Just in case you're interested for comparison's sake, I've got a whole picks thread here. 0-2 so far this week, but I've got lots more picks to go.
-
I've been traveling the last few days and haven't had internet access, so I didn't realize that I didn't make the pick. Looks like I won't be able to get it in from that post, but just in case, I'd like Oklahoma State if allowed since the game hasn't started yet.

A lot of people take this message board WAY to seriously. True that. Leena's not even in the Top 50. Try reading the wrestling folders for a while if you want to see people ridiculously uptight about a message board.

I voted CBS. NBC has the best production, but I honest to god cannot stand Madden. Every thing he says is either blatantly obvious, stupid, or both. I can't remember how many years it's been since he said something insightful on air. Edit: Watched that YouTube package. I'd forgotten what it was like to actually care about the NFL. The idea of an epic showdown like that is just completely lost now. I loved the NFL from when I was a little kid through Elway's first Super Bowl, but now, I watch maybe a quarter of a game and get bored and change the channel.

Is that why the college football thread was five pages shorter last week? I knew something was different.

That was a pretty great interview. I caught it on SportscenterU this morning. He was acting it all out, pointing both index fingers at himself to show that it was his fault, and then at the end, he slapped himself in the face really hard for god knows what reason.

Not that it's particularly relevant to anything, but if the season ended today, I'd give the Heisman to Garrett Wolfe. That guy's just been having an incredible year. His 353 yards yesterday put him on pace to get over 2800 this season, and he's averaging 9.3 ypc. It's not like he can only do it against weak competition either, he had close to 300 all-purpose yards against Ohio State. I really think he's the best player in the country right now, and it's a shame that he doesn't have a chance to win because of the team he plays for.

Yeah, I couldn't believe that. It's not like it was a late night game or something. It happened in the middle of the afternoon, and Georgia Tech won by 11 on the road. I'm really not understanding that one at all.

Got a new Top 25. No blog, so I'm posting it here. (Previous week's rank in parenthesis) 1. Ohio State 5-0 (1) 2. USC 4-0 (2) 3. Michigan 5-0 (4) 4. Florida 5-0 (3) 5. Auburn 5-0 (5) 6. LSU 4-1 (6) 7. Louisville 4-0 (7) 8. West Virginia 4-0 (8) 9. Texas 4-1 (9) 10. Tennessee 4-1 (10) 11. Notre Dame 4-1 (11) 12. Oregon 4-0 (13) 13. California 4-1 (12) 14. Boise State 5-0 (20) 15. Georgia Tech 4-1 (22) 16. Clemson 4-1 (15) 17. Oklahoma 3-1 (16) 18. Georgia 5-0 (17) 19. Florida State 3-1 (21) 20. Nebraska 4-1 (18) 21. Missouri 5-0 (24) 22. Texas Tech 4-1 (NR) 23. Penn State 3-2 (NR) 24. Miami 2-2 (NR) 25. Washington 4-1 (NR) Close (in order): Iowa, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Washington State, Air Force, Houston, Rutgers A couple quick notes here: I had Florida and Michigan in pretty much a dead heat the last couple weeks, so the fact that Alabama had a legit shot to beat Florida, even though the Gators ended up winning by two scores, and the fact that the ND win is legitimized due to GT being for real are enough to move Michigan up to #3. It's still very close however, and a win over LSU would very likely move Florida back up to #3, and possibly even #2. Also, USC doesn't drop because they won by a TD on the road without their top receiver the same week Florida and Michigan won by 2 TDs on the road and Auburn won by 1 TD on the road. I just don't think it's right to punish them for the injury. Maybe if it was a long term thing, but if Jarrett's not back next week, he'll certainly be there before they hit the heart of the schedule.

Michigan was pretty dominant again this week as Minnesota was never really in the game at all. Are you sure that you want to have two one-loss teams over them? I mean for as good as Texas has looked this year, who have they beat? Iowa State and that's it. Also, Texas got beaten pretty soundly at home by OSU, and I really think that if the Wolverines got the Buckeyes at home this year, they'd beat them. Glad to see Georgia Tech in the Top 20 though, even though I'd probably put them a little higher.

Gotta love the controversy. The contest wouldn't be as much fun without it. I'll just be glad to be in the Top Ten this week, and I'll slowly worm my way back toward the top in the weeks that follow. By the way, Bored, think how much more fun this thread would have been if you hadn't posted the details until tomorrow. We could have had 10 different whiny Leena posts about why she should be in first.

I beat some teddy bear 4-3 in contested ganes. All I know is that I'm a genius. Edit: It took extensive translation to turn my drunken ramblings into words. Jesus Christ am I ever drunk!
-
All right, I'm back out to the bars. If I don't give any more opinions when i come home drunk tonight, I'll give them as soon as I wake up sober tomorrow.
-
Fuck yeah! TD Michigan, TD Ohio State! I'm rocking and rolling tonight.
-
All right. I'll match the $50 Bored puts up for the winner of the pick 'em. How's that? Of course, that really doesn't share the cash at all since I'm obviously winning the contest. Who's #1 after this week. I'n guessing it should be Oregon State, but don't worry. I should be catching you in no time flat. I always have a hard time the first week, but I'll be 4-1 tonight, and I'm not going to be losing any time soon now that there are enough games to analyze.

Ooh, we're counting up bets now? I love it. After winning a lot of $100 to $300 bets today, I've got $800 on Ohio State tonight at -6.5 and $500 on Michigan split between -8 and -9.5. Right now, I'm at home where I can only watch the Michigan game, but I'll be back out at the bars pretty soon.

OK, I went to a sports bar to watch GT/VT since it wasn't on at the house, and I just want to say that Georgia Tech looks awesome right now. They should easily be in the Top 15 after the way they destroyed Virginia Tech. I'm pretty drunk too, but even though I'm not supposed to talk about gambling here, I just want to say I'm 7-2 for the day and up $1,000. Whoo! I love college football!

I think if the only way the thread is worthy of consideration for classics is because the OP does something ridiculous, and then said OP bumps the thread six months after it's died requesting it go to classics, that should be an automatic denial.

1. Death 2. Death 3. Death It basically renders your life meaningless and you can't possibly get away from it. What could be worse?

Why would you go to Canada to eat Mexican food?

Really good game between S. Carolina and Auburn, and a tremendously impressive performance by Syvelle Newton. He basically took over the game by himself, making a ton of good throws, and getting 5-10 yards down the sideline whenever the receivers were covered. I really don't think it was a "letdown" for Auburn at all. South Carolina just executed their gameplan to perfection, Auburn failed to adjust to the running threat of Newton, and SC came within one play of pulling the upset.

I guess I'm in the minority a little bit here. I looooved the pilot, but I was pretty disappointed with the second episode. It didn't pack that much punch, and after all the build up to the show, all we saw was the stupid unfunny song before it went off the air. They should have at least showed the Crazy Christians sketch. I also really didn't find myself laughing much whereas most of the stuff when Matt was on painkillers was hilarious. I'll certainly be watching this week, (MNF and Raw both tend to bore the shit out of me lately), but I really hope this isn't one of those cases where a brilliant concept from the pilot ends up turning to shit five episodes in.

I'll defend LSU at #4. I wouldn't feel right putting them that high with a loss, but honestly, I think they're better than Auburn right now. Play that game at a neutral site or get the pass interference call right, and they're 4-0 at #2 or #3. I think they're the best team in the SEC talent-wise, even though they'll still probably pick up another loss at Florida.

Better?
