You can't hold a good drafter down

Cool, with school winding down, I'll get the rock band draft up and running some time in the very near future.

    NFL Week 15

    1. Rookies are easy. Ryan and Mayo, no questions. For coach, I'm inclined to say Jeff Fisher who's got a young team with no good WRs and a QB who most thoght has been washed up for 6 or 7 years and has them with the best record in the league. MVP is a little harder. Kurt Warner seems like the safe choice there with the Cards finally turning things around. James Harrison should win DPOTY. 2. The Chargers have been really disappointing this year. LT has been way down, the defense has been awful, and they're on life support in the worst division in football, despite being in the AFC title game last year. 3. The Chiefs need help at WR and O-line, as well as a pass rusher. Take Crabtree or Maclin with the first pick, then see if you can't find a some vets to help this young team in free agency They do have some pieces in place to turn things around, and are a lot closer to doing so than most of the other teams listed. 4. The real problem is all the stupid fines coming down from the commissioner. Outside of the SD/DEN game (which is like a 1 in 5 year debacle on par with the infamous PIT/DET Thanksgiving coin toss or Vinny Testaverde's phantom TD), the officiating has been par for the course. Goodell's the real problem. 5. Plaxico Burress. I'm sick of hearing about that guy.

I know there was a CD desert island draft in the music folder, but seeing the rapper draft made me wonder... Would anyone be up for a rock band draft at some point?

That strikes me as an ok deal for Charlotte. They'll definitely miss J-Rich's scoring, but Diaw and Bell are quality players. Bell seems like a guy Larry Brown would like. As for Phoenix, who knows what's going on out there these days? I'd say this trade was ok if they hadn't done Marion for Shaq last year. J-Rich was awesome in the run-and-gun offense at Golden State, so I imagine he would've been better with Nash creating opportunites. But that's not the way it is. Does Phoenix have anyone that can be considered an above-average defender now?

    Deities Draft

Ok, just checking since it's the same thing as Yahweh/God/Allah (one deity renamed in a different language).

    NFL Week 15

Oddly, though, 4 of the Jets' 5 losses came from AFC/NFC West opponents.

    Deities Draft

So then, could one pick Zeus and Jupiter separately?

    Deities Draft

I might have to brush up on some of the lesser deities in various mythologies, but I'll play. And I don't think you can separate Yahweh, God, and Allah. All those Judeo-Christian religions just build off history. The one constant is that it's always the same god. Now, will prophets/human religious figures be allowed (i.e. Jesus, Muhammed, The Buddha)?

I like the country draft idea.

What was the best team ever?

I think the 07 Pats would win that in a walk, but some of the other candidates would be worth debating. A lot of people will point to the 98 Vikings, but I think 98 Falcons don't get enough credit. They went 14-2 and were solid on both sides of the ball. Chris Chandler and Jamal Anderson had career years on offense, while the defense featured the likes of Jesse Tuggle, Eugene Robinson, and Cornelius Bennett. I've never been convinced the Falcons beating the Vikes that year was a fluke. The 99 Jags were pretty good too. If only they could've found a way to beat the Titans...

    The College Football Thread 12/3 - 12/6

Can it actually be considered running up the score if you need those points to advance to a championship? Sounds like a case of "Don't hate the player, hate the game."

I never mentioned defense. I said he overplays his starters.

    This week in the NBA

LeBron/Bosh would be a nice tandem, but they'd still need a different coach to win a title. Well, D'Antoni could also realize his 7-man rotation thing over the course of a season doesn't cut it, but if he didn't figure it out when he couldn't get to the Finals with Nash, Amare, and Marion, I don't see why he ever would. Although, I bet the regular season stats on LeBron would be unreal with D'Antoni's stystem. If there was ever a shot for someone to average a triple double again...

What was the best team ever?

The 84 team did have a better record, more points scored, fewer points allowed, and a better turnover differential, so there is a lot to argue. The only thing they did significantly better in 89 was beat up playoff opponents, although the 84 team was no slouch in that area (winning by double digits every game).

What was the best team ever?

It's amazing that arguably the best Niners SB team (84) didn't even have Jerry Rice.

But New York will give him more money to not win a title. If he wanted to win a title, he'd try to play with Yao or Dwight Howard.

    Hence the IF.

    This week in the NBA

I guess he's honest at least. And if he just wants money and doesn't care about championships, New York will be a great fit in 2010.

What was the best team ever?

If David Tyree doesn't make a miracle catch off his helmet, the 07 Pats would be the consensus NFL pick for sure.

NFL Preliminary Hall of Fame 09 List

Instead of debating college lit class terminology, I'm curious who you think is in the HOF that isn't worthy and/or actively discredits it.

    NFL Week 13

Yeah, I could totally see Arizona knocking off the inexperienced Falcons or the choke-artist Cowboys at home. They've been a solid team, but for whatever reason, the east coast is their kryptonite. Doesn't bode well for them long-term with NY, Carolina, and Tampa probably making the playoffs, but they'll be facing a WC team at home in the first round, so they can probably handle that.

Maybe it shouldn't have taken as long as it did to get Monk in, but Carter's better than him in just about every area, including nearly doubling him in career TDs.
