Smackdown October 12th 2006 Michael Cole and Tazz welcome us as the Smackdown pyro explodes and the show is ready to begin. The two competitors for the first match are already in the ring! Funaki vs Charlie Haas (with Shelton Benjamin) Match Background: Funaki has two pinfall victories over Shelton Benjamin, which Benjamin is upset about. The Match: Flying elbow from Funaki connects. Beautiful spinning arm drag out of the corner by Funaki. There's a two count on the pin. Funaki walks into a drop toe hold. STIFF high kick on Funaki by Charlie Haas. I would have bought that as the finish! Haas hits a dropkick on Funaki and gets right back up. Funaki kicks Charlie Haas in the gut to reverse the momentum. Springboard reverse elbow by Funaki. Excellent move. Looks like Muta has giving out lessons. There's a two count on the pin. Springboard dropkick from Funaki. Nicely done. Pin, but Haas is out just before the three count. Hard back suplex on Haas. Come to think of it, that move had WAY too much power in No Mercy for N64. Funaki just WAFFLES Haas with a STIFF chop that hurt ME to watch! Funaki goes for a splash but Haas puts the knees up. Second rope flying axe handle, Funaki goes down. One day, Haas might even consider coming off the top with that. You know...for more impact and stuff. Vicious kick to the teeth from Charlie Haas. Funaki can barely stand. Haastruction! 1....2....3. My Opinion: As close to a **** match as possible...but unfortunately, it was missing something, so I can only give it ***3/4. Cole: What an outstanding match to kick off Smackdown! Charlie Haas picks up a hard fought for victory over Funaki! Tazz: Shelton Benjamin doesn’t look all too thrilled if you ask me, Cole. Cole: He’s probably upset that Charlie Haas could beat Funaki, but he couldn’t. Winner at 8:34: Charlie Haas A GM Stretched Far. Mike Sanders is sitting at his desk, when Trent Acid enters. Acid: You wanted to talk to me? Sanders: Yes, Trent. I would like to know why I have the police requesting permission to search every arena we visit, because the family of Ultimo Dragon hasn’t seen him in over a month? Acid: Ask Sean O’Haire. Sanders: I don’t want to ask Sean O’Haire, I’m asking you. Where. Is. Ultimo. Dragon?!? Acid: I don’t know. Sanders: I think you’re lying to me. I also think you’re going to put all of Smackdown in a huge legal mess if you don’t fess up. This is why I’m making it your personal responsibility that Ultimo Dragon is here on Smackdown next week, or you are fired! Acid glares at Sanders, and leaves. About two seconds later, Doug and Danny Basham come in and pull Sanders over his desk. Doug: Your little SARS boys are pissing us off, Mike. You think we’ve forgotten what Rhyno and Mack did to us! We want them in a match tonight! Sanders: Are you serious!?! You want to fight the WWF and United States champions!?! Danny: Damn right! Sanders: Okay! You got your match, now unhand me and GET OUT! The duo leaves, satisfied. Sanders: I just hope Rhyno gets here on time. He went fishing with Reno again today. Ken Shamrock vs Jay Briscoe Match Background: Ken Shamrock has been feuding with Jimmy Rave and Nova, when they had the nerve of wining a match against him and Simon Diamond. The Match: Uninspired brawling from Ken Shamrock. Jay Briscoe pulls a mule kick out of nowhere. Spinning back kick from Jay Briscoe. The ref is bumped, as goes down after accidentally getting caught by an elbow to the face. Back heel kick off the second rope, Shamrock goes down. Pinfall attempt, but the ref is out and can't count to three! Shamrock kicks Jay Briscoe in the gut to reverse the momentum. Big dropkick by Ken Shamrock, who got a ton of air on the move. Reverse DDT on J.Briscoe. There's a two count on the pin. Ken Shamrock turns J.Briscoe inside-out with a clothesline. Reminds me of Willow's 'Bored Now' skin ripping finisher. Inside joke, don't worry about it. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! J.Briscoe counters a sleeper with a jaw breaker and is able to get free! Flying cross body off the top rope! Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! I would have bought that as the finish! J.Briscoe drops an elbow...but Ken Shamrock moves out of the way. Jay Briscoe gets knocked to the ground by Shamrock. Jay Briscoe gets locked in the Ankle Lock! Submission victory! Jimmy Rave comes running down the aisle with a chair and into the ring! Shamrock turns...and is dropped by a vicious chair shot! Jimmy Rave has left Shamrock down and bloodied. My Opinion: **1/4 rating for this one. Scott Keith may say that it's 'Perfectly Acceptable Wrestling', but not for me, buddy. Got to work harder to impress me. Tazz: Will Jimmy Rave just let it go already! Cole: I don’t see why he should, Tazz! Shamrock and Diamond have done nothing but disrespect Rave and Nova since coming over to Smackdown. Tazz: Well, maybe Ken Shamrock will have to respect Jimmy Rave after that attack. Winner at 4:59: Ken Shamrock Special Order Match Josh Matthews is standing by in the back with Johnny Stamboli and his manager, Erik Watts. Josh: Johnny Stamboli, at No Mercy, on September 22nd, you are going to be facing Sean O’Haire. General Manager Mike Sanders ordered the match, and also stated that you are not to interact with him at all before the match. Stamboli: It’s a cute trick Sanders has devised. He wants the anticipation of the match to get to us, and watch as we destroy each other out of sheer anxiety at No Mercy. It takes more than that to get under my skin. I’m going to beat Sean O’Haire, especially if he has one of those spells where he just collapses. Watts: That’s the thing about Sean O’Haire. He thinks he’s all strong, but it seems that he allows Trent Acid to do all of his thinking for him. If Acid wants O’Haire to win at No Mercy, my client could be in for a real war. That is why I have a special plan for Trent Acid at No Mercy. He’s going to wish he never heard the name of “Erik Watts.” We then go to a commercial, followed by: Johnny Stamboli vs Kid Kash Match Background: Johnny Stamboli is preparing for his big No Mercy match. The Match: Johnny Stamboli connects with rights and lefts and Kid Kash is down! Kash counters a sleeper with a jaw breaker and is able to get free! Kid Kash strikes Stamboli. Johnny Stamboli charges, Kash moves, and the referee is knocked silly! Springboard dropkick from Kid Kash. Nicely done. Pinfall attempt, but the ref is out and can't count to three! Johnny Stamboli avoids a Kid Kash avalanche by getting out of the damn way! Flying shoulder tackle by Stamboli sends Kash CRASHING to the mat. A sit out full nelson slam on Kash. Covers for a quick two count. Massive lariat by Stamboli with some POWER behind it. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! Kid Kash comes up with a right hand out of nowhere. Lightning kick by Kash on Stamboli. Hooks the leg! ONE...TWO...NO! Stamboli backdrops Kid Kash out of a piledriver attempt. That took a lot out of Johnny Stamboli. Johnny Stamboli moves in for the kill. Fugettabout It! 1....2....3. Johnny Stamboli remains in the ring, celebrating the victory. My Opinion: A badly blown spot prevents me from giving out more snowflakes. ***3/4 Cole: Stamboli’s momentum is growing with each and every passing week. Sean O’Haire had better be on the top of his game at No Mercy. Winner at 8:11: Johnny Stamboli Non-title match: Rhyno and Rodney Mack vs Doug and Danny Basham Match Background: Basham Brothers are one of the most experienced teams in the promotion. Rhyno is the reigning WWF World champion, and has been since 16 July 2006. The Basham Brothers are the reigning WWF Tag Team champions, and have been since 20 August 2006. Rodney Mack is the reigning WWF United States champion, and has been since 14 September 2006. Rhyno and Mack beat down Doug and Danny a couple of weeks ago. The Bashams are set to face fellow SARS members Chuck Palumbo and Bill DeMott at No Mercy. The Match: Rodney Mack charges into the corner, but EATS BOOT and staggers backward. Massive backbreaker on Mack and I get happy flashbacks to Bret Hart's Five Moves of DOOM. There's a two count on the pin. Tag between Doug Basham and Danny Basham. Basham Brothers hook up Mack, then hit a double suplex. Danny Basham with a spinning neckbreaker on Mack. There's a two count on the pin. Massive backbreaker on Rhyno and I get happy flashbacks to Bret Hart's Five Moves of DOOM. Death valley driver by Doug Basham! No one executes that move properly anymore. Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Doug Basham connects with rights and lefts and Rhyno is down! Rhyno comes up with a right hand out of nowhere. Arn Anderson-like Spinebuster by Rhyno, executed to perfection. DeMott \ Palumbo come running down the aisle with chairs! Rhyno and Doug Basham continue fighting, unaware of the intrusion. Bill DeMott slides in and blasts Doug Basham with a chair to the head! DeMott climbs out of the ring, the damage done! Doug Basham can barely stand. Gore!!! That shook the ring. 1....2....3!! DeMott \ Palumbo aren't satisfied! They decide to continue the assault on Basham Brothers, stomping them into the mat until referees pull them away! My Opinion: A ****1\2 rating for a great match. Keep on trucking...you'll get there. Cole: Palumbo and DeMott cost the Bashams the match! Tazz: It doesn’t matter, Cole, the titles weren’t on the line, so