I put him in my sig. His part in that skit was just as well-done as Trish or Mickie. Of course there's the crazy bitches line, but then after that he yelled out "Somebody help me!" (which was just funny) before Trish put the tape back over his mouth. And the WTF look on his face when Mickie started to help him was good too.

Which skipper gets the boot first? '06 Edition
Just John replied to The Czech Republic's topic in Sports
Firing the Royals Manager won't solve anything. They need to get rid of the owner who doesn't give a shit about the team or its (few) fans and pockets the revenue sharing money that's supposed to go to acquiring better players. I'd say Charlie Manuel is in the hot seat right now. -
I myself am a hardcore Astros fan, but I don't give a damn about the bandwagoners. Every team in every sport is the exact same way. Less people watch when a team sucks, more people watch when the team's good. It's part of sports. And I like Minute Maid Park too. Just seemed like all the Astro-haters in the world came out of the woodwork during the playoffs last year. I mean, I live in a place where everyone loves the Cardinals, so I'm used to it, but I never understood why anyone else would hate them.
-
I don't understand why people hate the Astros now. I mean, they're a historically mediocre franchise that's just become good in the last couple years. Clemens doesn't play for them anymore either. What is it people hate about this team?

I wanna know since when is Lamar Odom on the same level as Shawn Marion? Back when Marion was getting a little MVP talk, the Lakers were going 0-whatever when Odom took more than 13 shots. That's a bad matchup for the Lakers, offensively and defensively since the Marion is the only Sun who plays D. Nash vs. Parker is horrible mismatch on the offensive end too.

What DVDs would you like to see the WWE release?
Just John replied to iggymcfly's topic in The WWE Folder
I actually thought about this a few days ago. I'd camp out at Best Buy to make sure I got a copy of this one. -
Might as well throw out my predictions... East: Detroit d. Chicago (4): I know Detroit never sweeps anyone, but seriously. What a fucking mismatch. Chicago has 0 in 10 chance, no chance. Cleveland d. Washington (7): Two pretty evenly matched teams with one dominant star on each side. I think home court plays a big factor as the Cavs move on to Who Jobs to the Pistons Part 2. New Jersey d. Indiana (6): Indy is one of those teams that always sticks around and you never notice. They'll make some noise in this series, but I like the three-headed monster in Jersey to lead them to the next round. Miami d. Milwaukee (5): Unlike Chicago, the Bucks have enough to steal a game from the Heat. Good luck getting any more than that, though. West San Antonio d. Sacramento (6): Kings give a little scare, but I like the experience and determination of the Spurs to lead them through the first round. How long until the harsh reality of injuries set in, though? Dallas d. Memphis (5): Memphis gets over the hump and gets a win, but the Mavs are too complete a team to roll over and die this early. You know they'll be licking their chops if Sacto gives San Antonio any kind of fight, with how banged up the Spurs are and all. LA Clippers d. Denver (6): Denver's too inconsistant. The Clips are still a fine team without Maggette. Fine enough to get rid of the Nuggets at least. The veteran leadership of Cassell is a big factor here. Phoenix d. LA Lakers (5): Phoenix will run and score. Kobe will do his damndest to drag this worthless excuse of an NBA team with him, but one man can only do so much. One game for Kobe to be a hero, four more for the Suns to out-hustle, out-shoot, and out-play an inferior team.
-
Yeah, I really fail to see how the Lakers will keep up with the Suns. Phoenix has lots of guys that can shoot really well. LA has one guy that can shoot really well. No way the Lakers keep up in a run-and-gun type game.
-
I'm calling it: The Clippers make it to the WCF.

It wouldn't have been so bad with a real blowoff. Instead 3 of the 4 ppv matches between the two ended in no contests. And the only thing anyone remembers about the one match they finished was the ridiculously out-of-shape Giant doing a missile dropkick.
-
All I remember from KOTR was that god-awful HHH/UT main event. And I thought Mania 18 was boring throughout.
-
I remember Vengeance 02 was a surprisingly good show. Other than that, though, there isn't much to write home about until the end of the year. The SD side really heated up with the "SD 6" and Survivior Series was a great show, but I don't remember much else of note. I know the Rumble, Mania, Judgment Day, and KOTR were not good at all. Another thing I remember was the weeks and weeks worth of boring Austin vs. NWO storylines with Bradshaw thrown in there. Ric Flair: Tonight, in the main event, it will be the NWO vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin... *Crowd pops* Ric Flair: ... And Bradshaw! *Silence*

