The One And Only Smackdown Thread (01/22/04)
SamoaRowe replied to Lightning Flik's topic in The WWE Folder
Maybe Big Show will try to sell his shirt again, that was classic. And he'll give the U.S. title way to some lucky kid in the front row. -
The One And Only Smackdown Thread (01/22/04)

Hehe, not really. I'll probably give in and read the spoilers within the next hour anyway Drinks for everyone! -
All i know about this show is that the previews I saw featured jokes that were less witty than jokes I make with my friends when we are goofing around. The punchlines were predictable and overplayed. In other words, this show will become Spike TV's biggest hit and will be the next big craze in this nation.

The One And Only Smackdown Thread (01/22/04)

Well, I'm also trying to get out of the habit of reading the Smackdown spoilers. I want to be able to watch the show as if I was a mark again, I had more fun back then. -
Nope, I can't say I did. As much fun as the ICP involvement sounds, I can't justify paying ten bucks to see Jarrett wrestle Apolo. Also, many thanks to Sancho.

The One And Only Smackdown Thread (01/22/04)

I'm pretty excited about the Royal Rumble (I'm actually ordering this one) so I'll be watching. Fortunately for me and (un)fortunately for the rest of you, I have a tv ten feet away from me. -
I wouldn't put that past him. I also predict an Undertaker return to screw Kane out of the rumble.

This might just be a clash of opinions. I was enjoying the gimmick and it didn't really get any real opportunities to be played out live. That, and his matches with Guerrero and Benoit were perfectly fine. I was just upset that he went over Benoit so early. And I also remember seeing a Sean O'Haire vs Mr. America match that clicked and went much more smoothly than it should have.

I don't think even the WWE will be stupid enough to have Randy Orton headline a Wrestlemania at this stage in his career. I'm expecting a Randy Orton title defense, or some sort of fun match with Mick Foley. To me, there are three definitly possible winners: Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, and Goldberg. There are great arguments for all three and I'd be surprised if anyone else won.

Best Match: AMW vs XXX in the cage. Best Worker: AJ Styles Best Feud: Raven vs Jeff Jarrett And for the record, Chris Sabin is one of the most impressive newcomers I've seen in a long time. I love everything that guy does in the ring

Hmm... I can in here looking to see if I should order the TNA replay and instead I was treated to an entertaining dumbass vs the board thread. Good times and good riddance, that ****** bullshit always bugged the hell out of me.
-
Maybe, but there were so many to choose from.

How about this.... Chris Benoit upsets Triple H for his title at Wrestlemania and then HHH embarasses Benoit in his own hometown and takes the title back? That sounds more like something the WWE would do. Or Benoit defeats Triple H by DQ at 'Mania and then loses to HHH at Backlash Needless to say, I'm not feeling very optimistic about this.

Don't be. I wouldn't have paid to order it live since they weren't good overall. Hehe, the reason why I feel only "slightly" guilty is because Unforgiven was complete shit and because Armageddon would have insulted my wallet despite being relatively decent.
-
Not even my mark friends want Goldberg to win. Oh, and it's official: I'm ordering the PPV for sure now That, and I feel a slight bit of guilt for having seen the free webcasts of Unforgiven and Armageddon.

Because they're people on the indies more talented than him who aren't bleating about retirement. I don't outright HATE him, I just think his atttude stinks. Booker T has paid his dues though. He doesn't have much time left either, and it's not as if he's getting a big push or anything. Right now, seeing Booker T get a world title win (or just a big win in general) would make me happier than seeing just about anyone else succeed.

I'll be cross if Goldberg wins as well

So let me get this straight... In 2000, WCW pushed a green Sean O'Haire. During that time, O'Haire became very recognizable to WCW fans and got over to some degree. In 2001, WWF purchases WCW. In the summer, O'Haire and Palumbo show up as the WCW tag champs and quickely lose the belts and are squashed. O'Haire disappears to OVW. In 2002, O'Haire shows up for some appearances on Heat, where the commentators say things like "This is the Sean O'Haire that we've been hearing so much about." After some nice little matches, I believe O'Haire was either injured (or was that Jindrak) and found himself back in OVW either way... In 2003, some neat promos begin to air for Sean O'Haire pretty much playing the role of the little Satan who sits on your shoulder and gives bad advice. The promos are original and entertaining and I became excited that O'Haire was on his way to the main roster. He makes a handful of appearances as this character, most notably advising Spanky to streak around the Smackdown arena. O'Haire finally makes a real debut as the errand boy of Roddy Piper. Rather than develop his character, he follows Piper around and has a sucky match with Rikishi at Backlash. Piper leaves the WWE and O'Haire is instantly depushed. Now in 2004, O'Haire is back in OVW

Mark Henry does have some charisma. I remember finding him pretty amusing back when he was a pervert.

I'm hoping to order it with some friends. I've always enjoyed Royal Rumbles, and this Rumble card looks to be more promising than most PPVs we've seen in a long time.

After reading the initial post in this thread, i'm a bit surprised this thread isn't 10 pages by now... My two cents: Randy Orton is not that bad, he's just not that good. If you ever hear me calling him "Suckbag" it's because the name amuses me. In fact, the "Suckbag" nickname probably gave him 10 points of overness to me. Booker T: How can anyone call this guy an asshole? The guy does whatever he's told, is working with a increasingly hurt back, and has always been about his fans. The guy made a surprise appearance with RVD at our local Hooters the last time WWE came to Manchester. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Rob Van Dam: I've been more understanding of the hate towards RVD in recent weeks, but he's still not a bad worker by any means. Maybe I'll post more if I think of it.

I'd say the guy got what was coming to him. And yes, less annoying music to put up with.
