WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

I remember reading somewhere that RVD was under WCW contract before he was signed by WWE. It would have been interesting to see RVD in fusient WCW, I have no doubt he would of caught on as quickly with the fanbase as he did with WWE's, and Bischoff would of loved his kick filled moveset. Yeah IIRC, old Robbie confirmed this in some inteview, I just forget where it was.

    Syd Barrett Dead

I figure it was a long time coming. He was too nuts to properly take care of himself, and I believe his Mom had been dead a few years. I just hope it was some type of natural causes that did it. Rest In Peace, Madcap.
  7. GUNS N' ROSES lead singer Axl Rose was taken into custody by the Swedish police Tuesday morning (June 27) after getting into a fight with a hotel security guard. Officer Tove Hägg told The Local the rock star was in a cell still drunk at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. She said he is being charged with damaging property, assaulting a security guard, and threatening police in the squad car on the way to the station. "He was aggressive and acting out," Fredrik Nylén, one of the arresting officers, told Aftonbladet. After GUNS N' ROSES' sold-out show at The Globe (attended by 13,100 people), the entire band minus Axl went to the nightclub Café Opera at approximately 1:00 a.m. for an after-party. The enigmatic vocalist joined them at 2:20 a.m. and was immediately surrounded by a throng of leather-dressed blonde females and Swedish celebrities including members of ACE OF BASE, BACKYARD BABIES and THE POODLES. [Watch a video clip of Axl arriving and leaving Café Opera at this location.] "It was a fantastic show. The Swedish fans were wonderful," Axl Rose told Aftonbladet as he started enjoying one of the things that he demanded at the party Jack Daniel's with a temperature between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius. "We will party all night long," guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal told Expressen earlier in the night. The band had previously asked to be met by Swedish blondes at the after-party a request which was publicized in the local media. "Yeah, I like it," Axl Rose reportedly said, as he sat down between two blonde girls and lit up a cigarette this despite a smoking ban that currently exists in bars and restaurants in Sweden. The party continued into the early hours of the morning at the Berns hotel where the band is staying. And there something went wrong. At 7:52 a.m., Axl Rose was arrested (photo) by the police and brought to the police station in the Norrmalm section of Stockholm. The hotel manager, Joakim Olauson, confirmed to Aftonbladet that the rock star was involved in a brawl at the hotel. "I can confirm that there has been an incident in which Axl Rose was involved. Since this is an ongoing police investigation, I must refer you to the police," he said. Fredrik Nylén, one of the arresting officers, told Aftonbladet that Axl Rose was very aggressive and out of control when the police arrived at the scene so much so that the police were forced to handcuff and restrain him. According to a witness, Axl Rose started fighting with a woman. The hotel staff then tried to intervene and that's when Axl went on the attack. A 30-year-old security guard, who broke up the fight between the woman and Rose, was bitten in the leg and taken to a hospital for evaluation Tuesday morning. "He was taken to the hospital this morning in order to see if there was any risk of him getting tetanus," said Antonio Saluena, the chief of the private security company employing the injured guard, according to Aftonbladet. "[Axl] broke a mirror in the hotel reception and was very upset," a witness said. "It is somewhat unclear as to why. He was also about to get into a scuffle with another hotel guest." According to Fredrik Nylén, Axl's actions during the arrest resulted in additional charges being filed against him. "He is now also suspected of threatening an officer of the law," he said. "Threatening a police officer is punishable by jail time, but in this will case, it will likely result in a fine." The Swedish TV host Gry Forssell partied with Rose until 4:30 a.m. "Axl was in a great mood," she said. "He was dancing, drinking and he was surrounded by girls. He gave me a shot and seemed to be having a very pleasant night." GUNS N' ROSES are supposed to perform in Oslo tomorrow but are staying in Stockholm until early Wednesday afternoon. Catarina Oscarsson, the