Could Van Dam be a viable WWE main eventer?
SamoaRowe replied to Superfly Snuka's topic in The WWE Folder
It was almost three years ago, I'm sure the common mark isn't going to think "No, I'm not going to cheer that RVD, HHH made him his bitch three years ago in a forgettable feud and why am I remembering this shit now?" -

I hate this school even more and more. Thanks for posting this link, my friends are going to have a field day laughing at this. -

Just how the hell are they going to enforce this? I could imagine a student at home slipping in an R rated movie and suddenly the robot devil from Futurama drags him away. -
My girlfriend had a mandatory meeting at her school an hour and a half away so we went to that town and went out to dinner. Then she went to her meeting while I entertained myself in a computer lab for three hours. Then she came back and got me and ranted about the stupidity of the meeting. After that we had some cake and exchanged gifts and just had an all around great evening (Valentine's Day was also our one year anniversary). Good times

That does ring a bell. I have lots of those old issues... at my house in Maine... three hours away.... packed up somewhere

Wow, there were some great memories in that video Good/bad stuff.

Awesome Funaki chant! Torrie looked like she was dating Tajiri again

at Amy shooting JBL with the dart gun! Orlando: I can't believe you shot him!

Look, it's Amy Weber! Can I assume this is her last appearance? Too bad Maria and Candace didn't quit too.

Sounds good to me

That was bloody marvelous.

Wow, seems like I'm the only one who liked the goldfish (I thought he was more amusing than the alien). I also liked the backstory to the goldfish and the flashback to the skier with the real goldfish's brain.

Only ten minutes for Jericho/Benoit? I figured since they were in Japan (and since it was a submission match) they would get 15-20. Ah well, still should be good.

I always found Voyager to be hit and miss. Some episodes were really good and left me feeling satisfied while other ones would make me cringe and lunge for the remote. I watched a lot of Enterprise the first year it was on, but I got bored with it by the end of it's first season.

I concur!

Announcement! I'm officially discontinuing this diary on TSM. It's almost finished being moved and new shows will restart there whenever I have time. Once again, PM me for more details. And also happy birthday to this diary! This diary turns one year old tomorrow if i'm not mistaken.

Maybe they were just using it with special permission at the time.

I saw both DVDs at F.Y.E. for 9.95 yesterday, but I was holding up to find it at Wal-Mart (where it will likely be 5.50) or if my Best Buy ever decides to carry it (for 5.99, before my employee discount).

Yes, at one point Smackdown was their #1 show ... and at the time, I'm sure UPN was stoked to have it. But that was then & this is now, and now they don't want to have a wrestling show on their network, and that's their right to choose. What should they do, decide that they don't want to be associated with wrestling anymore but feel obligated to keep it on as a favor or a way of saying thank you? When a show saves your network from going down the tubes, you don't just go "okay, we don't want wrestling anymore, that's not us" when in fact, it is. Even Kevin Smith agrees with me

How is trying to distance themselves from the stigma of being a 'rasslin' network selfish?!? UPN does not owe Smackdown anything, let alone a thanks. They don't want wrestling, fine, it's their right to not renew the contract. Smackdown got good ratings for them, but didn't help them compete against shows like Survivor or "Must See TV" on NBC. It makes sense for UPN to try & find a show that will help them gain credibility, and wrestling probably isn't the show to be doing that with. But at one point, Smackdown was their ONLY hit show. The network was on it's way to shutting down before Smackdown came around, it helped keep them afloat and give them record breaking ratings (for UPN). I don't think any one show could take a crumbling network and have made it a major competitor for "Must See TV" all by itself. But look where UPN is now compared to when Smackdown first came on the air, now they are building itself up. UPN owes Smackdown everything.

Whenever I hear someone say "you're not cool enough to like this band" or something along those lines. Whenever someone calls every band they don't like "a sell-out." Excuse the artists for wanting to make a living. When a band puts out several albums and it becomes customary to only like the first album or two.

UPN can go to hell. When Smackdown first came on the air that network had absolutely NOTHING and looked like it was going to be history within a couple of years. Smackdown absolutely SAVED UPN and this is the type of thanks it gets. So now UPN feels like it's too good for Smackdown, that cracks me up. I hope UPN sinks.

Since my last Raw show was a pay-per-view and the last Smackdown was more of a cliff-hanger episode, I'm sending this diary into temporary retirement. I'm still reposting shows at the other site and I'll start posting new shows when I'm done that. In the mean time, thanks for those who have read this and keep an eye out for this diary's return. And bring back the Fantasy Folder!

Any time before 2000: Whenever I could, as I didn't have cable or UPN. Jan. 2000 to April 2001: Every single show. Period. I would usually watch Heat and the saturday morning shows too, I was obsessed. April 2001 to May 2001: Most shows, though I was bored with most of them. June 2001: Every single show because I was excited about Benoit and Jericho being pushed. July 2001 to January 2002: Most shows, but the excitement was gone, and I was frustrated with how the Invasion had gone. January 2002 to September 2002: I'd watch if I remembered to, did not find any storylines to be interesting during this time. September 2002 to March 2004: Almost always watched Smackdown, found Raw to be pathetic up until late 2003. March 2004 to July 2004: Watched Raw almost every week and still tuned in to Smackdown because it was an entertaining train wreck for a while (my friend and I would make fun of it while watching). August 2004 to present: Watch shows if I remember to or unless I'm not doing anything else. Not really interested in what's going on most of the time, though Raw had some good shows. Typically I'll also watch the first hour of each program before turning it off because it's boring and then turning it on again for the main event segment.

I'm still excited about Backlash coming to Manchester, NH! It should be a fun show regardless of how good/bad the card is. I haven't been to a Raw show since the fall of 2003, so I'm hoping that the Raw guys I haven't seen yet (Jericho, Batista) don't get traded over to Smackdown just in time