the No Mercy match is still intact! If this is any indication, we’re going to see the crowning of new Tag Team champions on September 22nd! Winners at 23:38: Rhyno and Rodney Mack Cruiserweight Turmoil Josh Matthews is standing by with Jamie Noble. Josh: Jamie Noble, congratulations on becoming Cruiserweight Champion once again. Noble: Thank you, boy. It’s good to be the champ again. Just wish my title victory could have been a bit more meaningful, when Scoot Andrews started acting all weird ‘cause that Sean O’Haire fool abducted him like an alien. Scoot won’t even talk to me anymore, in fact, I have to watch my back at all times now. Never knowing when those demon-worshipping weirdos are going to want to abduct someone else. (Frankie Kazarian comes in). Frankie: Well, Jamie, I feel your pain. We must band together on this one. Which is why you should do the right thing and grant me a rematch for the Cruiserweight championship at No Mercy. I talked to Mike Sanders, and he agrees with me on this one, he told me that Sean O’Haire, Trent Acid, Scoot Andrews, and even Ultimo Dragon are forbidden from ring side. Noble: Why should I face you again!?! Frankie: To prove you deserve to hold that title. Besides, it will ensure your safety for at least No Mercy. Noble: You’re on, boy! I’m gonna destroy you. Frankie: Just do me a favor and don’t hold back this time. (Pats Noble on the cheek in a spiteful manner, and leaves). Mark Briscoe vs Simon Diamond Match Background: Earlier, each competitor’s respective tag team partner faced off in the opening bout. The Match: Mark Briscoe strikes Diamond. Mark Briscoe strikes Diamond. Diamond takes a flying neckbreaker from Mark Briscoe. M.Briscoe uses a basement dropkick to the knee and it looks like it might be TIME TO GO TO SCHOOL~! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. M.Briscoe drops an elbow...but Simon Diamond moves out of the way. Double arm suplex by Simon Diamond connects as M.Briscoe hits hard. M.Briscoe ducks a wild right hand. THERE IT IS! A legdrop to the BACK OF THE HEAD! I swear, that makes any match just a little bit better. I don't mind telling you that every time I see it, that's for sure. Nova comes running down the aisle and into the ring! Simon Diamond turns around. Nova spins Diamond around. Nova hits the Spin Doctor! Nova leaves the ring, the damage done! Cover gets three for Mark Briscoe, Diamond got pinned. M.Briscoe \ Nova are beating down on Simon Diamond! The music of Ken Shamrock hits, and he comes running down the aisle into the ring. M.Briscoe and Nova bail out of the ring, leaving Simon Diamond down in the ring. Ken Shamrock may have saved Simon Diamond from a brutal beating. My Opinion: Let me practice my math. 13 quarter stars equal a ***1\4 rating, right? Yeah, it does. That's what you get. Cole: Nova cost Simon Diamond the match! Tazz: Some measure of revenge was taken by Ken Shamrock as well, he still looks pissed over what Jimmy Rave did to him earlier. Winner at 5:53: Mark Briscoe Chad Collyer, Paul London, and Alex Arion vs Sean O'Haire, Low Ki, and AJ Styles Match Background: Paul London and AJ Styles have a No DQ match waiting for them at No Mercy. Alex Arion and Low Ki will also be competing against each other with Rodney Mack for the United States championship. Chad Collyer is also the number one contender for the WWF championship. Bodyslam by O'Haire. Sean O'Haire scores with a standing spinebuster. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! I would have bought that as the finish! Rude Awakening neckbreaker on Alex Arion by O'Haire. Remember when that was a legit finish? O'Haire tags out to Low Ki. Low Ki drives a HARD forearm into the chest of Arion. Big dropkick by Low Ki, who got a ton of air on the move. Alex Arion comes up with a right hand out of nowhere. Arion tags out to Paul London. Flying elbow from Paul London connects. Low Ki tags out to AJ Styles. Dropkick connects to the BUTT of the jaw and London goes down. London counters a backdrop attempt with a kick to the face and hit a clothesline! Paul London floors AJ Styles...and climbs the turnbuckles. Through the air, London Calling! 1....2....3. My Opinion: Almost got a **** match, but was lacking in certain areas, so i'm knocking off a quarter of a star. Yes, there is such a thing as a quarter star. ***3/4. Cole: Yes, London picks up a win over AJ Styles! Styles, aware of what has happened, gets back up in shock. He sees that London has his back to him, and delivers a vicious low-blow! He then escapes, while London collapses. Meanwhile, Alex Arion and Low Ki have been brawling and are now no where to be seen. Sean O’Haire, looking empathetic, just leaves. Chad Collyer decides to chase after AJ Styles since London cannot. Styles, while limping, makes it up to the top of the stage and goes through the curtain. Collyer is in hot pursuit and about to go backstage when Rhyno gores him through the curtain. Collyer is down! Cole: A sneak attack by Rhyno! Tazz: Rhyno set a perfect trap for Collyer, and he just walked right into it! Collyer is down and out as Mike Sanders comes out and hands Rhyno his WWF Championship. Rhyno holds the belt over his head while standing over Chad Collyer. Winners at 12:45: Paul London, Chad Collyer, and Alex Arion

