Vancouver is our San Francisco.

Two words: Reconstructive surgery.

I have to do a Kerry on this issue: I'm a vehement supporter of privacy rights, but I also believe parents have the right and duty to know what their kids are up to. I also believe she's a lousy parent for letting it get this far.

I agree on all counts.

Or ran him over. Why didn't the other motorists do that?

Are you stupid? Do the words "ice surface" mean anything to you? And aren't you from ANAHEIM?!? If you're running a league that starts in April, you better have a game with the Anchorage Anchors visiting the Nunavut Minimalists, or you're going to be skating on slush with a super-ball puck. Tampa Bay and Dallas have been maligned for shitty ice surfaces in the beginning of the season and the postseason. The Not-The-Northlands Coliseum, up in Edmonton, is renowned for having a superb ice surface. Likewise, Edmonton is renowned for being pretty fucking cold in the winter. April?!? Come on! This is as "winter sport" as winter sports get! In case you didn't notice, AstroRink hasn't been invented yet, and they're playing on FREAKING ICE. FROZEN WATER. A PHENOMENON THAT TAKES PLACE IN WINTER. CANADIAN CHILDREN PLAY HOCKEY ON FROZEN PONDS, THEN GO INSIDE AND WATCH IT ON TV. Ice hockey in the summer. Don't insult people's intelligence. Well said. If any sport currently played in the winter should be moved to summer its Basketball. I don't know anyone that goes outside when it's snowing to shoot some hoops, but I could be wrong, so edjumacate me.

Not during the sentencing phase. If there is any reasonable doubt at all in your mind, then you are obligated to vote 'not guilty'. Since that didn't happen, his guilt was proved beyond a reasonable doubt. It is not an issue. Giving him life because you think he may not have done it is bullshit. If you think he may not have done it you never should have voted guilty to begin with. The criminal justice system is based on that. The problem is he was convicted in the court of public opinion even before his official trial got underway. I also have no doubt that if neither he nor Laci (especially her) were so photogenic then he'd be facing a life sentence behind bars, not the death penalty.

I support the death penalty in cases where the guilt of the offender is known beyond any doubt, but this was certainly not the case.

People in Alberta would boycott the NHL if their teams were in a division called "Trudeau".

And that is the biggest problem I have with the decision to have him executed: The evidence was at best circumstancial and his arrogance was used against him. Sealed his fate, as you say.

It worked for the Romans, and like the Romans the powers that be could use the gladiatorial games to draw the populace's attention away from real issues of importance, much like the MSM does today.

WWII POW's and Holocaust victims would love that idea.

Ding ding ding That's one of the reasons I moved from conservativism to total libertarianism. The claim the conservatives want small government is bullshit. They want a big controlling government like liberals do, just for different reasons. The same here. It's why I'll never take social conservatives seriously. Or hippies, who are just as bad with their need for all encompassing political correctness.

The Chinese government sends the bill for the execution to the condemn's family.

Like in Saudi Arabia?

He should win on appeal, the evidence against him was circumstantial at best, and certainly not grounds for the death penalty. Precisely.

The best burgers are at the local diner, the patties are over an inch thick. Franchises: Wendy's bacon double cheese-burger or A&W Mozza burger.

I doubt it'll even get much of a mention, and it won't make any difference until the policies of the FCC are changed so that this can't happen again.

The uber-PCness hasn't quite infested here yet, but then again I live in the hinterland.

I'm waiting for the day some schmuck at the office is dragged away in handcuffs for using a pair of scissors to cut paper. Wait for it. -

There is a bright side to this: The family can sue the school board and the police for a shit load of money. -
I freely admit that the message below my avatar is a lie.

So, next week Bush is coming over to Canada. He'll attend a dinner at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, but it will be strictly business. The next day he'll be travelling to Halifax reportedly to thank them for opening their homes to American flight-goers stranded during 9/11 when US airspace was shut down. I live a couple hours from Halifax, but I won't be able to get there, but naturally this visit is all over the news here.

This is good news.

He'll change his mind after a few good tokes.
