For WC's benefit: "Mate" - term used primarily by Australian and British males as a substitute for the word "friend". Can be used in reference to females with whom the speaker does not have romantic involvement, but is generally used in association with other males (without romantic involvement). Generally used genially ("alright mate, how're you doing?") but can also be used aggressively ("listen mate, I'm gonna kick your fucking teeth in if you don't shut it"). Hope this helps.

Even though I have only vague notions of the whole storied history between Terrence and Crow - that promo rocked. A lot. REALLY good interplay, and everyone knows I dig Terrence's MPD thing anyway. It's always good to be put over in a completely unrelated promo as well... ...of course, it sounds like that if Crow returns there's gonna be ANOTHER person trying to kick my backside. But then I am a heel, so I think that's a good thing. Isn't it? *starts playing Stone Roses' 'I Wanna Be Adored'* *realises it's a shit song and trashes the stereo*

The Scene: The Continental Airlines Arena, a few hours before Smarkdown A door opens in the back of the Continental Airlines Arena and a stocky figure steps through, brown hair hanging down to his shoulders. “Deathwish” Danny Williams is dressed conservatively. One of the SWF tech crew says hi as he passes and Danny acknowledges him, but overall the Louisville Elbower seems intent on keeping a low profile as he makes his way through the corridors until he reaches a door on which there is a name-plate reading: DANNY WILLIAMS Williams looks at the two words for a moment, then smiles and pushes the door open... only to come to a halt in surprise as he takes in the balloons and streamers festooning the room, and the big banner reading “Welcome Back” hanging from the ceiling. The smile on Williams’ face widens... “Dace, you shouldn’t have...” the former World Champion murmurs, swinging his bag off his shoulder and setting it down on the floor. He turns around to close the door - and comes face to face with a mocking, lopsided smile sitting smugly below spiky back hair and above a T-shirt bearing the words “Hardcore Punk”. “Like the decorations?” Toxxic asks, conspicuously adjusting the title belt on each shoulder. “I put them up myself.” “Who the hell are you?” Danny fires back, although he already knows. “Me?” Toxxic asks innocently. “I’m just the guy who’s been tearing up the Fed in the two months since you buggered off. I’m the guy who beat Aecas for this,” he taps the Hardcore Gamer’s belt over his right shoulder, “beat Dace to retain this,” he taps the ICTV belt over his right shoulder and the smile disappears, “and later tonight I’m going to be one half of the team that’s kicking your arse, roid-monkey!” Danny’s eyes narrow and his fists clench, but after a second he smiles - humourlessly - at the rookie standing in the doorway. “Now you listen. The moment you win the SWF World Title, you can come knocking on my door and call yourself a big shot. Until then - I’ll see you in the ring tonight where Horrorcore and I will give you a lesson in what it REALLY means to be a wrestler.” “Danny,” Toxxic says, handing over a very large envelope, “prepare to be proved wrong.” Danny Williams slams the door shut in the face of the arrogant newcomer and stares around the dressing room for a few moments before opening the giant envelope. Reaching inside he pulls out a HUGE card. The front is a blown-up image from an old cover of SWF Magazine featuring Danny Williams getting dropped on his head by Va’aiga at the Clusterfuck, just prior to losing the World Heavyweight Title. Knuckles white, Danny opens the card and reads the words inside: “Same Again?”

Ann “Ichiban” Onita vs. Insane Luchadore! ~Annie. Edward James vs. Blanka! ~Please, Eddy? ”Deathwish” Danny Williams and Dace Night vs. Toxxic and Jimmy “The Demon” Liston! ~It's gonna take a miracle. ”The Superior One” Tom Flesher vs. Stryke! ~Taamo OMGZ MULTIMAN MAIN EVENTZ~! Todd Royal, “The Notorious” John Duran, and Landon "La Cucaracha" Maddix vs. Charlie “Grappler” Matthews, “Coyote” Coy West, and Alan Clark ~I reckon the Unnamed take it.

