Ortiz vs. Shamrock still on??
Masked Man of Mystery replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
The reason I proposed that idea is because Ken is just too beaten up and hurt, I think, to really have a great fight, and well, Tito is arrogant to no end, and he can do pro wrestling style crazy stuff like he did at 51, and I just don't see him as a really great fighter, unless he's really gotten his groove back since then, and if so, I take it back, but I'm behind on my UFC. I think the tag match idea would work, and it'd be a really nice thing for a special, or perhaps a mixed show -

Ortiz vs. Shamrock still on??

I still say they should have this match in TNA, these two are born pro wrestlers, well, Shamrock was a better pro wrestler than he is an MMA fighter now, and it'll be less wear and tear, and Tito can cut a promo, and this would make a great cross promotion. Does Florida allow MMA? -
STAR TREK 11 to be written by JJ Abrams
Masked Man of Mystery replied to SuperJerk's topic in Television & Film
The Excelsior would be awesome, but I'm not sure if they'd be too afraid of backlash since Takei came out. I know Star Trek is generally a liberal show, but we know that anti gay forces can be rallied at a moment's notice -
Here's a quick top 5 series, in no particular order, of course Azumanga Daioh Excel Saga Martian Sucessor Nadesico Gundam Wing Noir I'm realizing I haven't seen that many complete serieses, but I have 3 sitting here waiting to be watched, so I plan on having a fun summer between them, games, and Netflix
-
They're something like that, the two biggest screwups on the force
-
You mean Dirty Pair Flash? It's a fun show, although I only really enjoyed the first story
-
I'd have to say I like the fact that Opie and Anthony end at 9 because I can switch right over to Air America to catch Stephanie Miller, the most entertaining liberal show I've found(and not an official part of AA, oddly, so not everyone gets her)

Nice to know other people around here sometimes read regular old fashioned fun fiction, or I assume Da Vinci was meant to be fun, I haven't touched it. I'm ever so slowly making my way through the Pillars of Creation by Terry Goodkind, a fantasy book

Comments that don't warrant a thread
Masked Man of Mystery replied to {''({o..o})''}'s topic in Video Games
I hope to God they go back to Revolution, Wii is awful, and I'm guessing a lot of people will laugh it off, unfortunately -
Adam 12 and Hardy are both good, I do like them, but I'm more a talk show type.

Would there be an issue with streaming music and having to pay fees and such? I know of a bunch of free music sites you can use if that's the case
-
I personally look at it as a convinience issue, so I plan on continuing making the shows

Movies that everyone loves that you cannot get the love for
Masked Man of Mystery posted a topic in Television & Film
The movie that immediately comes to mind for me is Scarface. I cannot see what people see in Tony Montana, he's a total jerk from beginning to end, and the way hip hop culture adores him baffles me. He died. He lost everything in the name of greed and then got blown to shreds. I just don't get it. Casablanca also bewilders me, but admittedly I think I need to watch it once or twice more. Pulp Fiction, well, it has a lot of cool scenes and such, but the whole thing just lacks a story to put it together, which may be intentional, but I just can't work through that. I like Kill Bill far more. Anther Tarantino film that baffles me for its popularity is Resovoir Dogs. The acting is okay at best, and the whole thing just screams "LOW BUDGET!" in a way something like El Mariachi never did, even though it doesn't look as nice on DVD. -
Honestly, I don't know what direction their show is going to take. While in Atlanta, Toucher's show was your typical morning show, with the talk show layout and a couple of songs played an hour. I've heard the Toucher & Rich show could be in that same mold, or that it could be straight talk show like O&A. Plus, as far as I know, the show isn't going into syndication just yet, so it's home will be just on WBCN for now. So, if I had to guess, I would say it will likely be the talk format, with songs intermingled. And if it takes off, CBS will probably start syndicating it to other stations and do away with the songs. All right, I can dig that, although WBCN tends to do more music after their morning slot, I don't have a problem with that

Another funny parody show is Martian Sucessor Nadesico. It gets too serious for it's own good at the end, but is well worth checking out sometime. Can I also get an opinion on Gundam Wing from you folks? It was really big when I was watching thr fansubs, mostly because it was on Toonami, I think, but then there was a massive backlash against it among my friends. I like it, I haven't seen quite all of it, but it's probably my favorite non parody mecha show.

That's not the issue at hand though. The issue is celebrating the highest quality music, be it metal, rock, country, rap, pop etc. I have no problem giving an objective ear to anything, but if it's garbage, then it's garbage. It's not a matter of personal taste (I listen to and enjoy much undeniably "lousy" music out of nostalgic enjoyment for example) it's a matter of the actual quality of music. This counts double when people are sharing it with others. As for the other guys, I don't think i can say anything else without just asking you guys to re-read what i've written again and try to see what I'm saying. At this point anything else is just repeating myself. All right, now that I can agree with, but we're getting off topic(and it's my fault) so I'll shut up now

Y'know why they changed Excel's English actress? She hurt her vocal cords doing Excel, the doctor didn't want her continuing for fear of seriously messing her throat up. Besides, the Japanese actress is very good and for you Sailor Moon fans, she was the voice actress for Sailor Moon as well(as evidenced by the wonderful 10 second or so parody in Excel Saga)

Azumanga Daioh rules all. I think the first anime I saw was either the heavily edited DBZ or Ronin Warriors, but the first anime series I got hooked on that I knew was anime was Gundam Wing
-
Is this fellow a DJ, or another talk show host?
-
Nope, no Bleach for me, I got out of the fan sub scene. And as for Dragon Half....yes, I need to Netflix that sucker. In a similar vein, how do you feel about Slayers?
-
The manga's okay, but it strikes me as DBZ with ninjas, which is fine, I like DBZ to an extent, but the overhype it's getting is a tad silly. Did Bleach get a US video release yet?

They're better than David Lee Roth, but they need to start doing more to keep my attention, semi entertaining banter isn't going to keep me listening, at least. I'll give them a pass until Anthony's better, though.

Excel Saga is excellant, although the last episode and Puni Puni Poemy, it's sorta sequel OAV go for gross instead of funny. Love Hina is good, but the OAVs past the Christmas special are so concerned with NOT advancing the story that they loose a lot. I've never seen Champaloo. If anyone is interested, Best Buy(or at least the one I work at) has the complete Record of Lodoss War Chronicles of the Heoric Knight for $17. I've only begun watching it, but I enjoyed the old OAVs and it got good reviews as I recall. Anyone else here like Project A-Ko or Urusei Yatsura?

Well, for example I can't understand what they're saying in the black metal I've listened to, and just because you enjoy it doesn't mean everything else is suck(although there is undeniably sucky music). That's my issue with elitists. I try hard to be open to most things
