As much as I love Futurama, I'm unsure about this. I thought they wrapped the series up on a good note with Fry and Leela finally hooking up. That would be somewhat of a problem for new episodes since that was a huge part of Fry's character. The other minor characters resolved a lot of their angles too like Amy and Kiff getting together as well as Leela finally meeting her parents. It seems like it would be difficult to come up with new stuff, but who knows?

That was a damn fine Velocity. Kazarian/Nunzio was pretty nice. Loved the opening sequence and Kazarian using the moss-covered-three-handled-family-credunza as a finisher. Simon was quite impressive in his squash. The curb stomp should be his finisher, but the simonizer wasn't too bad. Regal/Benoit was a solid *** 1/2. I marked for the dragon suplex, the double underhook sequence, and Regal busting out the Eddie Guerrero Fall Brawl 97 surfboard/dragon sleeper combo. The hardway blood was a nice touch. The finish was out of nowhere, but I guess Benoit was working the arm, so it's ok. Give these guys a real feud now.

Ha, I'm so doing that next time I go to a televised event. Other good signs: X-pac 3:16 says "I'm Boring" Raw Spoiler: HHH wins

(During the Booker/Edge match at WM 18): They're fighting over shampoo! Syxx lyxx dyxx And for signs that are so bad/markish you can't help but laugh... (On last week's SD): Eddie, stop blackmailing Rey.

11 p.m. EST, I believe.

Depends if Batista needs a filler feud. I like Booker, and followed most of his career. I'd say he's average in the singles matches, but he excels in tag team wrestling. I think the fact that he made a team with Stevie Ray one of the best in the 90's is a testament to that. Mainly for me, though, Booker's just one of those feel-good stories, as he's one of the few to get out of tag team hell, then work his way up the singles ladder. Especially impressive in late-90's WCW. So while Booker isn't impressive in the ring now, I still like him in a markish sort of way.

T-shirt, denim shorts. Occasionally, I'll mix in one of my many jerseys, but those are mostly for collection. When it get's cold, fairly heavy long sleeve shirts (not sweatshirts, though) and jeans.

Thanks. And I agree, this is the first time the SD tag titles have meant something since TWGTT and Los Guerreros were fighting over them. I can't even remember the last time I cared about the Raw belts. Let's hope the writers keep up their good booking of MNM.
-
I doubt Animal will be doing much squashing. There's no way MNM should do anything but win clean. If the titles go to Animal and Heidenreich, the credibility of those belts is back to zero.

How about Cena's over and is likely to stay over and can consistently wrestle a full schedule? 1. Matt wouldn't get the same pops if he came in and started attacking Kurt Angle or HHH. As much as the 'net hates him, Edge is just as responsible for getting this feud as over as it is (though maybe not in a good way). 2. Hogan will always be over, but there's no way he can wrestle enough to keep the title, nor would he help build for the future, what with being 52 and all. Remember Hogan's last title reign?
-
Yeah, I can see how it would offend people, but Nitro's delivery was hilarious.
-
Hopefully Animal puts on a better showing than he did the last time he was on WWE television. At least MNM's titles are safe for a couple months.

This would be a spin-off of the thread discussing the biggest surprises in wrestling. What events were supposed to be shocking, but no one was surprised one bit by them? Tazz debuting at the Royal Rumble 2000 Any of Ric Flair's fake face turns before he joins back up with HHH

I don't think Cena can turn heel now. He'll probably just have to keep doing the same thing until the crowd gets tired of him. But right now, he's just too hot.

I disagree, but I think our points are interrelated. (A) First, I don't think titles should be used to make someone a main eventer. At least not the main titles. I think a person needs to have a feud that gets them over to the point where the fans want to see them win the tile, or for heels, makes it believeable that they could be a threat. (B) The thing is, to get someone over, the title has to be on someone who is over. The feud is what gets people over, not the belt. If you feud with someone who's over, your crowd reaction is greater, fans pay attention to you, and you get more over. So as long as Cena jobs to someone other than HHH, there will probably be more interest in the new champ.

^Not Cena's fault. Man, I forgot how much the 'net hated Cena. I personally am not offended by him. Sure, his in-ring work is bland, but he's carryable and the crowds are always into his matches. I have a feeling he's capable of more than he shows; It's sort of like "The Rock effect" where he gets complacent and just does whatever pops the crowd. As far as mic skills go, he's pretty hit-and-miss. His first promo with Christian on Raw was good, but then he went to the Hassan promo where he accused Hassan of being tied up while Daivari gives him spankings (Oh, glorious spankings!). Then he cuts a decent one against Jericho two weeks ago, but this week's was pretty bad. But if I'm gonna rip his bad promos, I'll give him credit when he gets one right. To say he has bad mic skills in general is pretty ridiculous, though. The other plus he brings is his charisma. Whether you like him or not, he's easily the most over guy on the roster, so that helps all of his matches and feuds. It's not a bad business move to have the title on your most over guy.

You know a few Ass Cream comments would be the perfect follow up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think we have a rough outline for Cena's promo for next week. All he needs is this: On the titan tron and Jericho to respond with some goofy facial expressions.

Direction for Hassan's Character on SmackDown
Just John replied to The Mandarin's topic in The WWE Folder
The clip of that promo is on wwe.com. Hassan pretty much pointed out everything we thought he would. The best part is two kids holding a "Get the HELL out of America Hassan" sign, which pretty much backs up everything he says. It fits his character quite well. -
While it's not saying much, Cena could've done worse. At least he hasn't called Jericho "Y-2-Gay" yet.
-
It obviously created a ton of interest in his feud. Look at the controversy it created. Whether people were interested because they liked it, or because they were offended is irrelevant, as most people on both sides seemed to want to know how the angle would be resolved. They might as well finish the angle instead of cutting it off, because the Hassan/UT match is gonna happen one way or the other.
-
That's bullshit that Hassan isn't allowed on SD this week. It completely kills the momentum for his match with UT. The card looks pretty average, but the 6-man is intriguing.

WCW's biggest problem was the fact that they never pushed anyone during the height of the NWO. In 98, that caught up to them. That said, the biggest improvement they could have made would have been to utilize their insanely talented midcard. Jericho's CW title reign that transitioned to a TV title reign was a good start, but I would've had him go after the US title instead of jobbing to Konnan. Raven and Benoit were two guys that should've been better used also. The tag titles should've gone to good teams instead of makeshift NWO teams and Rick Steiner and Judy Bagwell. Little changes and elevations in the midcard would have made a substantial difference so there wouldn't be any scrambling in 1999 when the ME went to shit.

When WCW tried to make Goldberg a heel, he would always get a face pops, and his opponent got booed. And let's not forget The Rock's taped promo getting shat on at the Raw 10th anniversary show.

I think whether you find the angle offensive or dumb is your opinion. No one should have to unite behind anything.
