Leena, I'm beginning to think the mercy points Tennessee gave Cal when Cal was playing UT's third stringers in the fourth quarter have skewed people's minds as far as remembering just how very, very lopsided that game was. Blowout city. That's like saying Middle Tennessee State had a bad game against Louisville Friday Night and would beat them in a rematch. It's just not happening, delusional even.

Ainge and Co. score 51 against a team only giving up six points a game AT their place. Boy what I wouldn't give to be able to get a redo of that fourth quarter against Florida with the ten point lead WITH Arian Foster to toat the rock. We wouldn't be 5-1, i'll tell you that.

I don't believe it. I don't feel bad about UT's loss at all. Unlike last year, there isn't a sense of "they were the better team but blew it". They tried their hardest, no truly major mistakes were made(unless you count the roughing the passer on the int return for the TD that was called back, which really wasn't his fault), and I actually feel they played to their level. I am dissappointed that they blew a double digit lead in the second half and got NOTHING going on the ground(which was mostly due to their starting RB being a member of UT's long injured list). Maybe it'll hit me tomorrow, but at least I'm not acting like Dama about the loss.

USC/Neb and OU/Oregon are so far from being the game of the day its ridiculous. Gameday should be at one of the SEC games but the new policy apparently states that it can't be held at a game broadcast by another network than "ESPN on ABC"

Says a LOT about this rivalry. -Credit UTsports.com Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer had a pretty good afternoon Wednesday at Haslam Field. The Vols coach was greeted on the practice grounds by both players -- Inquoris Johnson and Justin Harrell -- injured in last weekend's win over Air Force. And as uplifting as it was to see Johnson released from the hospital, even more amazing was the picture of Harrell in full practice uniform. Preparing for Saturday's visit from Florida. "We had one of the most unique things happen Tuesday in that Justin Harrell came to us and said, `Coach, I feel like I can play,'" Fulmer said of his senior defensive tackle. "We conferred with the doctors and there is no chance for further injury to his arm if he's padded up well. He practiced today and did just about everything there was to do. "I don't know whether he'll get five snaps or 50 snaps, but he's going to be able to play in this football game. And this is a one-game deal. He has to have the surgery because if it goes longer than a couple of weeks, the muscle starts to atrophy," or shrivel and shrink from disuse. Head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh said late Wednesday that Harrell, who ruptured his biceps tendon in the third quarter against Air Force, is scheduled for surgery early next week. McVeigh also reported that Johnson was released from UT Medical Center on Wednesday and is doing well. The junior defensive back sustained a severe injury to his right upper extremity in Saturday's game. Johnson underwent surgery to repair blood vessels and McVeigh said the UT Sports Medicine Staff continues to monitor his progress. "Inky came out to practice and that was a very emotional moment for all of us," Fulmer said. "He got them excited about the game. His spirits are really good. I told him we were all praying for him and he said, `Coach, I'm blessed.' He just had a lot of energy about himself. "He's tired, he's been through a lot, but he's got a tremendous attitude. He's a tremendous young man. Whatever he does in life, he will be very successful." And Fulmer said he's never seen anything in his coaching career like Harrell's return to practice. "What a great statement to want to be out there with his teammates," Fulmer said. "The love and passion he has for his team is just unbelievable." Add an early-practice appearance from the Pride of the Southland Marching Band -- a little extra hoopla surrounding this weekend's SEC opener -- and Tennessee's head coach had a pretty good afternoon.

This is the NFL Preseason Thread

I'm going to Titans/Falcons tomorrow night.
  13. ^Agree. The Foley/Flair feud is one of its own that deserves a blowoff and THIS should be used for another guy. Don't get me wrong, though. This is a VERY intriguing Angle to me as its fairly well known that Melina and Foley have had a personal relationship for the better part of a year now, and the public has been exposed to it through his blog. Remember when pictures of Melina started appearing on Foley's columns arbitrarily and he strung out a big column that he wrote about their first meeting each other and subsequent friendship. I do, and I don't make it a habit to visit WWE.com but I did happen to have read most of Foley's columns. Call me gullible, but I didn't see the spoiler from earlier in the thread and I didn't see the turn coming, and I, having knowledge of the Foley/Melina factor dating back far longer than most casual fans, was shocked when it happened and I think it worked, at least with me. I DO however think that it should have had no part of the Flair feud and the Foley "soft side" storyline should have been separate. The KMA thing could have just taken the place of the Summerslam ending as a means of establishing Foley caring about Melina and just ended the Summerslam match with a proper blowoff to that. Oh well, bottom line, I liked it. Mostly because the Melina thing wasn't as out of left field to me.
  14. I just read on LOP that Angle is expected to be added to the ECW title match as a triple threat. Too lazy to exactly copy@paste but it was there. I believe PWInsider reported it originally.

This is the NFL Preseason Thread

Young did fine, he had a couple of good passes dropped including a great pass that was a surefire TD that had no business being dropped by a rookie wideout. He also had a nice looking, long scramble and subsequent pass completion in the second half that is sure to be on highlight films. When Brandon Jones, Bo Scaife and Erron Kinney get healthy and Young gets some time on the actual 1st team O, he'll be fine. Not to mention he's only reportedly learned about 50% of the offense. I might have to change my sig though, the NFL's best rookie backfield might be Reggie Bush all by himself. I NEVER thought he could look every bit as fast in the big league as he did in college. Bush still looked like he was in a different gear out there than everyone else. Then again, it was the Titans D. Our running game and special teams both looked damn good while our defense and passing game could be better. You can never really come to any conclusions in a preseason game though.

we're jus a handful of hours from Saints/Titans Saturday Night at LP Field at the Coliseum formerly known as Adelphia. Young will reportedly play the 2nd and 3rd quarters while Brown, Henry, and LenDale White will play the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters in that order. Bush versus Young: Round II. Good God I know its preseason but I'm starving for some football.

Spring college football practices are starting...

I'm tickled to death that somebody thinks Tennessee is the tenth best team in the nation. Talent-wise, maybe but this is practically the same team as last year that started #3 and went 5-6.

    OAO Raw - 7/17

Cena's heat is actually the furthest thing from "X-Pac" heat a performer could possibly have in this business.

    OAO Raw - 7/17

They'll do the exact same thing with Umaga as Hassan. Umaga hasn't done anything on Raw, so they'll job him clean to Cena in 5 minutes, Umaga will answer Batista's open challenge at the Bash and move to Smackdown with his foreign manager to feud with Khali and Davari or something.

After reading this thread, I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but exactly how important is it to watch the first one before seeing this?? I knew this was a popular franchise, but I was honestly never planning on seeing this till I saw what its making and I don't feel like being left out. Jesus Christ!

    The OAO 7/7 Smackdown! Thread

I think big scale stable wars like that would be the PERFECT thing to distract people from SD's lack of star power. I love it.
  25. Didn't see these reported in another thread or this one, so here goes: MORE SNME MATCHES Several new matches have been added to the 7/15 Saturday Night's Main Event show. Edge will defend his gold against John Cena. Batista will team up with Rey Mysterio and Bobby Lashley to take on King Booker, Mark Henry and Finlay. Also, there will be a "Bikini Bull Riding Contest" in which divas from all three brands will be competing in. Torrie Wilson, Maria, Mickie James, Candice, Victoria, Kristal, Ashley, Jillian, Michelle McCool and Kelly Kelly will be participating in this contest. Credit: LOP via WWE.com