publicist for the Swedish concert promoter EMA Telstar, expects the band to be on stage tomorrow night as scheduled. "Hopefully Axl Rose will be in Oslo tomorrow," she said. "We have not received any information from the police to the contrary." According to Expressen, Axl Rose was involved in a dispute with the Swedish media prior to the concert. Rose reportedly refused to have his picture taken during the show unless the photographers signed away the copyright to the pictures to the band's management. Given this ultimatum, all Swedish photographers decided to boycott the concert. The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved. STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose was arrested in Stockholm early Tuesday after allegedly biting a security guard in the leg outside his hotel, police said. Rose -- who performed in the Swedish capital on Monday evening -- was being held on suspicion of attacking and threatening the guard, as well as causing damage to the Berns Hotel where the alleged scuffle took place, police spokeswoman Towe Hagg said. Hagg told The Associated Press that Rose was intoxicated during the confrontation, which broke out around 8 a.m., and would face questioning after he sobers up. "He was deemed too intoxicated to be questioned right away," she said. A prosecutor will then decide whether to press charges against him, Hagg also said. It was unclear what caused the fight, but Swedish tabloids said the guard tried to intervene when Rose started arguing with a woman in the hotel lobby. Fredrik Nylen, one of the police officers who helped arrest Rose, was quoted by the daily Aftonbladet Web site as saying that the singer acted aggressively toward police and had to be "handcuffed and restrained" in the hotel. "He kept a high profile, so to speak," Nylen was quoted as saying. Guns N' Roses played a concert in Stockholm's Globe Arena Monday night, and had been partying at a well-known night club before the scuffle, Aftonbladet said. ---------------------------------- SOURCE: Reuters Newswire HEADLINE: Guns n' Roses Frontman Held In Stockholm Over Brawl Guns n' Roses frontman held in Stockholm over brawl 27 June 2006 07:38 © 2006 Reuters Limited STOCKHOLM, June 27 (Reuters) - Axl Rose, lead singer of rock band Guns n' Roses, was arrested in the Swedish capital early on Tuesday for violent conduct and damaging a hotel room, police said. Rose, who played a concert in Stockholm on Monday night, was "too drunk to talk" when he was detained and was being held in a cell until sober enough for questioning, a police spokeswoman said. Rose is suspected of attacking a security guard and threatening a policeman. He also "caused minor damage to the interior of the hotel," the spokeswoman said. If he is found guilty of violent conduct he could face up to four years in prison, the police spokesman said. If Rose, whose hits include Welcome to the Jungle and Paradise City, were convicted of a misdemeanour, he would face up to six months in prison or a fine.
  8. Great series by Sabu..........always good to see Cena get fucking smashed by a chair.
  9. I must still be a Taz mark, cause Lawler-Taz may have sold Sunday for me. Foley did too, heck, I'll give him some credit too.
  10. Yeah two things. 1. Lawler and Tazz CANNOT work together.........that looked way too real, because, um, IT WAS. Sunday should be fun. 2. Styles flipping off Ross's hat was classic. Wish they wouldn't have cut off that girly fight.
  11. See, I love Mick Foley and Foley's promos, but that had a tone of............"I've seen it all before." Then again having to listen to Lawler made that interview seem all that much greater.
  12. Probably not the first time Tommy was in that position. The rumor is the man did pretty much bang every female to ever enter that locker room.
  13. Isn't there still a Dreamer/Edge match as well?
  14. I'm beating a dead horse here, but...........still no Sandman match for Sunday when he was the best part of the show last year. 2. Show will be over in a Sid/911 way.......I know a lot of ECW hardcore fans will shit on it cause he's WWE, but as long as he comes out and throws a chokeslam, he'll be over like hell.
  15. As far as them saving a Sandman entrance for the PPV............is Sandman even wrestling Sunday?
  16. If Cena wins Sunday, I really wouldn't mind seeing a riot.
  17. Where the hell is Stevie Richards and Kid Kash? And I wonder what the Sandman is doing tonight. What's with those rumors of he and The Big Show having a confrontation/match?