But first, it’s time for the World Tag Team Championship! World Tag Team Championship: J.R. Ryder and Brian Kendrick © vs Adam Hastey and Austin Lee Match Background: This match is for the World Tag Team titles. R & S Connection have been World Tag Team champions since 25 September 2006. Ryder and Kendrick won the titles from Hastey and Lee in a cage match at Unforgiven. Ryder is a Smackdown superstar, and has to return to Smackdown whenever he and Kendrick lose the tag titles. The Match: J.R. Ryder strikes Lee. THERE IT IS! A legdrop to the BACK OF THE HEAD! I swear, that makes any match just a little bit better. You know...for more impact and stuff. Tag to J.R. Ryder. Ryder just WAFFLES Hastey with a STIFF chop that hurt ME to watch! Tag between Adam Hastey and Austin Lee. Hard back suplex on Lee. Come to think of it, that move had WAY too much power in No Mercy for N64. Ryder scores with a forearm, sending Lee down into the corner. The referee pulls J.R. Ryder away to get the break. Wait! Bryan Danielson just came out of nowhere with a chair! Adam Hastey turns...and gets planted with a big shot to the head! Austin Lee runs over...but also gets dropped with a vicious chair shot! Bryan Danielson has put Hastey and Lee down by himself! My Opinion: A ***3/4 rating! Yay! Tenay: Austin Lee tried to steal a victory, but the referee caught him in the act! Coach: But what the hell is up with the “American Dragon!” What has Evolution done to provoke these attacks?!? Tenay: I don’t know, but I don’t care! Evolution has had this coming, and besides, at least Bryan Danielson has been smart enough to wait until AFTER the matches end to interfere! He clearly respects Shawn Michael’s New Rule! Kendrick and Ryder fall back, observing Danielson, not sure how to respond to this. Danielson, his work done, makes his exit through the crowd. Winners by DQ at 9:34 and STILL World Tag Team Champions: J.R. Ryder and Brian Kendrick Back, by Unpopular Demand Todd Grisham (who recently returned) is standing by with Justin Credible. Todd: Justin, just a few weeks ago you turned on your long-time friend and tag partner, Lance Storm. Then you inexplicably gained the right to referee Storm’s World title match at Unforgiven. Now last night on Sunday Night Heat, Storm cost you a match against Johnny C. What is going on, exactly? Credible: I don’t think I need to explain myself, Todd. Lance and I were a great tag team, but that wasn’t good enough for him. He wanted to leave me behind. I was nothing more than a damn back-up plan to that arrogant asshole. You want to know how I managed the right to referee his match at Unforgiven (pulls out a piece of paper). This is why, I took some courses and am now a certified referee. Todd: Justin, this isn’t a ref license, this is a piece of scrap paper that says “I’m a ref” in crayon? Credible: Argh, you think I’d carry the real thing with me? It’s way too valuable, I’d (gets cut off because Steve Corino enters). Corino: You know something, everyone should back off of you, Justin. You gave Lance Storm exactly what he deserved at Unforgiven. He unfairly defeated ME in that tournament final, it should have been ME challenging Chris Benoit that night. I commend you for what you did. (Justin and Corino shake hands). I’ll keep in touch. Credible: See, there are still good guys in this world. Anyways, I went to Shawn Michaels earlier today and asked him for a match against Lance tonight on Raw, and he said he’d seriously consider it. Todd: Oh, hehe. He did, I guess. He already made a big tag match for tonight’s main event. Credible: Huh? Todd: He said he wanted a hot main event, so he booked Chris Benoit and Steve Corino against Randy Orton and Lance Storm for tonight! Credible: What! Why does Corino get to be in the match?!? That’s not fair! (Credible storms off). Tenay: Wow, sounds like a great match we have to look forward to! Coach: What the hell, how many times does Chris Benoit have to beat Randy Orton before he will finally go away! Rico, Lodi, and Ozzy Benton vs Bubba Ray Dudley, Frank Shamrock, and Johnny C. Match Background: Last week