The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread
Ted the Poster replied to Insane Bump Machine's topic in Video Games
Yeah, but at least Def Jam's gameplay was off tha hizzle my nizzle! Doggy fizzle televizzle... or something. -
Yeah, remember "There's Something About Mary"? After about four weeks it had a sudden surge of profit, and ended up making a lot more money than anyone said it would. I'm not saying The Rundown will do this; I'm just saying that there's a possibility(even in a bad month for movies).

Sweet Home Alabama was a romantic comedy DATE MOVIE starring REESE WITHERSPOON. That's like a hypnotic message to almost any woman with a boyfriend. "Drag him to this movie; he will thank you later!" the voice tells her. That means more people will(or will have to) see the movie. You also have to consider that the studio is banking mostly on Rock's drawing power, which is obviously wrestling fans, and there are a lot more people that don't watch wrestling than there are people who do watch.

First, I'd just like to say that I am not bashing your review; I'm giving my opinions about your review. When all is said and done, that's all a review is: an opinion. I'm sure you're a nice guy, and you're sure as hell entitled to it, but you did ask for our opinions about your opinion! So here we go! 1. The XFL ring and the Roddy Piper thing were INSIDE JOKES directed at WWE fans. They were not meant to offend you, but to make WWE fans laugh at a few of the company's failures and mishaps. Vince McMahon had very little impact on te movie itself, as his title of "executive producer" was just that, a title. 2. Have you ever SEEN a Christopher Walken movie? He ALWAYS acts in that manner; it's his trademark, and it helped get him an Oscar nomination. I do agree on one thing though; the tooth fairy thing was GOLD. 3. The zipper thing. You said that was homosexual but who else was nearby that could've undone Scott's pants? One of the baboons? Also, did you happen to notice when Rock's handcuff keys fell out of his pocket? Or when Scott used the keys to unlock his cuffs? That would kinda allow him to zip up. 4. 75% of your review looked like it was done solely from the perspective of a wrestling smark instead of the role of a person watching a movie. Those rebel guys did not "job" to Rock at all. For 2/3 of the scene those little dudes kicked Rock's ass. Rock was able to mount a comeback, but he did not really win because Rosario Dawson's character broke up the fight. 5. You also seemingly implied that you didn't think Rock's performance was good. Well can you name one "action star" aside from Sly Stallone who ever gave an award-worthy performance(and no, Bruce Willis doesn't count because of the shitty romantic comedies he has done, and because The Sixth Sense had no action at all)? Also, Rock's next two movies "Walking Tall" and "Spy Hunter" have nothing to do with WWE so I don't see how he could be "contollable". 6. In your review, you said "I don't see why the critics like it. Are they marks for the WWE?". No, the reason critics like it is just the opposite. They are not marks, and many have probably never watched WWE programming since they spend a lot of time REVIEWING MOVIES. Professional movie critics(unlike you and I) saw this movie as people who love the cinema. They saw it for what it is: an above average action(gotta love alliteration!)-comedy buddy movie with nice action and good humor(subtle and blatant).

Fall is the WORST time of the year for movies to make money. I read in Cinescape that movies released in the fall only make about half as much as they would if released in summer or winter. Underworld, which also kicked ass, did not make nearly as much money as many thought it would. The main reason is most likely the start of a new school year. People in college in particular have less recreational time.

Saw it Friday; it was really good. I've always thought Rock would be a better actor in roles with comedic stuff(more than in The Scorpion King I mean) and he busted out some well-sized acting chops. The cameo by Arnold did seem like he was "passing the torch". My only real problem with Rock is that those knuckle tats seemed a bit much. Also, does anybody know what the cross one on his arm is for? It says "6-12(?)-82" and then "Bain". Walken was excellent, as usual. That whole speech about the tooth fairy was fucking awesome: "She takes the god damn thing and leaves a quarter!" The fights were well done. Who knew Rock could do a headscissor takedown(yeah I know it was probably a double)? I also liked it when that guy took Rock's gun using his whip in slow motion. The ending seemed to leave open a lot of potential for a sequel, which I think could very well happen considering Rock and Scott's potential drawing power. Also, Rosario Dawson is one of the hottest women I've seen in a LONG time.

