I can't believe people are actually defending Godsmack's actions. Story of the Year's music isn't great by any means, but it definitely isn't terrible, bottom of the barrel shit. The SOTY members are great, kind guys (aside from not offering me a beer), as I was in their dressing room for close to an hour back in January when they opened for Linkin Park. And obviously no one here has seen or heard about SOTY live. There's a good reason why a little known (at the time) band with a shitty, falling apart at the seams record company (Maverick if I remember correctly) scored that opening spot. Their live show is fucking sight to behold. The bassists do all sorts of crazy fucking flips while playing the show. I'm not saying that this is a reason why YOU should like SOTY, but I'm just saying that I hardly doubt that they got the crowd going. Also keep in mind that if their story of how many guys went after them is even half true, they were still at a completly unfair advantage. I don't doubt that you'd all come on TSM whining like a pussy if two gang members pistol whipped you when you took their bus seat. Edit: And as for the Crazy Town comparison, they are nowhere near SOTY in every category. Crazy Town's albums are painful and boring to listen to, and this is coming from someone who loves nu-metal. SOTY is very listenable for those who can find enjoyment in whiny music.

Curb Your Enthusiasm frees innocent man

Wow. Nice to see this happened to a great show and not to Generic Family Sitcom #4343 -
Man, Alex Mack is getting wrecked. If I ever have to sit through another episode of My Brother and Me, I'll slit my wrists.

So what WWF and WCW PPVs weren't released to the
Placebo Effect replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in General Wrestling
Couple reasons... For one, the price of VHS tapes of wrestling product (and just about any other new, non sell-through, release) up until DVDs completly began to take over was VERY HIGH. I'm talking $50-$80 a tape, which is one of the big reasons, it seems, like WWE cut off their Coliseum Home Video deal. When you consider that for a video store to make that money back, the movie has to rent x amount of times, you can see why a video store that only saw five rentals of Spring Stampede 1999 would not be as tempted to get Fall Brawl. Also, starting in the late 90s, Blockbuster, Hollywood Entertainment, etc. took up the idea of "revenue sharing." In order for the rental stores to not pay the $50-$80, the distributors would sell them the tape for something like $8 in exchange for a share of the video stores profit, say 40%. This works out great for the video store owner, but if a distributor of high risk product did not wish to participate, it hurt their company. This may have been the case with WCW. I wish I could remember who their distributor was. -
Worldwide crowds were also subjected to four hours or so of nonstop squash matches, most of which involving wrestlers that weren't good enough to be on Saturday Night. Considering TNA will only have to tape for two hours (I assume they'll tape some Xplosion and or have dark matches), the crowd won't have time to get super burnt out. We'll see on Friday... Or Saturday, if you're an unlucky fuck like me.

Who had his move, the Tiger Driver 91, stolen by a guy who nearly crippled seventy-two wrestlers with it, KID KASH

Just stumbled upon an old Pro Wrestling Observer. July 30, 1997 - Saturday Night Taping in Gainesville, GA (2,300 sellout) Dave Taylor beat Joe Gomez Chris Jericho beat Psicosis with the Lion Tamer Alex Wright beat Chavo Guerero Jr. Harlem Heat beat High Voltage Curt Hennig beat Bobby Eaton. DDP ran out afterwards and was held back by security. Chris Benoit & Steve McMichael beat Los Villanos Dallas Page beat Vincent. Hennig then attacked him. Syxx beat Billy Kidman with a Buzzkiller. Flair then attacked him. Alex Wright beat Scotty Riggs. Konnan beat Psicosis with the Tequila Sunrise. La Parka chased Konnan away with a chair. Dean Malenko beat Lenny Lane with the Texas Cloverleaf. DARK MATCH (generator blew): Dallas Page pinned Curt Hennig with a fisherman's suplex. DARK MATCH (same): The Steiners fought The Faces of Fear to a double countout. Scheduled, but did not occur: Lenny Lane vs. Stevie Richards in a WCW Main Event taping, and Wrath & Mortis vs. Flair & Hennig. Both canceled due to the generator problems. Also, the August 4th Nitro had Prince Iaukea pin Brad Armstrong in a Dark Match.

As far as theatrical releases go, I've only sat through Passion of the Christ, Dawn of the Dead, and Mean Girls. I've got a lot of catching up to do.

Few interesting tidbits in there. Good job as always. -
Fucking assholes. The Strokes and White Stripes don't make GREAT music, but Jesus Christ it was still so much better than the Vines could ever hope to be.
-
I demand pics. I'll take a look around in the next week or two.

They actually just fed him to Abyss on Xplosion. David Young then came out and Spinebustered the shit out of him (D-Ray) after Abyss had exited.
-
I'd actually be more fond of the angle if it went this way, pending that they don't take it on 15 million illogical twists and turns.
-
I remember Randy's auctions. Thing is, Randy's outfits were fucking awesome looking. I wouldn't have minded owning one of those. But Jim Duggan's stinky underwear? No no.
-
What's funny is that back in the day, San Francisco Toy Company accidentally released a BLACK Jimmy Hart figure that was mounted on a Harlem Heat background. I actually own the damn thing somewhere.

I always wondered how the hell Mitchell, a guy who comes off as smart and succesful, could keep up that look if he was the employee of someone.

Poor, poor Shark Boy. To think D-Ray fucking 3000 is stealing his JTTS spot. This actually seems like a perfect show that will allow them to wipe the slate clean come the debut on FSN. Whatever happens in the World Title Match, a newer angle for that will begin on Friday. The Tag Title is fluff, and this should be the last week of X Cup shit. Monte/y Brown won't be running a feud with Siaki likely. Good planning on their part.

It hasn't held my interest for a LONG time. I occasionally get into indy, TNA, and WCW stuff toward the end, but my interest in that wanes quickly. I haven't watched a full Raw/Smackdown for MONTHS. I flip around to something else because even the best Raw can't captivate me.

Boston Public. I absolutely loved it. Another candidate would be Fastlane, because it was like watching a high budget, low brow, direct-to-video flick each week.

Because clips speak louder than words. When Jeff's on a sports talk show, he's going to talk about Fairplay, Uleacher (sp?), and the Tenn. Titans incident, along with bringing up how big names want to be a part of the show because it makes them seem more legit. Admittedly, the man has been very lax on playing the X guys up, but I can sort of see why. I loved the commercial. At the very least they're not packing the program full of clips of Sting like they do on Xplosion.

I loved what he said on the episode about the Bible. Something to the extent of, "If you believe in the Bible because of faith, we can't argue with you. But it's when you try to justify your belief by using facts, that's when we have to after you."

That's a lot of uplifting news as far as I'm concerned.