Rico and Lodi beat Shamrock and Bubba Ray in a two on two match. Ozzy Benton is cranky with his associates over his lack of control in their partnership. The Match: Benton strikes away at Frank Shamrock, not doing much damage at all. Ozzy Benton hits a right hand on Frank Shamrock. Tag between Ozzy Benton and Rico. Rico suplexes Frank to the canvas and floats over. Rico hits a shitty missile dropkick on Frank. There's a two count on the pin. Tag to Lodi. The New Rainbow Express whip Frank into the ropes and hit a double back elbow. Lodi hits a spinning back kick. All those spinning kicks look alike, don't they. Frank blocks a kick from Lodi. Frank Shamrock snap suplexes Lodi HARD to the canvas! And again! A pair of clotheslines follow and...yep, Frank is a HOUSE...EN...FUEGO~! Tag between Frank Shamrock and Bubba Ray Dudley. Bubba slams Lodi down and motions to the crowd. Death valley driver (not to be confused with the DVD 500) by Bubba Ray Dudley connects and Lodi is down! Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Rude Awakening neckbreaker on Lodi by Bubba. Remember when that was a legit finish? Tag to Johnny C.. Johnny C. hits some punches. How generic. BIG clothesline on Lodi. Johnny C. misses a clothesline. Tag to Ozzy Benton. Ozzy Benton with a badly-executed spinning neckbreaker on Johnny. One more performed that badly and this match will end on a bad note, if you get my drift. Tag between Johnny C. and Frank Shamrock. Frank Shamrock connects with a HARD right hand, sending the opponent down to the mat again. Frank almost belly-to-belly suplexes Ozzy Benton through the mat. What? It's possible. Ozzy Benton gets knocked to the ground by Frank. Guillotine Choke!!! Ozzy Benton taps out! My Opinion: **1/4 rating for this one. Scott Keith may say that it's 'Perfectly Acceptable Wrestling', but not for me, buddy. Got to work harder to impress me. Tenay: Frank Shamrock just made Ozzy Benton submit! Coach: I’d say Ozzy’s quest for respect has taken a few steps back. Winners at 6:23: Frank Shamrock, Bubba Ray Dudley, and Johnny C. A Gracious Return Trish Stratus is sitting in her dressing room, when she hears a knock at the door. She opens it and Johnny Jeter comes in… with flowers! Trish: Hello, Johnny! These aren’t for me, are they? Jeter: Hehe, of course they are. I just wanted to thank you for the match on Sunday Night Heat last night. I’ve been away for a while, taking care of my own personal problems and all, and you made me feel really welcome and good to be back. Trish: Aww, it was my pleasure. Jeter: I also wanted to wish you good luck in your match with Victoria. Trish: (Smiling) Thank you, I feel good about my chances. (Stratus pats Jeter and the shoulder, and heads out). Tenay: Well, that was certainly a nice gesture by Johnny Jeter. Coach: Bah, who does this Johnny Jeter think he is? Bringing a beautiful woman like Trish Stratus flowers? That’s embarrassing for our gender. Tenay: How does having manners and being respectful to a lady embarrassing? Women’s Championship: Victoria © (with Stevie Richards) vs Trish Stratus Match Background: This match is for the WWF Womens title. Victoria has been WWF Womens champion since 25 September 2006. Hooks the leg for a two count. Death valley driver by Victoria! No one executes that move properly anymore. Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Big dropkick by Victoria, who got a ton of air on the move. Trish blocks the suplex attempt and is able to hit the suplex instead! Gutwrench into a powerbomb, aka the Doctor Bomb and Victoria hits hard. Covers for a quick two count. Powerbomb on Victoria. Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Trish Stratus with a spinning neckbreaker on Victoria. Trish Stratus connects with rights and lefts and Victoria is down! Victoria powers out of a Trish Stratus headlock. Rude Awakening neckbreaker on Trish Stratus by Victoria. Remember when that was a legit finish? Death valley driver by Victoria! No one executes that move properly anymore. Trish Stratus grabs Victoria from behind and shoves her into the ropes, then scores with a roll-up...but Victoria rolls through with the move! She is using the tights for leverage! 