  1. Here's an updated piece on the new mini-series. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20031203/D.../D7V74TI80.html
  2. Just to add, the physical cause of death was irregular heartbeat followed by stoppage of the heart, which was the result of the struggle. His physical health at the time led to this, in other words, a healthy individual would not have died had they been in the same struggle with police.
  3. Peanut Butter: must be Jiff or Reese's Jelly, Jam: must be Welchs or Smuckers Ketchup: Heinz Cola: Coke or Pepsi, everything else bites Cheese, shredded or otherwise: generic is usually just as good as brand name (at least at Krogers)
  4. There was a candle-light vigil last night. A local black activist actually said "I don't want to spread rumors, but we have heard that there are two holes in his head as a result of the beating..." He did not, of course, provide any source for this "information." Holes in his head? Lordie. He also added: "He was not violent, he was not doing anything."
  5. Hear that kkk, you are now a "pseudo racist". *waits for the real kkk *
  6. from tvguide.com: What the hell is the deal here? Are they rehashing the same material as before, or is this show going to be about the actors, writers, and producers while they go about making the show? Either way, this looks painfully bad.
  7. Mark Walsh, one of the investors, has said he wants this network to be known as 'centrist' and avoid the 'liberal' label. "To label ourselves as liberal radio out of the box is a little regrettable, and something I'm trying to avoid," he says. Yet, he is close to hiring Franken and Garofalo? Yeah, they're centrist, very in touch with the mainstream. This whole thing is so lame. Whining about talk radio being dominated by conservatives, so they're going to just buy their way into it? "You guys are all over, it's not fair, it's not fair!" "I know, let's get a bunch of rich white liberals and we'll just start our own network!" Why don't they just find talented people and do it the way the conservatives did...well, I guess that's out. I heard Franken once on a talk show and when the host told him to hold his thought, it was time for a commercial break, Franken said, Aha! the infamous commercial break you conservatives use to cut off anyone with an opposing argument.... Yeah, these guys really know what they're doing--this aint NPR morons.
  8. I agree, this thing is going to be Ghostbusters 2-awful. BUT, if by some miracle it's good (which I'm hoping) I'll come here and eat my words. But I think my stomach is safe from ever coming into contact with my words.
  9. The radio host is Bill Cunningham (WLW)--Oscar saw his appearance on Hannity and Colmes. I didn't see the show because I don't have cable (yeah, I'm in the stone age), but I have listened to him on the radio and he has only echoed what the mayor of Cincinnati has said. He has not said anything radical, but people hear what they want to. Oscar needs to read up on police procedure. He could wield a lot of influence among blacks around here. Now I'm off for some White Castle, this incident has really given me a craving for those suckers...
  10. Just a side note here: University of Cincinnati star and NBA legend Oscar Robertson has weighed in on this. He heard a local talk show host speaking on this matter in favor of the police and has refused to do an interview with the radio station where the host works. He normally keeps a very low profile. A person of his reputation (excellent) can only cause more problems here, although there's no way it escalates to the riot level as before with T. Thomas. The media has tried to make this into a rodney king deal, but I think they've failed. I checked the network news last night and none of them led with and only CBS mentioned it in the 1st 15 minutes, and they showed experts backing the police. This thing is fizzling out.
  11. Hey, I like White Castle burgers, very trashy and decadent (especially the new jalapeno burgers). (Stay away from the chicken.)
  12. Seems like an extremely tough situation. Absolutely it's horrible, cheating on their wives, leaving their families. The widows are obviously going through unimaginable grief, and they desire and identify with other firemen. They are vulnerable and open to a man/father in their life. The other wives are conveniently blocked out, I doubt if they intentionally sought out to ruin a marriage. And the men are attracted to the needs of the women, who were part of their tight community. It really doesn't seem that surprising that it would happen.
  13. The police did not just randomly beat the dude. They used proper procedure and struck at pain points--they intentionally avoided vital organs and the head (the medical reports confirm this). The guy kept resisting and resisting and was out of control on PCP and cocaine. They couldn't keep him down and he would not simply lie down and allow himself to be cuffed. What they did was quite different than some street beating, where a guy gets brutally hammered, jaw broken, ribs broke, etc. See: Reginald Denny.
  14. Just heard a report here from the ME: Mr Jones had cocaine and PCP in his system. Also, the local NAACP is calling this murder and is launching an investigation of its own.
  15. Most certainly. It sure as hell won't be in Hyde Park--not that the wealthy white liberals in that neighborhood don't agree with the protestors--they just don't want that 'element' in their backyard. BTW, a local talk show host (Bill Cunningham) will be on Hannity and Colmes tonight, as well as whatever show is on MSNBC.
  16. At least Fox News is showing the entire clip, which apparently the 'Today Show' is incapable of doing. There is going to be a protest rally this afternoon by the usual suspects here.
  17. Well, I live in Cincinnati and this is being discussed on radio here. Not surprisingly, the national media is simply reporting this incident as "police kill black man." Obviously they're to lazy to get the entire story. In addition, they are showing a tiny portion of the video, leaving out most of what happened, you know, important things like the guy charging the police. As I speak, Roger Webster is on a radio show... updates to follow...
  18. I'll second that. I really thought Blind Guardian deserved a much higher placement. One group I cannot believe is absent is Gamma Ray. Metal-Rules loves nearly all their albums. They are IMO first class Metal, German instrumental perfection.

  20. *has mental images of what might be captured on such a camera* *retches on late night snack* (sick thing is plenty of twisted men out there would want copies)
  21. Speaking of the connection between women going to the bathroom and getting aroused, there was an old pervert a few years back around my neck of the woods who was caught in a...rather bizarre situation. You see, he had lowered himself down into the women's outhouse at a festival (a real outhouse--this was in the country). He was wearing a homemade plastic suit and he was having a bang up time watching woman after woman taking dumps, etc above him. Well, finally he was spotted by a seriously freaked out lady and hauled off by the police.
  22. That's no doubt what she meant (we all know there are plenty of inarticulate athletes out there), but actually saying it as she did on national television does not come across well at all.
  23. Holy God, that chick is clueless. That's about a 9.9 on the cringe factor scale. I'm sure Al and John loved hearing that. "Yeah, we got some fine-talkin' negroes here Al..."
  24. Whoops--yeah, the title should have been sex-neutral bathrooms or something like that. And, as mentioned earlier, how would you like to emerge from a stall, after having a particularly nasty shit, and finding a hot girl right outside the stall... Not cool.
