The last time Gunn returned as "The One" Billy Gunn, his pops were HUGE, and they lasted awhile. Enough for one smark to cry "The pop is dead" when they diminished one night. And Benoit has had a few periods of un-overness. Particulalry in mid 2000 right before his feud with the Rock started. The guy was drawing crickets. Another time would be right after the heel turn of 2002. People seem to like Benoit more as a face. However, this time he is doing nothing of note. In 2001, he was feuding with Austin and HHH. This time he is just.......there.

Flaming was first only allowed in NHB, then CE. Now it is seemingly a forgiveable offense anywhere. Before Dames and the mods started the last round of bannings, flaming was rampant everywhere, especially the WWE folder. I guess with Banky gone, people might actually watch how they behave as no one ever thought he would go.

Actually, trolling is not always deliberate. Banned poster Nestor, started a pro-HHH thread in the WWE folder and was immediately considered a troll, though that was not the intended purpose. However, I always see flaming as deliberate. More so than in speech, you have time to put some thought in what you're about to say. In speech, you can slip up and call someone a "fuckwad." When you're typing, you're thinking about what you're going to say, looking over it, and posting it with many chances to edit it out before someone sees it. Also, if you take the time to write up a page long FK Teale like diatribe in response to any debate whether over politics or potato chips, you're deliberatley taking the time to flame someone. Also, flaming can be like a WMD. Say two posters get into in a WWE thread. In the worst case scenario these are two posters with very high popularity and each have their different "hangers-on." Now, you not only have two people flaming each other, but a bunch of other lackeys as well and the topic goes down the drain. Eventually, a mod comes along and say take it to NHB and five pages later someone is like let's get back on topic. Perfect example are the numerous threds were RRR and Lord Curry flamed "WWE aplogists" and the mods failed to intervene. In a lighter scenario, two posters get into it and the flame each other on and on while others try to stay on topic. While it's not a melee so to speak, it ruins the enjoyment of the topic for others. Eventually a mod will wander in to play grade school prinicpal but only after it goes on for awhile. Also, there's the one person who will always flame you no matter what. If you're debating literature, you don't want someone calling you a fucking idiot because you have a different opinion. On these forums, I just think that flaming is an acccepted form of trolling. I don't think it's right that those that do not like trolling get appeased while those that are flamed, and often times wrongly, get looked at as weak. It's an obvious double standard for offenses that are almost identical.

So what DOES it mean wrestling guru? Also, Gunn's pops are as big as Benoit's in my opinion. Are you saying Benoit isn't over? And Billy Gunn was never over? Okay. Then Benoit, Guerrero, and Angle were never over either. Benoit's character and image is muck now. Somehow he's made a name for himself where he still draws pops. But how long will it last? He's been on the losing edge to hotter commodities like John Cena. He doesn't have Team Anlge to toss around anymore. He's been in the midcard forever. How long before the fans stop giving a shit. He doesn't have the character that can wait out the midcard like Cena or Angle or hell even Big Show. They'd be putting the belt on a waning wrestler. Gunn however IS over. Whenever a smark doesn't like somebody, they're not over. Ok. Sounds more like a mark to me. Anyway, Gunn is a semi-fresh face. The whole Billy/Chuck things is behind him and the crowd is hot for him. Why not strike now. Have him win the title have a hot feud with Hardy and Cena and have him drop the belt to one of them. Nothing offensive about that. Geez. Maybe the WWE is trying ONCE AGAIN to do something for Benoit. It's not like he spends his time in comedy skits and jobbing out on Velocity week after week. Since his pops are fading they're probably going to turn him heel, then you all can go, "OMG BENOIT KILLER HEEL~!"

It shouldn't be allowed anywhere. It's the hierarchy of sins, IMO. Flaming is no big deal to me, since I think most people who scream that they were "flamed" are weepy, thin-skinned drama queens who never learned to ignore someone in kindergarten. Posting useless shit just to get certain reactions out of people is worse, which is why it was codified that way in the rules. Technically, those complaining about trolling could be weepy, thin skinned drama queens that never leanred to ignore anybody in kindergarten. That best weapon against trolls is to ignore them, especially trolls like Banky that don't spam, but instead play on emotions. And technically flaming IS trolling. It's something that is used to draw a reaction from someone, and usually draws a reaction from the whole group. And flaming is more rampant than trolling, which is at least confined to the NHB folder, flaming is all over the board, particularly in the WWE folder. Just like trolling, it adds nothing and brings down good threads.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I always thought "X-Pac Heat" meant they are sick of seeing the person performing, not the character. You could push X-Pac to the moon, and do anything possible to get him over, but it wouldn't work since nobody wants to see him. In that sense, "X-Pac Heat" very bad. How can a heel getting booed be a bad reaction? X-Pac heat is just a term that was coined because the IWC hated X-Pac and didn't want to admit he had actual heel heat. Of course, during the ill fated InVasion angle when all the WWF guys were faces, X-Pac still got booed. That's the only instance of REAL X-Pac heat I've seen besides 1996 era Rock, Steiner, and to a lesser extent Nash and Goldberg. On this board, X-Pac heat = heel heat for hosses. If A-Train or Show get booed, it's X-Pac heat. If Jericho or Matt Hardy get booed, it's heel heat. Same thing, just one has a negative connotation. -

Maybe it's just me, but flirting with a poster on a message board is just......wierd. Of course you can meet people online, but it's like Tiffany Malibu was a hot chick that walked into a bar, tongues were wagging. And no one on the net seems to know how to flirt without making an ass of themselves. Male Poster: So, let's see a pic. Female Poster: Ok *Pic* Male Poster(s): Wow you're hot! *insert lame smileys* Let me put the smackdown on you! Male Poster 2: No way, she's mine! *insert lame smiley* Male Poster: Fuck off! *machine gun smiley* Me: ....... -

It's one letter off. So what. I still get that mental image. -
HHH's "Victims" Kane - Yes, at that time it would have been a nice reign. His character is DOA now. RVD - If this was 2001, yes, I would agree. Now, no way, jose. Steiner - HHH was getting face heat against the guy. He's pretty bad in the ring. Booker T. - Yes. Nash - No way.

