That is just too funny. We have a winner.

I'd fire the guards that were supposed to makes sure the doors are locked and hire these guys in their place. They're stupid, but at least they're honest.
-
Pretty much.

"I'd like to thank ever--fuck that, I'd like to thank myself for winning this MVP trophy and this Championship. I had outstanding playoffs; they just gave me the ball and I scored at will and as for the other team? They suck. That's why they lost, I mean I bet them by myself. People like to thank God when they win a game, well yeah, I'd like to thank myself too." That's the kind of post game interview I'd love to see.

I drink Keith's, Fosters and Heineken, so it's no great loss. And the occasional Budwesier.

It's obvious he wasn't thinking at all.

I resolve to chill out. I should just start being myself and not giving a shit about who get banned or whatever here, as long as it's not me.

Do what the French Foreign Legion does: Create new identities for them so they're expendable and then send them to the various hot spots around the globe and tell them they either complete the mission or die in the attempt. Simple.

Maybe a new rule about spammy avatars, etc. should be brought in? Just a suggestion.

I think you're all forgetting that these polls are, frankly, irrelevant so early in the campaign.

I only keep you around because you make me laugh, kkk....

Oh, I know he didn't plan 9/11, but I am certain he had every intention of going to war with Iraq regardless of whether 9/11 happened or not.
-
So....was he supposed to jump out of his seat and scream "OH MY GOD!" when his aide whispered into his ear?

Well, it just takes a while for the rules to catch up to some people. The fact remains that it took a long time for an established poster to be banned, as they are given far more leeway than those that do not post as much. I've seen newbie posters getting the boot for something inconsequential while those with a higher post count have flamed or trolled with relative impunity.

Elections can be rigged and ballots can be spoiled. Besides, we have no way of enforcing a result if the mods decide to rule against the majority, so in the end an election would only be a PR bit.
-
excessive stupidity I knew someone would make a reply like that, but what I meant was how does the term apply within the rules? What qualifies as excessive stupidity and by whose standard is it judged?
-
I couldn't care less whether or not CO was banned, but isn't the "excessive stupidity" reason given rather broad? What exactly does it mean?

There's actually a tavern named after Hoff where I live.....

Another point to consider is if the US constantly does Iraq's dirty work, then the newly formed government will be seen as a puppet of the US. And yes, I'm well aware the US still has a great deal of influence over Iraq, but there's a difference between having influence and pulling the strings and it's important that the Iraqi government can show its citizens that it can deal with problems on its on, and doesn't have to turn to a foreign power to solve its problems.

And if 9/11 hadn't happened, we'd still be watching the Levy/Condit saga....

I don't know if it was the right thing to do, but if it was done, it may have been the necessary thing to do. Let's not kid ourselves. So much of the culture of the Middle East thrives on fear; even if we want Iraq to become a fully-functioning democracy, they'll likely have to become similar in a few ways to, say, Israel - i.e. being quick and devastating towards its enemies. And that might mean that the PM has to make examples out of some of the insurgents if that's what it's going to take to show that he's serious. Exactly. Their culture and customs are completely foreign to us and for all we know the Iraqis might admire a leader that takes matters into his own hands. He killed some terrorists, so what? The previous ruler of Iraq was doing far worse and in far greater numbers to his own citizens.

"Yeah, I got caught with some dope a couple years and they gave me a choice, so I went to the army, did my time there and the best part is they taught me how to fuck shit up, man!" "Coool!! Where do I sign up?" Seriously though, there's upsides and downsides to this. One the one hand a stint in the military could shape some misfits up and put them back on the straight and narrow, on the other hand teaching some of these people how to kill isn't a great idea.

There's a slight difference between being famous and being infamous.

I heard about that; something along the lines of letting Pearl Harbour happen so FDR could galvanise the people to go to war. He did get involved unofficially against Nazi Germany even before the States officially entered WWII. It may all be revisionism though.
