I SO wish Rock was on Smackdown. I used to hate his TV work, but he;d help Smackdown so much just with his aura and crediblity in the main event.

Masked Man of Mystery replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Well, rings are almost certainly more plentiful to train in, but for some reason in the US they fight in cages and in Japan they fight in rings(at least, I've never seen US MMA in a boxing ring) -

Masked Man of Mystery replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
UFC's always struck me(pun intended) as more of the striker's MMA company anyhow, so if he's like what I saw in King of the Cage, he'll do okay. Is he still working with Bas? -
The Eagles had some nice openers: Take It Easy on their self titled album Doolin' Dalton on Desperado Hotel California on the album of the same name also, my first They Might Be Giants CD was Severe Tire Damage, and they had me hooked with Doctor Worm.

It's not really the lack of quality wrestling
Masked Man of Mystery replied to NoCalMike's topic in The WWE Folder
I think its a combination of things, at least for me. I like cruiser and tech wretsling, and I hate non hardcore brawling with a passion. I only get Smackdown. What do I get? Short, short cruiser matches with the majority of the time taken by JBL and Cena. RVD and Mysterio don't get to do their thing much when they fight folks like the Bashams. WWE needs to follow Heyman's style of booking, even if they don't use him. Keep the cruisers moving, bring back the hardcore division to help the limitations of guys like Cena, etc. They've done some good keeping Dupree and Kenzo mostly in the tag scene for a while, but otherwise WWE is screwing this up big time. Throw Angle against Hass again or try him and Puder, see what he can do. WWE has so much talent and they are squandering it right now. That's just on the wrestling side. The angles feel silly(The Angle/Joy nonsense) and really need more time and resources tha should be used on a wrestlign show. Build it up on simple feuds. Heidenreich/Taker is on the right path here, even if they aren't any good in the ring, it's really just a simple revenge plot. Angle/Show/JBl could be built on Angle wanti9ng to return cred to the belt(and who better than a gold medalist? Insert your own Kanyon joke here) and either Show wants to stop Angle, or have JBL lariat Joy(or Amy, or whoever his girlfriend is, I can't keep 'em straight). I hope I made some sense here. -
The main problem with these shirts is putting the name on it(other than the Regal one, which I just plain dislike). The shirt should be cool enough that non wrestling fans would think its cool, while those who do watch wrestling would recognise the thing and say cool another fan. I'd buy the Angle shirt if they didn't throw the picture on the back, it just looks wrong, man.

could someone just clarify what exactly the angle was? The DVD talks about it, but is there beyond Raven brainwashing Sandman's son? Also, how was it resolved?

Raven vs Sandman
Masked Man of Mystery replied to Masked Man of Mystery's topic in General Wrestling
Then his daughter turned on him(Sandman) in XPW, right? Ya woulda thought he might've learned the first time to keep his family away from wrestling rings [/mark] -
I am biased toward cruiserweights in general, I just like the style. I am also/especially biased toward: Chris Benoit: somehow, even though it never came into his gimmick, somehow he seems like the common man who trained his BUTT off to become a wrestler, and a darn good one at that. Tommy Dreamer has the same vibe going, although obviously he isn't as good a wrestler. Ultimo Dragon: I LOVE his WWF entrance with all the fire. He also has an awesome costume and the man is just plain skilled and athletic. Rob Vab Dam: I like how he's usually laid back(even if its because he's high) and his has a neat moveset. Especially the kicks since I'm a Kung Fu movie nut, plus he sells the frog splash, which is just neat. Rico: Rico was almost the sole reason I watched Smackdown for a while, because his matches were so much fun. See also Guerrero, Eddie AJ Styles: Whenever that man comes out, you see a good match. It's like impossible for that not to happen or something. He could get a good match out of Kevin Nash with his leg injury, pratically Eh, I'll do more later.

Can't forget about "cum-guzzling gutter slut." Maybe it's just me, but I think that's worse than calling someone a bitch. That was on cable. This was on broadcast TV. Heck, they even censored slut this week!
-
Two things: 1. The WWE is the biggest wuss and the most inconsistant company on the planet. The censor something one week then don't the next or vice versa ie Cena's hat and when Sable used the B word on national television and it got bleeped when it first aired, then they didn't bleep it when they recapped the event, and of course the constant blur(which should only be overseas if I understand the agreement, and for the love of God, on videos they should be able to show the logo because its archival footage or at least say it) 2: Would it kill them to get Funaki a real pair of trunks? How is he supposed to be credible as a champion when he essentially looks like he can't afford wrestling tights? He had a singlet during his Kai En Tai days, I don't know why he doesn't bust that out.