1....2...3! The referee didn't see it! My Opinion: They definitely need to hook up again, I don't care what anyone says. ***1\2 Tenay: Victoria had the ropes! Coach: Whatever, Stratus came up short, and that’s the bottom line. Trish is a bit confused, but before she can do anything, Richards decides to back her into the corner of the ring. Richards gets a sadistic smile and his face and forces a kiss on her! Victoria then pushes Richards out of the way… and slaps Stratus out of jealousy! At this point, Johnny Jeter comes running down the aisle and Victoria and Richards flee. Jeter checks on Trish. Winner at 5:59 and STILL Women’s Champion: Victoria After the commercial break, it’s time for… Johnny Jeter vs Stevie Richards Match Background: Jeter just attacked Richards for his assault on Trish Stratus. The Match: Jeter is a glutton for punishment and just continues to take it during this match. Spear by Stevie Richards. There's a two count on the pin. Stevie charges into the corner but EATS BOOT. Stevie Richards hits a bulldog off the ropes. Spinebuster by Stevie Richards. Johnny Jeter reverses a hip toss. The two competitors end up fighting to the outside of the ring. The referee tells them to bring it back in, but neither of them are listening. The ref tries again, and again they keep brawling. The referee completes a ten count, ending the match in a double count out! The fight has started up again! Johnny Jeter attacks Stevie, and they brawl all around ringside, then into the crowd! They eventually disappear backstage, still fighting. My Opinion: Well, hello there *1/4 rating, how are you? Coach: Jeter was out of control! Though I can’t say I’d suspect anything less from a former drug addict! Tenay: Don’t call him that! All we know is that Jeter was gone for a few months due to his personal problems, we have no idea what those problems were! No Contest at 3:11 In the back! Todd Grisham is standing by with Raven and CM Punk. Todd: Punk, tonight you are teaming up with Tommy Dreamer to face the team of Matt Hardy and Matt Stryker. How do you feel about this upcoming match. Punk: First off, it’s a tremendous honor to be teaming with a legend like Tommy Dreamer. Secondly, it’s going to be a pleasure getting into the ring with these two new-comers for the first time. They waltzed on over here from Smackdown thinking they were big-shots, well I say it’s time to put them in their place. Todd: Well, these two men aren’t to be taken lightly. Matt Hardy is a former WWF Champion. Raven: All the power to him, but this isn’t Smackdown. This is Raw, this is where the big boys come to play (Hardy and Stryker come in). Hardy: Excuse me? Apparently, you have never been in a Smackdown ring before?!? Smackdown is superior to this piece of crap show you call Raw, and we’re going to prove it to you tonight when you get your asses kicked by us. See you in the ring! Tommy Dreamer and CM Punk (with Raven) vs Mattitude 2.0 Match Background: Tommy Dreamer is the reigning WWF Intercontinental champion, and has been since 20 February 2006. The Match: Punk slams Matt Stryker down and motions to the crowd. Stryker walks into a side slam. Think about how much talent it takes to side slam someone. Nash can do it. Hooks the leg for a two count. Punk tags out to Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer \ Punk whip Stryker into the ropes and hit a double clothesline. Dreamer slams Matt Stryker down and motions to the crowd. Hooks the leg for a two count. Trying to channel the spirit of Misawa, Tommy Dreamer ends up chanelling Lex Luger instead and nails a running forearm to the face, minus the steel plate, of course. Dreamer charges into the corner but EATS BOOT. Diamond Dust from Matt Stryker, Dreamer is out! Stryker tags out to Matt Hardy Version 1.0. Stun Gun from Matt Hardy Version 1.0! I still can't believe that was Austin's finisher at one point. Dreamer walks into a jaw breaker. Dreamer counters a backdrop attempt with a kick to the face and hit a clothesline! Tag to CM Punk. Massive backbreaker on Hardy and I get happy flashbacks to Bret Hart's Five Moves of DOOM. Massive lariat! Stan Hansen would approve. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! I would have bought that as the finish! Hardy takes a back suplex. Punk drops an elbow...but Matt Hardy Version 1.0 moves out of the way. Doctor Bomb connects and Punk landed hard. Matt Hardy Version 1.0 gets whipped into the corner. Punk charges in, but into a pair of raised boots. Hardy uses a roll up, with feet on the second rope! The referee hasn't seen it: 1....2....3!! Punk \ Dreamer look like they aren't done...and they attack Mattitude 2.0! After an exchange of blows, Hardy and Stryker are laid out in the ring. My Opinion: I really shouldn't drink when I'm reviewing matches. Especially with Scotsman, I can't drink nearly as much, so I try too hard. It was either ** or ****, but I guess I'll have to compromise and say ***. Coach: Ha, looks like Hardy and Stryker just gave Dreamer and Punk some pieces of humble pie! Those sore losers layed out the righteous duo! Tenay: Can I point out that they cheated to do so! Winners at 7:02: Matt Hardy and Matt Stryker The