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

Well, the DDP chants might be because his opponent was DDP. Not to mention Page was at least a tweener after turning down the NWO and would become a full fledged face after the match. -
Nastiest head drops in wrestling history.
Just John replied to The Mandarin's topic in General Wrestling
Sloppiness all has to do with intent. If the planned spot is a head drop (as it often is in Japan) it's not sloppy. If the planned spot is back bump, then dropping someone on their head is sloppy. -

Someone else should take over doing this thing. I enjoyed it greatly. -

I'd say 1996 is the way to go. If you already own BATB from that year, you have a very historic year of wrestling in your hands. Personally, though, I'd love to get the 2000 season set for the unintentional comedy. -
I'm pretty sure Nash will get the MVP, and he deserves it. ROTY will be Chris Paul. Most Improved... I'm banking on Boris Diaw for that one. Coach seems like a tough one. They might go with Dunleavy just to give the Clippers something.

First thing I thought of was Test/Steiner from 03. Didn't Stacy Kiebler change hands 3 different times in this feud? Totally agree with HHH/Batista as well. What was HHH's reasoning to get 2 rematches after losing clean? You fear the pedigree, and you haven't beaten me in HIAC? Angle/Cena from last year went on way longer than it needed to as well.
-
I'm not feeling the Foley/Edge love so much, and I'm a big Edge fan. It seemed like this match (and feud) was just a carbon copy of Foley/Orton in 2004. I'll give 'em props for a really cool finish, but other than that there's not too much we haven't seen before. Stiff metal object shots, barbed wire, tacks, the usual. Thing is, minus the finish, everything about the Foley/Orton match was way better. Plus the match was really short. Definitely too short to warrant a flaming table bump, but since that's a WM moment forever now, I'll give them a little slack.

The Spirit Squad has grown on me quite a bit. Kenny stands out the most, but Johnny's not too bad either. I'm not feeling the Cuban Kamala at all. Umaga does nothing for me. Any time one of your signature moves involves your ass, it's hard for me to take you seriously. Plus, how does he go from using the Hercules Cutter in his debut to using the freaking Asiatic Spike the next week? However, AAE is awesome. He needs to cross paths with Daivari at some point. The Great Khali sucks. Big retarded guy with lame offense. Just what we need.
-
The same applies to Angle/UT at NWO, but on a much higher level.
-
Taker vs. Angle from NWO rather easily. That one will probably survive til the end of the year and beyond. It was the best match since Eddie/Lesnar two years prior. The crisp, errorless wrestling combined with a great competitive story and some amazing counters by Angle really make this match special. **** 1/2 from me. Rey vs. Finlay is the TV MOTY so far in my opinion. It might hold up through the year, but there's a very good chance SD could put out something better. Still, this match had some stiff, hard-hitting action with a cool run-in finish (don't say that very often) that made for some good viewing. *** 1/4. Mickie vs. Trish deserves some kind of recognition too. Calling it the "best women's match" of the year doesn't do it justice since no WWE women's match in history has even come close to touching it. Great storytelling, perfect character work, and pretty solid wrestling as well. The lone downfall of the match is the lame announcing. My biggest complaint is not attributing the "botched stratusfaction" to Trish's leg being worked over the whole match. Anyway, I'll give it the token "Best WWE Women's Match Ever" award, but I'll also tack on the "WM 22 MOTN" award, which is probably more meaningful. *** 1/2.

HHH/Austin 3 stages of hell was in 01.

I agree with not giving guys proper pushes. They really missed the boat with Jericho who was super over at the time. I mean, Rocky didn't need the title during the summer (it actually got in the way more than anything), and it really could've moved Jericho to the next level. Angle's title run was botched horribly, as I don't think he had more than 3 clean wins during his run. When exactly did Steph get the book? I'm guessing September or so, because that's when the company went into a lull until the 01 Rumble. The last 3.5 months were marked by the non-finish to the Kurt/HHH feud, the aforementiond poor Angle title reign, Rikishi as the driver, HHH no-selling death, and the 4 very lackluster ppv's. Doesn't change the fact that January-May was awesome, and June-August was well above average overall.
