    Rock Band Draft

I've gone to the net to do some reading on this issue, and most of things I've looked at classify Sly and the Family Stone as at least partially rock-based. I would say Sly Stone pushes the definition of rock to its limits, but the consensus seems to be they fall within the definition. So they stay, that's final. The style of Parliament-Funkadelic is all over the place, due to the complicated nature of the band. I don't think the collective group or "Parliament" individually are generally considered rock, but the work of "Funkadelic" is. So you can keep Funkadelic, but you don't get Parliament to go with them or you can re-pick.

The R/R HOF isn't a great barometer becuase they induct a lot of influential people who wouldn't generally be classified under rock. Aretha Franklin is in the R/R HOF, and I've never seen her work labeled as "rock." We gotta have a cutoff somewhere, otherwise this slope's gonna get slipperier and slipperier.

Sly and the Family Stone are fine. It's Parliament Funkadelic and Bob Marley that are under review (and being overturned).

    Rock Band Draft

Ok, I don't wanna be a band nazi here because ultimately, keeping these things moving is more important than arguing what qualifies and what doesn't, but we really need to stray away from picking funk bands as rock bands. I'm going to make Nighthawk re-pick. As a litmus test for the future, if Wiki doesn't have some type of rock or metal listed as one genre of music for a given band, it ain't rock in here. That should keep it fairly open, but does provide clear limits. Oh, and I pick Foreigner

I think Bob Marley might push it a little too far.

I would bet/hope that he was just trying to be funny by predicting the two worst teams in the playoffs make it to the big game.

Good choice. I was hoping I could pick them up later. Anyway, I'll head to the softer side of things... Toto

You can't hold a good drafter down

Historical figures would be fun. I'd do cities too... Hopefully it wouldn't fall apart like the country one.

Wait no, it wasn't eating your shoe. I don't know where I got that from. It was sucking your own dick and taking pictures. In this thread. Thankfully he didn't say he would post them on the internet.

I'll just take the generic version of Kahran's. It was going to be my first pick if I got it. Velociraptor

    This week in the NBA

Houston is the best of that bunch. They're starting to put it all together, and if they stay healthy, they'll hang with anyone. I'd put Denver at #2. They have been much more cohesive with Billups and Nene staying healthy helps too. They could've possibly been #1 had they kept McDyess. Utah has some serious injury problems now, but they'll rebound by playoff time I imagine. Portland's a good young team headed in the right direction, but I don't think they beat Houston, Denver, or Utah in a best of 7 this year. Dallas and Phoenix have both dropped off considerably from their glory days. I think Dallas is slightly better since they at least seem to have a consistent identity, even if the talent isn't there at every position. Phoenix just seems lost and skating by strictly on individual talent. How much longer does Steve Kerr get before he completely runs the team into the ground?

    Wild Card Weekend

I agree that the road teams all appear to have the edge on paper, but I can't see a clean sweep. The Chargers always play the Colts really tough, so that would be the best chance for a home win. Maybe the Cardinals wake up and a win a shootout with the Falcons.

10 grand for a snow angel... Isn't that the same amount amount a handful of Falcons got for their "Free Mike Vick" celebration last year?

I'm aware that Molotov's time is up, but I don't want anyone to be skipped over Christmas. No reason to penalize people who have to travel or spend time with the family. If we all still pick in order, that's cool, but no jumping until 12/26 please.

Alice Cooper was indeed a band for a few years, but most of his career he was a solo, so you'd only be getting the very early years of his work.

Why can't we say that reporter is a hack and Rod Marinelli deserves to be fired? Not like the two are mutually exclusive.