Why is X-Pac heat so bad? The worst "Fuck You" a wrestler can get is to come out to absolute silence or be booed as a face. If you're a heel and you're getting X-Pac heat, you're doing a DAMNED good job. Nash as the 4th member of Evolution, um no. What would his reason be, "If you can't beat them, join them." Nash would basically fuck up everything Evolution stands for, or would it..... Flair - Past Nash - Past his "prime" HHH - Present Orton - Future Oh, and as an aside, everytime I hear the name Orton, I think of that damn pig from Garfield. He starred in those U.S. Acres shorts that used to come on in between Garfield cartoons. Damn I hated those. If you don't know what I mean, look at Bps's avatar. -
you just described him perfectly. I just ripped off godthedog's quote-changing gimmick, and I admit it. I apologize dearly for it, and will never do it again, especially in response to this upcoming post, because if so it will start a war of quotes and he will never give up and I will never win. it's okay. i actually realize that it's not a gimmick, just a quirk i was the first to manipulate, and that in itself is arguable as quote changing has been possible for awhile, even on the most rare of boards, the old cbs wrestleline forum in particular. It's okay godthedog, quote changing technology is a gem of a weapon and I understand your need to take credit for it's creation. We shall let this one slip under the rug. The sexism rule is stupid because so called "sexist" terms, including, but not limited to; cunt, bitch, whore, and perhaps ho, are commom words used in everyday language. Yes, bitch and whore are derogatory words used towards women, but jerk and asshole are used towards men and those are not considered sexist. The fact that a poster (although not a well liked one) was banned for calling a female gimmick poster a "cunt" shows the flaws in this rule. The racism rule is not stupid because niggER, coon, porch monkey, kike, and dirty jew are not used in everyday language. I believe cracker, and honkey should be added as well, but you could argue those are common words.

To be fair Angle didn't have any heat in the beginning of 2002. If that feud with HHH did nothing else, it helped Angle regain some of his lost heat. -
This thread went from people prasing this article to those slamming it claiming the guy must be white, to a "bragging" contest of sorts over whose less black.
-
Yes, but "I am tired of this shit" could mean he's sick of his chronic diarrhea.
-
I think the "I don't want to be black anymore" phrase was hyperbole (I believe that is the word) to express embarassment at the constant whining, bitching, and media whoring many of the black race are guilty of. But what do I know? My opinion doesn't matter. Let me go on back in and clean "Massa's" house like a good Uncle Tom should.
-
But Marney, their (and mine I suppose) ancestors were enslaved over 400 years ago! Kiss our feet and give us a free ride whenever we need damnit! I guess I'll just keep to myself that little fact that Africans were the ones making the slave trade possable by selling off their own people to "TEH EVIL WHITE CRACKA MAN~!"
-
A black guy opposes the usual, "Give me everything I want now becuase my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandaddies baby cousin's mom's sister's husband was enslaved over 400 years ago!" viewpoint held by so many "angry black males" with a well written and intelligent article and the black (I assume) posters respond with cursing and anger and thinking the guy is white. I suppose who didn't use enough ebonics to convince you he is a brother. Maybe I should join this guy in line for turning in my Black Club Card. On a side note, I thought for a moment that Marney was black.

Cherry Blossom Viscount replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
You can't blame Orton at all. It's not like he marched in after his foot healed and said, "Hey Vince, I'm the son of Bob Orton Jr., and my granddaddy is the original Bob Orton. I look good and am a 3rd generation wrestler. Put me in the top heel group, have the top heel and his manger put me over, have me duel with Mick Foley in a battle of words, and let me go over two legends in the next six months or I walk damnit!" Vince decided this on his own. And at least in his own round-about way, HHH is TRYING to put someone over. I doubt Orton is going to say, this; Orton - Trips, Vince, hey, thanks for thinking about me, but I'm going to go ahead and let you trade me to Smackdown for Benoit so those smarks on the net can cream their pants as he runs over HBK and Foley instead of me. Also, since I'm a heel and not on the level of Benoit, I'll just go on and take a job jobbing on Velocity so I can pay my dues. HHH - ...-uh Vince - Randy, YOU'RE FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRED! Flair - Whooooooo! -
Actually, Brock's only been around a year.

I remember when people her were "marks" for the dreaded Batista. I remember when they felt he should have had Brock's push. I remember when pairing him with Reverend D'Von was holding him back. Smarks can be fickle can't they? I remember when Orton had the shoulder injury, and RNN was the big thing. In your typical RAW thread.... "RNN!" "OMG! It's RNN!" "LOL!" "RNN!" "Orton~!" "RNN~! *marks out*" "I bet HHH interrupts this." "Yeah because HHH can't let ANYONE get over on HIS show. Orton is young, good on the mic, and not too bad of a wrestler, just a little green. He could get over easy, and that's why HHH is going to HHHold him down." Remember those guys? That was only a few months ago. Now you're wishing injury on the guy? A career ending one at that. What if I wished RVD busted his head open on a table? Or Booker hurt his groin? Or Benoit broke his neck? I'd be a pretty bad guy.