GM is Here! Shawn Michaels dances his way to the ring, to a massive pop. He takes a microphone and gets to business. HBK: I don’t want to take too long, because we have a big main event to start shortly, but I have a few things I want to say. I know a lot of you are wondering who this “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson is, so I want to set the record. The Dragon, like Garrison Cade and Brian Kendrick, is a protégé of mine. I just signed him to a World Wrestling Federation contract, and I encouraged him to make a statement with his debut. To my delight, he has, all the while respecting my rule of no interfering in matches. I’d like to also announce that next week we shall see the in-ring debut of Bryan Danielson, right here on Raw! Next week, is going to be significant in other ways as well. Three men who have lost time due to Adam Hastey and Austin Lee’s baseball bat attacks will be returning! Which is why next week, in that very ring, we are going to see Adam Hastey and Austin Lee face the returning team of Shane Helms and Shannon Moore! That’s not it either, as there will be a special guest referee. He will be the one and only Al Snow! Coach: What?!? Al Snow is coming back!? Tenay: Well, Coach, it’s been nice working with you, but not that nice. This is great news! HBK: Lastly, I just want to commend the Raw superstars for following my rule of no outside interference tonight. Now if I could just get them to stop cheating or getting disqualified, I’d be even happier. Enjoy the main event, folks! Chris Benoit and Steve Corino vs Randy Orton and Lance Storm Match Background: Chris Benoit is the reigning World Heavyweight champion, and has been since 27 June 2006. Last week, Benoit retained his World title over Randy Orton. Storm and Corino were the final two competitors in a tournament last month to name a number one contender for the Unforgiven pay-per-view. The Match: Orton hits a right hand. Flying shoulder tackle by Orton sends Benoit CRASHING to the mat. Hooks the leg for a two count. Tag to Lance Storm. Orton \ Storm whip Benoit into the ropes and hit a double backdrop. There's a two count on the pin. Lance Storm snap suplexes Benoit HARD to the canvas! And again! A pair of clotheslines follow and...yep, Storm is a HOUSE...EN...FUEGO~! Benoit ducks a wild right hand. BRAINBUSTAH~! by Chris Benoit! There's a two count on the pin. Tag between Chris Benoit and Steve Corino. Storm walks into a side slam. Think about how much talent it takes to side slam someone. Nash can do it. Hooks the leg! ONE...TWO...NO! Running knee lift from Steve Corino. Lance Storm elbows Steve Corino in the face to break a hammerlock. Steve Corino takes a butterfly suplex from Storm. Storm tags out to Randy Orton. Randy Orton hits some punches. How generic. Corino tags out to Chris Benoit. Flying shoulder tackle by Orton sends Benoit CRASHING to the mat. Benoit holds Randy Orton in place. Steve Corino charges...but Orton ducks, andCorinoends up flooringBenoit! Randy Orton moves in for the kill. RKO!!! That shook the ring. 1....2....3!! Corino and Benoit remain in the ring. Chris Benoit does not look happy at losing. Steve Corino goes to leave, but gets pulled back in by Benoit. Tensions seem to be rising between these two. My Opinion: Good bout. In my estimation, it's about ***3/4. Tenay: Randy Orton picked up a win over Chris Benoit! This has to put Orton back into the title hunt! Coach: Forget that, look at Benoit and Corino! I don’t think I’ve seen either one look more pissed in ages! Corino then flips Benoit the bird, to which Benoit responds with by chopping Corino across the chest. Corino goes down and Benoit locks in the Crippler Crossface! Corino is down and out. Benoit stands back up and blows his nose onto the fallen Steve Corino. This prompts HBK to come back out. HBK: Bravo, bravo, great match, folks. I was just thinking, since Smackdown has their big No Mercy pay-per-view coming up soon, why don’t we have a big Raw next week ourselves? So next week, I say Chris Benoit puts his World Heavyweight Championship on the line in a FATAL Four-way match! It will be Chris Benoit vs Steve Corino vs Randy Orton vs Lance Storm! Tenay: My God! That’s going to be a classic! Coach: Yeah, well I’m going to be too busy trying to save my job against the returning Al Snow. Winners at 15:23: Randy Orton and Lance Storm

Sometimes it's fun to own crap. ...Like a movie fan owning "Glitter". Or watching the Survivor Series with the Gobbledy Gooker. You got that right, and I still say the GAB isn't the worst wrestling dvd I've ever had. In fact, the JBL/Eddie match was better than anything on any pay-per-view they put on this summer.