Guns N Roses to play 2 shows in NY

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/980...o_play_new_york When Axl Rose told Rolling Stone in January that he'd have new music for Guns N' Roses fans this year, he wasn't kidding. After a decade of working on Chinese Democracy, the follow-up to 1993's platinum-selling The Spaghetti Incident, and three years away from American stages, GN'R are ready to play New York next month. Tickets for May 15th and 17th at the Hammerstein Ballroom, go on sale April 21st. While there's no definite word as to what music Axl and his current GN'R lineup will play live, the notoriously reclusive rocker told Rolling Stone of his new songs, "I'm trying to do something different. Some people are going to say, 'It doesn't sound like Axl Rose, it doesn't sound like Guns N' Roses.'" Thirty-two songs -- including the Axl faves "Better," "There Was a Time" and "The Blues" -- are in the works for the new album, to be narrowed down to thirteen. Versions of "Better" and "There Was a Time" were among the tracks leaked online -- and, briefly, to radio -- in February. After these two U.S. dates, GN'R are also slated to play a string of dates in Europe, starting May 27th in Lisbon, Portugal. An official release date for the now-mythical Chinese Democracy has yet to be announced. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1528705/2...?headlines=true Before Axl Rose's current incarnation of Guns N' Roses heads to Europe for a string of festival appearances, the band will perform a pair of concerts at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, according to concert promoter Live Nation. Tickets for both shows — set for May 15 and 17 — will set fans back $63 and go on sale April 21 at 10 a.m. Doors open for both nights at 7:30 p.m. There's no word yet on who might be opening for Guns N' Roses, or whether there will be an opener at all. Velvet Revolver kitman Matt Sorum, who was also a member of Guns N' Roses, wrote in his online blog that he'd had a recent run-in with Rose while in New York, where the drummer performed with Camp Freddy, an all-star cover band featuring ex-Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro; Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell; Revolver's Scott Weiland and Duff McKagan; Moby; Gina Gershon; Shooter Jennings; and former Fuel frontman Brett Scallions also played with the band that evening (see "Velvet Revolver Bassist Promises 'Stinky' Pharrell Collabo"). Sorum said he spotted Axl at a party. "I hadn't seen him in at least six years," he wrote. "I walked over and said 'Hello.' We shook hands and it was pleasant. Later that evening, I ended up in a loft somewhere in the East Village where Axl was again. We spoke for quite some time, and it was nice to clear some things up. I told him how great of a frontman he was while I was in the band and no hard feelings from me at all" (see "Axl Files Suit Against Slash, Lashes Out At Ex-Bandmates"). "It was an all-around good vibe, I think." Guns N' Roses are set to perform the first of 17 European festivals on May 27, when they take the stage during Rock in Rio in Lisbon, Portugal. The last of GN'R's overseas gigs will take place on July 8 in Oslo, Norway, at Spektrum. In February, several songs said to be from the Chinese Democracy sessions leaked online (see "Are Guns N' Roses Finally Coming Back? The Signs Are There ..."). There's still no word on when Rose's decade-in-the-making LP will see release. The two New York concerts will be Guns N' Roses first American shows in more than three years. Back in 2002, the band played a number of dates before pulling the plug on what was to be a global trek (see "It's Extra Official: Promoter Says GN'R Tour Totally Off").

Guns N Roses to play 2 shows in NY

I'm just glad I was there Friday for the only performance of "TWAT" so far. What's interesting to me if the rave reviews Robin Finck is getting so far, but to me, the guy screwed up his parts in "Patience" and "IRS" royally, leaving a bad taste in my mouth. But the show was definitely worth it, it lived up to my expectations, and Axl is still fucking awesome........sounded better live then any othe time since the late 80s.

    Educate me about a band

I have to see these guys open up for GNR in NY on May 17th...........any good, any notable songs, what kind of shit do they play, etc. etc. All help would be appreciated, thank you.

So I shouldn't exactly be too concerned with getting there on time to see these worthless bums? <cue Axl Rose joke>

Guns N Roses to play 2 shows in NY

This whole "original" band controversy all sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me. They will do it in like 5 or so years when Axl gets his other style of music out of his system. Hell, Axl was just hanging out with Matt Sorum and Izzy a few weeks ago. And yes, I will be at at least one of the NY shows.

Guns N Roses to play 2 shows in NY

Couple of factors. I think that because he kind of bailed on the last tour, Clear Channel really doesn't want to work with him, and they also had trouble selling ouit venues last time. Europe festivals would already get huge attendance, and a lot of the shows there in the arenas have sold out already............I think Axl's name just gets more respect out of the US.

Yes, Tommy Stinson is still on Bass. As far as I know the 2002 version of the band is still the same today, just minus Buckethead. Robin Finck from Nine Inch nails and Richard Fortus from the Psychedelic Furs switch between lead and rhythm guitars, Brain from Primus is on drums. Dizzy Reed and Chris Pittman from NIN are both keyboard players. And here are the tour dates from this summer jaunt.......
