    Solving Marker Lateness: The Thread

Oh, that's true. But it can make things a bit problematic when we lose a whole day on match-writing. I know for me there is sometime only one evening in the week that I can get a really good crack at, and if that evening occurs the day after the show is meant to have gone up and the card isn't there, I have to rush. Presumably this applies to other people as well. One of the reasons I used to be so frustrated when Thoth was so late at putting the card up was that he would post Storm on a friday and Saturday is often one of my major match-writing days, and without the card up I basically had a whole day that I could have been writing, and have to rush it from then on when normally I would have been doing other things. These sentence might not make much sense as I am currently watching a documentary on the decreasing amount of sunlight reaching the planet. As for a solution... dunno. Although like others have said, maybe moving Storm to the Saturday could lessen the 'drunk bastard' phenomenon.
  2. Fuck it, I'D like to see Toxxic vs Mak Francis!

    SWF Storm Card, 1-14-05!

Well, it does mean that those of us with weekday jobs get both saturdya and sunday to write for Lockdown. But i've always been confused why Storm, which is supposedly the flagship show, has one day less to write for than the other two shows, meaning that things tend to be more rushed.
  4. What's with the 'one-off, one-on' booking Toxxic's been getting lately? Still, looks like a fun card and here's to Spike taking out Johnny and Clark while Davis RIPS Landon's other belt off him. Heh.

    SWF Storm Card, 1-14-05!

If this means that you give Manson the match through being drunk, expect me to go militant straight-edge on your arse.

Women of Wrestling. When you're as cool as Muzz, you have several divas on tap.

    SWF Storm Card, 1-14-05!

It probably won't. This is probably Mike's 'New Order', so Smarkdown will be Pure Wrestling-themed, Storm will be This-themed and Lockdown will be something-else-themed, and after this cycle everything will be in place. Or a gun.
  8. Landon, this is the Pure Wrestling show. As such, spot-mokeys like you and I have no place.

    SWF Storm Card, 1-14-05!

And Sean? Is there a match on this card I don't know about? No. But you rock at squashing people in 500 words or less, so I'm sure there could be. Spike does it well too.

    SWF Storm Card, 1-14-05!

Manson. I'm very sorry you had to encounter Toxxic just after he lost two matches on the bounce. AND GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SACRED!! (and Sean)
  11. Forget Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth; here is the true Match Made In Heaven. But seriously, this is so glutinous that it's actually very entertaining.

    PROMO: Insecurity Killed The Cat

I'd like everyone to bear in mind, when you read Smarkdown, that I wrote the promo with me and Sacred BEFORE I read Landon's promo. Damn Landon, you must be psychic or something. Or a gun. (votes for 'or a gun' to become the new random SWF comment) But seriously. A good and VERY insightful promo. But I wonder... is it true then, that Martial Law exists only to take down Revolution Zero...

Dace and Mak reminded me in chat that Flesher is booking a more 'pure wrestling' show. I told them that I therefore looked forward to having every Flesher show off. It's working so far! -being an annoying spot-monkey since Feb '04

    Promo-The bar

Not as good as 'Build a Bear'. Interesting dynamic on Carnage's character, but I'm waiting to see where this will go in relation to his in-ring action.

    Promo- "Oh Come On!"

WHy is the SWF's head referee being Dagda's bitch?
  16. I know I will have made it when Tom mentions me in one of these. I love 'em though, they just have that ring of reality. Nice one Taamo.

But look at the other matches Toxxic's been in that he's won. The reason is wins is not either because he's a badass tough guy, or because he cheats - the reason he wins is he's a) smart, and knows enough about his opponents to work a strategy, and b) is quick and agile enough to avoid a lot of the opponent's offence. Now obviously, against Speed 10 Wildchild he'll be avoiding a lot less... but you don't hit very hard, either. In a singles match between us Toxxic would fall back on his reasonable brawling ability to soften you up for a head drop. Against Johnny Toxxic would lose out on the striking element since Johnny knows martial arts, but not by all that much and he would be able to use his speed advantage. And if you can't write a match against a face without making him look weak, doesn't that say more about you as a writer than Toxxic's character?

Don't you think that's a little bit simplistic? In my eyes, cheating is not what makes you a heel - otherwise Landon would still be heel. Being is a heel is due to the majority of the crowd not liking you, and THAT'S why Toxxic's a heel. People hate him because yes, he's stuck up, but also because he has one-by-one faced, beaten and in some cases retired several crowd favourites. And then bragged about it. Personally I don't understand the problem - how would you write a winning match against a non-cheating face without making them look weak? Or conversely, how does Landon write a match as a cheating face without making himself look weak? Think of it this way; when facing Toxxic, you can either write him as wrestling clean and beat him. Or you can (going against my wishes) write him as cheating... and still beat him. In one scenario he stuck to the rules and got beat, in the other he broke the rules and still couldn't win. Which one makes him look weaker?

Definitely congratulations to everyone. Landon did a great opening promo. Sacred wrote a BRILLIANT match which excellently captured the tension of the clock running down (and I liked the brief reappearance of COmet and Riley). Congrats to Clark and Cortez, and Manson's EWR 'match' had me in hysterics. That's some funny shit right there. Johnny and WIldchild - good match. I am upset about one small thing; Toxxic choking someone with the tag rope. He doesn't do it, because he DOESN'T cheat. The only thing he'll do is go to the eyes if he's in REAL trouble - that sort of prick heel cheating isn't what he's about. Nonetheless, congratulations on becoming three-time Tag Champions... and when's our rematch, bitches? Now I need to work out what's going down between Toxxic and your NEW Number One Contender, Sacred.
  20. Nah, I'm getting depushed too much to be Triple H anymore. Maybe I'm Angle and Davis is Reigns... Nice promo Sarah, and this of course takes on a MUCH different perspective now.

Congrats to Wild and Dangerous. Sarah failed to turn in anything for me by tuesday evening so I went it alone, but to be fair I was finished with time to spare so I don't have much of an excuse. And now another bit of history has been made - Toxxic has lost twice in a row. Guess I'm more burned out than I thought. I'll read the rest of the show soon, but for now I'm probably going to sleep.

    SWF Smarkdown Card, 1/10/05!

This sucks. How can you have the commentators talk about what's gone on already (even with veiled, we-don't-know-who-won stuff) if WE don't know what's gone on? And I really liked those match descriptions. And so if I'm not on either list, do I assume I don't have a match?
  23. ...Dude, that's wrong on SO many levels. Although what is quite amusing is that the big, fat bass player of Cradle of Filth used to walk around Ipswich wearing a 'no-one knows I'm a lesbian' T-shirt.
  24. You think Clark's lost his mind? You should see the shit I'M gonna pull in the summer. And yes, I do have a storyline planned out 6 months in advance. Problem?

    Promo - "Forgive........" (Part 1 of 2)

Oh God. Alan Clark's Ninth Personality is about to come out to play. My prediction for this one is a Bruce Springsteen-loving Fisherman.