-
That 1/4* rating on the main event was very impressive (and surprising) . Funny stuff, look forward to more updates.
-
Hehe, believe me, I can't believe I bought it either. I guess having a Best Buy discount helps
-
ah, I really enjoyed the Regal match. The only match on the dvd I didn't like was the one with Sid.
-
But Prichard wanted to get rid of the CW division. But yes, Stephanie does indeed suck at writing.
-
Well, if Heyman was writing Smackdown, at least I'd have a feeling that he'd book Heidenreich in such a way to make him look good and hide his weaknesses (which to be honest, is just about everything). Otherwise... we've got another Nathan Jones on our hands.
-
They NEED Paul Heyman on creative on Smackdown! When he was writing Smackdown, Smackdown was GREAT! There hasn't been one single new break-out star on Smackdown since Heyman was demoted.

When did Vince McMahon lose touch with reality?
SamoaRowe replied to JN News's topic in The WWE Folder
Yeah, I agree for the most part. If you saw one Raw PPV this year, you saw them all. -

On a creative level, Smackdown is in the shits right now. There is no consistent character development, none of the mid-carders are receiving consistent pushes, in fact nothing is consistent at all! Smackdown is just one big mess! Raw had some good consistency going, but now with Orton as the champ and Benoit floating around, the consistency has been disturbed and Raw could go in either direction. It all depends on whether or not Orton can become a successful face champion and if his feud with Triple H turns out to be good or not. -
I'm guessing that John Cena will get the main event push in 2005 and win the belt (if JBL can win the belt, that Cena should).
-
Ugh, I hope the lower card guys got their money back once Hall and Hogan jumped ship.

Ugh, the Stephanie/Vince feud going into No Mercy 03 was one of my all-time most despised angles ever. The rest of that show was pretty solid, but that match made me sick. -
Yeah, after Benoit's one rematch against Randy Orton, he sort of seems content to fall back and wrestle Flair and Batista for the hell of it. Meanwhile Triple H is going on and on about how it's his belt and it's weird that someone not named Triple H is holding it. We've been hearing this from him for six months now. So, yes, I totally agree with Loss.

It's funny, I don't really hate the storyline where Mae Young gave birth to a hand, but if it happened now I'd be irate. I guess it's like what RD Reynolds was saying. When wrestling is hot, the booker can do no wrong, but when it's not the booker can do no right. -

I'd say Vince definitly lost his mind during the final broadcast of Nitro. After that, WWE peaked with Wrestlemania X7 and it's been nothing but downhill ever since. -
Yeah, it seems like the only wrestler on Raw who ever really wants the World title is Triple H and whoever is either defending it against him or challenging him for it.

Is JBL still the worst WWE Champion ever?
SamoaRowe replied to SamoaRowe's topic in General Wrestling
I just watched the Texas Bullrope match between JBL and Guerrero for the first time last night (yes, I bought the Great AMerican Bash dvd, sue me) and I must say it was a rather tremendous match-up. It actually made me more upset to see JBL win it too because of how over Guerrero was with the crowd. I honestly think if WWE had let Guerrero win that night, he would have been more over than ever and he would have been a much bigger draw over the summer than he was over the spring. -
The Benoit dvd. Hands down. It made me excited to be a wrestling fan again. That's something the Flair dvd didn't do. But nothing against the Flair dvd, which I also enjoyed quite a bit.

The problem with promoting the IC title to a World title status would be the high number of current jobbers who have held the belt in the past. New fans would see how the belt would be portrayed, then go look at profiles on WWE.com and go "Huh, that Billy Gunn guy who I see on Velocity was IC Champ? In what universe?!?"
-
Even though the World title had a crappy introduction on Raw, the WWE championship currently held by Bradshaw on Smackdown didn't start off all that gloriously either. Buddy Rogers won the belt in a tournament in South America (I think, I don't exactly remember) that may or may not have actually happened. If the World title is still around in forty years, will it really matter that Triple H was just handed the belt one night? Also, the WWE Championship will always be the belt I care for more. It has such a great lineage behind it, that it's more prestigious than the Raw version. I wish Chris Benoit had won the WWE Championship instead of the World Championship.

The mental image of J.R. and King sitting around speculating over some mystery booker named "Plague" just amuses me waaay too much And how the hell did Cena vs Bubba Ray get ***3/4?