If Silva goes anywhere he'll go to UFC to fight Coultre. I wonder why UFC is dropping a whole weight division though. -
AJ Styles DVD Being Released Nationwide
Masked Man of Mystery replied to Phoenix Fury Legdrop's topic in TNA Wrestling
But they still aren't releasing the TNA DVDs nationwide, correct? -
I'd hope if we met you wouldn't call me a jerk. Most of the anime fans I know are pretty decent folks, but then, I'm an insider, so what do I know?

Tell me I didn't see that....
Masked Man of Mystery replied to Precious Roy's topic in TNA Wrestling
Oh, certainly, when I saw it I was like OH MY GOD, they actuallu had the balls/stupidity to sign Ultimzate Warrior -
And as for those who said Raw got Heat level talent, all of those people were playing major parts inn angles or just coming off them. Rhyno and Train had been constant thorns in Benoit's side and coulda made a good tag team to add to the pot we have now. Tajiri was doing his Yakuza gimmiick(I think), and of course, Shelton is mucho talented. It's just that they got stuck in the shuffle. Oh, and I forgot Chuck....eh, he was decent in the FBI(or was he fired, I don't remember)

Averagest wrestlers of all time?
Masked Man of Mystery replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
The WWE is full of average guys. They do have some royal stinkers(like John Heidenreich) but most of them can put together a decent match. The problem is there are so many average wrestlers that we start calling them sucky. People like Orton fall into this category. -

Masked Man of Mystery replied to Precious Roy's topic in TNA Wrestling
It can't be any worse than if they bhad signed the Ultimate Warrior. THAT would have single handedly killed TNA ON THE SPOT. The feed would just die, and there would be a message on the scrren saying that the wrestling promotion you were just watching has filed for bankruptcy. I know they're screwed as it is, but this would sped it up that mucgh. -
The problem with the draft was that RAW was loaded with big names, and Smackdown had...Kurt Angle. Eddie and all them were on the rise, but Angle was their only established superstar. As much as I like Booker T's wrestling and I love his intro, I would MUCH rather have HHH competing for the WWE title than having Booker and the Dudley Boyz(that was the trade, right?)

Admittedly, I don't watch sports like I used to, but it seems to me that many, at least in America, sports teams have dreadfully BORING jerseys. Even teams like the Atlanta Hawks that had cool jerseys a few years ago have gone to wearing the ultra generic team name and number jerseys. This is happening in just about every major sport here. In hockey they sometimes throw the logo on the front, but otherwise, it's usually hardly there or in football on the shoulders. It just seems uninspired. I remember when the Hawks and the Raptors had their logos on the front of their jerseys and it looked pretty cool. It's better than having ads on your jersey but not by much. I'm from New England myself and we have some of the worst offenders here. I HATE the red Red Sox jersey. Thoughts? Opinions?

Okay, I am, by my own admission, not the most religous person in the world. PArt of the problem is that the higher ups in the Catholic hierarchy closed my church. I loved that little church. It was pretty plain, with stained glass windows andall that, but ntohing too fancy. I've been to a couple other churches in my area and while they're very nice, they seem too fancy(dramatic paintings and really high ceilings with even more art work). FOr those who actually think about this, what do you think a church should look like(or another religous building?)

I have an entrance theme on my computer that claims it is Bas Rutten's theme from New Japan. What exactly did he do there? Was he one of the worked shoot fight guys for Inoki?
-
Even a simple things like putting the shamrock on the I of the Celtics jersey. Just little things to make your jersey stand out and not look vanilla and mass produced.
-
That's differant, i'm referring to the red jerseys they started wearing this year. I'm more talking about how teams get a cool logo like the Toronto Raptos, stick it on their jerseys, and now they just wear plain ones that says Raptors. Or how the stripe the Denver Broncos started using looked revolutionary on a football uniform. A STRIPE! Mainly I'd like to see team logos/names integrated better. For example, the Bengals could have a jersey that was all tiger stripes with white numbers or something. I hope I'm making sense.

Bas Rutten in New Japan
Masked Man of Mystery replied to Masked Man of Mystery's topic in General Wrestling
By the way, I assume this was fairly recent, given the other names you mentioned. I assume the match was pretty awful, given that Bas isn't a trained wrestler and if this is recent he's pretty broken down. I know he keeps trying to come back to MMA but can't seem to.
