some diva or lowly face is being beaten down and out runs R-Truth and smacks and runs the heel off and then he beats down the victim as well and cuts a promo reverting him back to the much more likable "The Truth" character from TNA. -
Comparing The Brian Kendrick to Mitch Hedberg
Cherry Blossom Viscount replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in The WWE Folder
I guess I'm the only one; but THE Kendrick seems like a drugged out, bisexual prima donna type heel character. It's played up enough for you to notice (his entrance and promos) but it's subtle and not over the top. -
A new poll is out....... Perhaps it's safe to say people weren't as ready for this guy as the hype would have you to believe. I think people like the idea of change more than the action required to accomplish it.

From what I can tell, she was trying to help Edge by slipping him the title, but Vickie stopped that. I think the reason it didn't seem to work, at least for me, was that I expected a swerve and Vickie was going to help Edge. However if you accepted Vickie as pissed at Edge, then the whole Alicia/Vickie interaction makes more sense. I still don't know who Edge was aiming to spear though. I think HHH should have been the target and moved, along with Alicia and the ref - all parting out of the way to leave Edge leveling Vickie. They seemed determined to run the heel pairing of Edge and a random black chick.

I didn't watch the feed until the end.

And what was Alisha doing down there anyways?
-
Edge better not turn face.
-
I just mean Vicki. The rest of LaFamilia would side with Edge or just kind of fade out of that storyline.
-
I think it would make for a good storyline where Edge would slowly but surely slut out a reluctant Alicia turning her into Lita 2.0 and eventually leading to Vickie having an emotional breakdown when all of LaFamilia turns on her leading to an exit from TV.

The look on JBLs face was priceless!

The title shot is set. Logic dictates, face or no face, the champion in a weakened state is more vulnerable. Then again, you can have Punk get ticked off and then eat a spinebuster... The title shot isn't set if Punk is injured, and incapacitated and isn't able to compete this Sunday. Plus, Batista wanting someone else to beat Punk up before Sunday, would essentially make him a, pussy. The kind of character he has would want his opponent at his strongest. That's why you spinebuster him after a match with a deranged Kane?

Wow, the tag champs are at Randy Orton 2003 heat levels. They seem to be pretty decent on the mic but I think fans are tired of the typical arrogant, young, white, cocky prettyboy heel character.

SmackDown Spoilers - July 11, 2008
Cherry Blossom Viscount replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
Guys guys guys, why have all of that wacky "entertainment" when we can just have a standard "camera catches and ruins everything" storyline leading to a bland face turn for one of the two of the top heels? What really needs to happen is the swerve mentioned by the other two posters and this leads to HHH doubting himself for being played like a fool. This leads to a fuck everything tweener character that eventually goes heel on someone like Punk after a random RAW run-in. I think HHH on a path of destruction would be pretty entertaining as I've never liked him as a face. This was basically my idea with Kane after the 2003 heel turn; he would go on a path of destruction spanning both shows taking out numerous superstars along the way before being bested by the returning Undertaker. Of course WWE thought it better to feed Kane to Shane so oh well. -
Up All Night With MarvinisaLunatic Part 2 Non Gulag Edition
Cherry Blossom Viscount replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in No Holds Barred
That's more of a compliment than an insult. Also, I remember the days when Marvin used to inspire sympathy and was generally a likeable guy. What happened? -
Um, yeah. Unless Jesus has a channel that shows Carlin being raped and tortured in the pits of hell and he is amused by it, I don't see Heaven being a much funnier place. Besides, with all of the various wrestling matches of the HWA (Heaven Wrestling Alliance) going on including the culmination of the epic Eddie Guerrero vs. Brian Pillman I doubt Jesus would even have time for such entertainment. I only really knew Carlin from his stint as Mr. Conductor and his short run as a crusty New York cabby on his TV show. I do remember his "religion rants" being quoted on the internet during debates on the matter as if a comedians take on religion was enough to end all debate. Whatever.

Regal's new theme + lack of intensity = Not a good king

Man, Remember That Bomb Ass Time On RAW
Cherry Blossom Viscount replied to The Niggardly King's topic in The WWE Folder
Anyone have a link to the Maven heel promo, I never got to hear it. -
Actually, Morley was getting over very nicely in RTC. It was the previous few months when WWE had strangely turned Val into a bland 1980's heel with a techno dance/house music mix as his theme song. Somehow, I forget how, Val became associated with RTC and became sort of the "main guy" under Steven Richards. Val also had an interesting heel run under his old Val Venis gimmick. It was actually a very well written storyline that involved all three of the top faces at the time (Rock, Foley, Austin) but since he didn't get HUGE heat out of the gate, it was dropped. Orton would not have survived the attitude era.
-
No, what would be better is for the faces to win, the heels get all angry and stuff and start beating them up. Then, HHH; SUPER FACE KING OF KINGS OMG~ comes down and beats up the heels without breaking a sweat. Then, he checks on the faces and pulls them up, dusts them off, soaks in a nice pop with them, and WHAM~ pedigree on all of them. Then, he just does that; "who me?" shrug to a standing ovation. Bah gawd! He just layed out Hardy, London and Kendrick! But you gotta love him! He plays by his own rules and that's how he got the WWE title!
-
I'm a HHH fan and I can't even take this anymore. We get it WWE; HHH is the best there was, is, and ever will be. But can't we just pull a Mr. Rogers and pretend, PRETEND, that for one second there is someone that's on his level?! Orton was built for months as THE HEEL, and HHH kills it with a roll up, a roll up. Come on WWE!
-
Jericho coming out and costing Orton the title, in what would appear to set up a feud, then returning a few moments later to brutalize a celebrating HHH would be so awesome. HHH needs to be either the great heel he used to be, or get beaten up every week. He is just horrible as a face.