Kenan of "All That" joining SNL as featured player
Ted the Poster replied to DerangedHermit's topic in Television & Film
Kenan was never funny, in any role. At least Kel could provide a good chuckle now and then. SNL already has an unfunny fat guy, so why the hell would they want two? I just know they'll pair Kenan and Sanz up as very crappy recurring characters. Maybe they could be inept detectives called "The Lardy Boys". Darrell Hammond, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are the only reason I watch SNL anymore. Also, I think Tina is hot... and I don't know why, but it's probably because I have a thing for women who wear glasses. Ferrell OWNED. I almost quit watching SNL after Will Ferrell left. He made more cast members laugh in the middle of a show than anyone on SNL ever before. Even though his new film "Elf" is probably gonna suck. I also just learned that he is going be in the Curious George movie as THE MAN IN THE YELLOW HAT~! I loved those books as a kid, and I was marking out after hearing that info. -

So, what TV shows should I be watching?
Ted the Poster replied to Downhome's topic in Television & Film
I love TC too, but if Quinn sputtered with his speech any more I'd think he was an old boat motor. Downhome, you should check out Scrubs(NBC), Monk(USA), The Dead Zone(USA), and The Shield(FX). -
Sorry 'bout that. My cat got on the keyboard.

I have a file that needs XviD so I downloaded the codec, installed it, and rebooted my computer. All should be fine, but while the sound is working the video is totally scrambled and unwatchable. Does anybody have an idea as to what the problem could be? Any help is appreciated.

Cool, it worked! Thanks!

"Someone who can speak fluent Spanish"? That shouldn't be too hard to find in Los Angeles. ... ... ... Just a joke! Don't go all PC on me! ALso, this season is starting to look like it could own the first two.

Oz is one of my favorite shows EVER, and yes, it was undeservingly snubbed for awards EVERY FUCKING YEAR. I have the available DVDs and the book "Behind These Walls", which is a must read, even if you've never seen the show. I never found anything about the show bad except for Spoiler (Highlight to Read): the surreal "experimental aging drug" subplot. Also, KKK, the episode you saw was the season finale of the fourth season. It is definitely the strangest finale the show ever had, but it leads to one of the show's coolest moments during the beginning of the fifth season. I'm not going to post a spoiler though because it's something you must see and not read.

I'm using WMP v9. Maybe the install program I used was bad...

How many must watch shows do you have?
Ted the Poster replied to OldSchoolWrestling's topic in Television & Film

I just read about that being part of his job once.... on prowrestling.com, that is. Since I didn't(and still don't) know his official position in the company, I guess I markishly accepted it as fact. That being said, I hereby promise never to visit a site so untrustworthy again(this week).

1) Stephanie McMahon- She's pretty hot... What? Don't judge me! 2) J.R.'s "offense" and the Coach's ensuing squeals of "Not the face!" 3) I always have and always will like the Undertaker. 4) Shane McMahon's music is great. 5) Terri and Ivory. MILFs! MILFs! MILFs!

Raw would suck with or without HHH and his influence. Why? Bischoff would still be on the creative team, thats why.

Hey, if I'm here for anybody's amusement, it's my own. Also, CSI>you. ... ... ... Do what now?
-
By gimmick poster I take it you mean ending/starting each post with a certain line/phrase? Well then hell yeah I could do that! Or maybe I can say "Where are my popsicles?", or even "Commence to jigglin'!" Also, another Emmy note: Hey Wanda Sykes and George Lopez! Guess what? Dave Chappelle and Carlos Mencia are a lot funnier than you.
-
Emmy afterthoughts: All they needed host-wise were Jon Stewart and Conan O'Brien. Just those guys. I am sick of The West Wing. Give CSI or 24 credit where it's due next year! Tony Shaloub OWNS as Monk. Michael Chiklis > James Gandolfini Did anyone else see "Door to Door"? That movie deserved all it got. Watch it and try not to cry a little. Jon Stewart > Wayne Brady Those same four shows being nominated for Best Comedy year after year is getting really old. That is all. P.S.- These are just my opinions... and also, I'm addicted to television.
