I love the more recent ROH stuff. Thanks a lot guys.

Booker has won 3 matches as champ, looking good in none of them. Twice he needed interference (vs. Rey and vs. Batista on SD), and at No Mercy he got the cheap pin after Finlay was taken out by Batista. Oh, I guess he also needed Sharmell to help him beat RVD on Raw Homecoming. Beyond that, he's been DQ'ed in every defense when it's clear his opponent is about to beat him (vs. Batista at Summer Slam and SD this week, vs. UT twice on SD). Rey jobbed a lot, but he did get a clean win for the title with a finisher and two clean defenses, one of which was on a ppv. He also lost the title in a shady manner.

That was really a one match show. The I Quit was actually very good, as they focused on brutality over the goofy Eddie storyline. Great ending too. Quite possibly the only redeeming quality of this feud. The rest of the show was really blah. I marked for Squire Dave's return, though. Too bad the crowd didn't care one bit about the match, not that I expected much differently. Hopefully they warm up to this team like they did with Finlay. The rest of the show was a bunch of squashy kind of stuff, up to the ME. That was alright, but a predictable and lame finish killed it. The comedy overshadows the fact that Booker's title reign has been worse than Rey's.

I'm looking forward to the show. My only hope is that Dominick isn't involved in the I Quit finish.

I think #4 has the best front, but in typical WWE fashion, they ruin it with a stupid back.

This isn't an issue of an 83 win team beating a 97 win team, because that 97 win team looked much different in the regular season. Ask yourself how many games this NLCS Mets team would've won in the regular season. My guess is low 80's. If the Cardinals could be anywhere near as consistent as they've been in the post season, I'd say they're a low-mid 90's winner. Both teams are in completely different places right now.

Please post more. The 1004 holds bit is great, though it cut off before Juvi (I think) came to chase Jericho out of the ring and the ref was left holding the list. Jericho then reached back into grab the list yelling "Give me back my holds!"

They don't wanna go head to head with the World Series, I imagine. Since I'm here, I'll toss out some picks: Jets 31, Lions 24: The Jets aren't that good, but the Lions find a way to lose. Dolphins 17, Packers 13: Ugly game here. Neither team is any good, so I'll take Miami at home. Chiefs 27, Chargers 24: I like KC to rebound and win at home. They're better than 2-3. Steelers: 20, Falcons 16: The Steelers are getting back in form, ATL is overrated. Patriots 24, Bills 14: Typical unimpressive Pats win. Jaguars 23, Texans 7: Coming off the bye against a weak D... Yeah I'll take the Jags. Panthers 34, Bengals 17: The Panthers are good, Cincy is very overrated. No D kills them again. Eagles 17, Bucs 3: Tampa still isn't going anywhere. Eagles get back on track with an ugly win. Broncos 16, Browns 7: *Yawn* Cardinals 38, Raiders 21: Try as they might, no way Zona can lose to the worst NFL team in years. Colts 31, Redskins 28: Washington continues to expose Indy's D, but Peyton leads his team to a late win. Seahawks 20, Vikings 10: Pretty standard game. Cowboys 24, Giants 21: The good Dallas team shows up on Monday night.

I know it was pointed out in the Week 6 NFL thread, but it bears repeating. "Hollywood" Matt Leinart. You can't help but cheer for him. In general, the MNF announce crew is terrible. Makes me want the SNF guys back. They may have been shitty and verbally blown too many players, but at least they had chemistry. This current team reminds me of the Raw Styles/Lawler/Coach team. Kornheiser and Theismann banter about nothing and are generally annoying, and Tirico just jumps in with play call during the rare moments both of them shut up.

To be fair, it did look pretty bad for WWE when some guy in worse shape than Spike Dudley no-sold Jamal's death offense. I can see why he was stiffing him, though the part at the end where he tried to drop him on his head was excessive. All of it was funny, however.

What did I miss with Dennis Green?

Oh, and next week: Arizona vs. Oakland Can the Raiders even beat a team that tries to lose every week?
-
Arizona needs an O-line more than any non-Houston team in the NFL. It's pathetic they can't do anything with a back like Edge. Anyway, looks like another year of high hopes and big letdowns in Arizona. Oh, and ESPN's MNF announce team is even worse than the SNF crew. I can't stand Kornheiser and Theismann are just painful to the ears.

Pretty good overall show. The Edge/Orton segment was great until DX came out. I loved how they accused Orton of being gay, yet the focus of their promo were Orton's suggestive pictures and Edge's semi-erect penis. Cryme Tyme was good in the debut. Pretty average wrestlers with a good finisher. Their backstage segment with Booker was great. They definitely need to do more "King" Booker T with his character where he splits time between the over-the-top English accent and ebonics. The IC 4-way was a fun little spot exchange. At least there's a division now. Cena/KFed segment was ok, but went on way too long. Women's match made no sense. Maria wins, why? Candice may very well be the most improved wrestler in WWE this year. ME stunk pretty bad, but I wasn't expecting much.

He was one of my favorite WCW SN jobbers. I think my favorite match was when he teamed up with Scott D'amore and Lenny Lane to take on The Giant in a handicap match on Nitro.

I thought the part about the See No Evil hype packages was funny.

Tonight's SD episode inspired me to inquire about this. What are some examples of announcers shamelessly protecting kayfabe? Besides Jimmy Yang never having a match on SD...

If SD winds up getting Kane for Kennedy, that's a joke. Very good show this week. Seemed like everything had a purpose and flowed smoothly. Benoit with any title is good, and I loved it when he no-sold UT's presence. Nice little match he had with Kennedy too. Regal used the half-nelson suplex. That's all that mattered with his match. Can't complain about getting Rey vs. Noble. Rey/Chavo I Quit match sounds interesting. Do they re-hash the Summer Slam match ending with Dominick in place of Melina? Or do they do the Eddie finish where Rey wins, but gets beat up afterwards? 6-man was perfectly acceptable midcard stuff. ME was pretty good, though I'd much rather have seen one of the other two win. It'll be interesting with what they do next week with the title match. My gut says another screwy finish since Booker, Show, and Cena already starting feuding with each other, so throwing Batista in would seem forced. I'd suggest Finlay would help Booker win in a swerve, but SD has been too well-booked lately for something stupid like that. Maybe Cena and/or Show cost Batista the match? Booker's commentary was great as usual. Cole really sounds like an idiot when he's out there with him and JBL.

1) vs. Austin (Summer Slam 2001) 2) vs. Taker (No Way Out 2006) 3) vs. Benoit (Royal Rumble 2003) 4) w/Benoit vs. Rey and Edge (No Mercy 2002) 5) vs. Lesnar (Wrestlemania 19)

I'm trying to decide if Angle sounded drunk or mentally retarded during his promo. Surprised they did Joe/Christian on free tv.

If you could only watch one wrestler

Benoit or Kobashi. -
On the subject of heel Rocky... (Backlash 2003) "I could wipe a cockatoo's ass with what you think!" *looks off camera* "Shut up, it's the only animal The Rock could think of!"

"He's got a large collection of hubcaps. If you need one, he'll procure one for you after the show!"

Wasn't there a youtube vid of that Jericho bit around at one point? That segment was great, arguably the high point of Jericho's CW title run. That's really saying something with other great bits like the 1004 holds, "I killed Juvi," Bore-us Malenko, etc.

I'd like to hold some sense of hope that this would send a message to WWE, but it's Vince... So, probably not.
