Scherer Reports Turner Getting Back in
Placebo Effect replied to Michrome's topic in General Wrestling
That'd be the job for whomever Turner hires. -
If it was just the typical Raw Dark Match/Off-Air type report, I would've question this being here. However, I'd say the article actually had a few interesting points. The Shane McMahon story and the tidbits about the Fozzy concert made it worth the read.
-
Admit it. You searched Google for "erotic Nick Bockwinkel" and you found this page. Either that, or he's selling the new erotic wrestling tape, and wanted to rope in a few customers. I'm thinking number one.
-
I have an odd feeling Richards will be kept around, if only because he's an established name to keep around for Heat. And he's been consistently booked for quite a while, unlike Tommy Dreamer, who hardly ever works anymore. But then again, this is all Johnny Ace now, so shit's changing.

That part about Shane is FUCKING GOLD. And I can't even imagine Scott Keith yelling anything at a concert.

I've recieved nothing but prompt, friendly replies from everyone in TNA I've ever contacted. I've recieved several great gifts like signed AJ Styles photos, posters, t-shirts and videos as a thank you just for ordering. I've been told to send in my receipt for the first X-cup which had technical difficulties so they could send me a clean tape free of charge (other on the board have recieved their tape already). They have offered a monthly package plan which saves up to 15 dollars a month which is nice for fans who order every week anyway, and by getting on TV they're trying to give their fans more exposure for less money. As a long time fan, I've seen nothing but first class from the people that run TNA. But, but OMG...Samoa Joe is better than Jeff Jarrett!!!!!! 111111 They should give you something for being able to last through their programming. And if you honestly believe that Jeff Jarrett, who has been nothing since 1995, is better than Samoa Joe, I feel bad for you. Enjoy Jarrett vs Harris in a cage, or whatever the hell the weekly main event run in fest is for this week. What's bad is that a lot of your hate on the situation of TNA pulling the workers is that OMG TNA SUCKS, and not what TNA was doing is wrong, which it isn't. And while I enjoy ROH more than TNA, I'd honestly rather see a company like TNA succeed.
-
Colt would be a star if he changed his look and physique a tad bit. As far as ROH fucking themselves over, do you honestly TNA would want to pull the workers off the shows if ROH had handled themselves well when the incident occurred? I totally agree with Slapnuts' post, maybe just not TNA going the extra mile for the fans

Be rest assured that a) Sonny Oono likely doesn't have to work another wrestling day in his life, as I'm sure he collected big on the racial discrimination lawsuit against WCW. b) Since he was the cause of all that, no intelligent employer, especially one that has crossed the race lines more than once, would ever touch the guy. But yeah, Sonny rocked.

I hadn't heard much about the XPW in Pittsburgh show other than the good attendance. I've had a few people mention the ECW connection to me, though.

Quick preview of Rockin' Rebel interview I did
Placebo Effect replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in General Wrestling
Damn, looks awesome. While he probably mentioned it, the reason Rebel won't get fired is because, if I remember correctly, Rebel works with CZW in the capacity of securing insurance and dealing with the PA commisioners. -
Not a bad idea, however Shane Douglas is not as good of a promoter as he makes himself out to be. When ECW sold out in Pittsburgh several times, ECW rarely made a dime because Douglas spent mass loads of money in order to do the promotion

Around the time Freddy vs. Jason had trailers in the theaters, there were tons of reports by people saying that everyone chuckled, and many used that as a reason to say the movie would bomb.
-
Prince and Me looked fucking terrible. Even a young girl could see that. The trailers for What A Girl Wants (the Amanda Bynes movie with a similar plot, except with a lost father) looked much better, and had a more marketable star. 13 Going on 30 will do pretty well. It actually looks like a half interesting movie, despite the whole BIG connection, and seeming like a pedophile paradise. Mean Girls will do well. Lindsay's last movie, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, had horrible promotion. Mean Girls, however, will likely get better than normal reviews (written by Tina Fey), and has a better campaign.

Russo knew the gimmick was shit, so he had Dustin go make a speech. They were filmed, and ran, prior to Russo being brought back if I remember correctly.

As a sidenote, stop going to 411. I have to check my damn e-mail and you're clogging up the servers.
-
Hilarious.

Greg Matthews, according to some, just recently left CZW. He's had a fucked up back for a little while, but was still going strong and developing quite nicely.

Do any of you want to pitch in for the webcast...
Placebo Effect replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm contemplating it Downhome. Accept Paypal? -
Umm... No. Unless he was released in March (the month WWE bought the company), there's no way that's true. Jindrak worked one of the very last Thunders if I remember correctly, and that was at the end of February.

I'm still confused by what some of the shit Piper and Bischoff came up with during Piper's initial return. - Piper locking himself up in Alcatraz to train. - Piper wanting teammates to face the nWo, bringing out a bunch of random jobbers and beating them up, then if I remember correctly, someone like John Tenta comes out. This entire thing was forgotten by the PPV/next Nitro, whichever came first.
-
When the nWo first came around, I loved the product. Watching it today devalues it so much because back then, the things WCW were doing were so foreign to us. A heel hogan, the cool bad guys, backstage attacks, etc. Plus, the cruiserweights held things up on the workrate end. Other than that, I absolutely loved WCW from the New Blood angle until their demise. Most of the angles just clicked with me, and for whatever reason, I was digging guys like Mark Madden being on commentary, excluding his lame ass catchphrases.

Some TNA News From The 4 /17 Powell Report
Placebo Effect replied to BoboBrazil's topic in TNA Wrestling
So there will be the TNA PPV, a FSN show, and XPlosion? This fucking company really needs to sit down and figure their shit out, because it'll blow up in their faces if they don't. Even if the show is only one hour, how are you going to substantiate people buying the PPV weekly with the FSN broadcast? You can't have anything major happen on the show because it devalues the PPV, and at the same time, you can't have it become XPlosion #2 after all the time and money spent to get themselves a TV deal. I'd say the only good thing that can come out of this is if TNA is hoping for great ratings (for FSN, a la, above a .3). As a result of the good ratings, TNA may be able to convince them that a 2 hour show (on FSN) would work out for both parties, which would leading to TNA finally doing away with the PPVs. And please don't cancel XPlosion. I have fun recapping it. -
"Hey Steve, I'm on the phone." Very impressive.

Comedy Central's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups
Placebo Effect replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
No Margaret Cho? And while I love John Stewart's stand-up act, he doesn't deserve to be at that spot.