OK, show comments: Good promo from Wildchild about the prestige of the Cruiserweight Belt - but what the fuck was going on with MVS when he hasn't shown for months? ...and then goes on to no-show. Nice. NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!!! Big up to the Trinity Massif, that was an excellent match and i'm looking forward to the time when the fact that Terrence only seems to do well when Janus is around is focused on. Flesher vs Annie - My word, that Tom Flesher eh? Turning more and more heel, hitting ladies (even damn violent ones)... what a cad. Not all that hardcore, but I enjoyed it. Stryke's the new USJL Champ! Not something I was expecting as Coy's been on a real roll lately, but it shakes things up a bit more doesn't it? Liked the match, although I'm not sure how a Slingshot Suplex, even delievered by Coy, can be seen to be more damaging than a top-of-the-cage superplex... Duran vs Royal - EASILY the best match of the night. Having not one but BOTH wrestlers wind up the Philly fans by refusing to go hardcore was great: Love it. Clark... sorry, Bloodshed vs Dace. Well, I'm astounded that Clark got the win in a hardcore environment, particularly with his no-selling of walking with bare feet on fucking glass... still, it was pretty well-worked and had a nice interplay of me and IL coming down and causing havoc. Main Event: I know Grappler was writing it, but he made Landon looks like a million bucks. Great match that probably actually deserved to be at the end of the show rather than my slightly lack-lustre hardcore ramblings.

The HOLT Report on SWF Lockdown...

The fucking Eel got more heat than me? I'm a very pissed-off rookie... On the other hand, I was the one who wrote him to Stunner us both. -
SWF Smarkdown! April Fifth!
Toxxic replied to 5_moves_of_doom's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
Dace, we both know that if I lose this match I'm going to be placing the blame firmly on my partner's shoulders, as any good self-respecting heel should. *hands over jaw* So does this mean that the Unholy Trinity now has four members? -
The thing I don't like about the "don't watch it" argument is - well, what am i supposed to watch? I like watching wrestling, and WWE is the only wrestling I have regular access to. We don't get TNA over here. The wrestling channel isn't on ntl yet. I don't have the disposable income to buy Puro tapes regularly off the net. Most of the wrestlers I like are in the WWE, even if I don't like the way some of them are being used. So it makes sense for me to watch, and if i don't like what I see, i'm going to complain about it. Do I think it'll make any real difference? No. Will it make me feel better and encourage me with the fact that there are many others who agree with me? Yes. The WWE IS capable of entertaining me. The Rumble did that. The world title matches at Wrestlemania did that. I just wish they'd do it a bit more often.

Yeah. I was looking at the actual post, not the thread title *smacks head*. I've got no problem with you not having sympathy for me, cos on this occasion I don't deserve any, but don't call me illiterate, 'kay? Mortgage stuff is done for tonight. So IL, you haven't won this yet... *types*

Please note all: Taamo thinks I'm adorable.

I'm guessing that was directed at me... basically i still don't feel comfortable with commenting on other people's matches, since I haven't been here two months yet. I still generally look at a match and see a match - unless it's involving my character I don't really see the other parts. I'm not too hot on the individual points like sustained selling and transitions and stuff, as this thread has proved, and I still don't know any character except my own well enough to know what they would and wouldn't do... so basically - give me a bit of time to really find my feet with regards to others and I'll join in.

TOMORROW! FUCK! OK, I'm almost certainly no-showing then. There's no date on the top of the card, and i hadn't checked the listings so I thought it was for friday for some reason. There's no way i can do 6000 words by tomorrow. Jesus. The best stip I've had yet and I'm screwed. It doens't help that I'm trying up moving house this week.

The SWF Storm HOLT Report...
Toxxic replied to King Cucaracha's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
Nice one Maddix! I always liked these and I'm glad someone's doing them, even if they're not "originals". -
Shite, i don't like this being in the main event. People actually pay attention to your matches... Anyway, in defence of my arm work - at the end I was trying to put over not only how strong Dace is, but also how deadly the often-shrugged-off German suplex is in his hands. A second German WOULD have beaten Toxxic, and Dace would not have done a release one on me because he would have seen Toxxic flip out of them too many times. So he tried for one that bridged into the pin - but because his right arm had been weakened, he couldn't hold it and Toxic flipped out anyway. Maybe I never mentioned that in the match text, I know I meant to. I'm aware that I need to work on selling and transition, but I felt I wanted to defend that bit. Incidently - who wrote the promo with me and Janus? Cos it didn't read like Dace's work.

I can't believe I won. How's that? Oh - Landon rocks!

I love my match. ANYONE WISHING TO USE US AS A CAMEO: In order not to have a ref counting the falls for us and then mysteriously turning up in another match as well, our special guest referee will be: THE MEMPHIS EEL Note: Eel will be scared of pyscho boy Rickmen, so he'll call it straight despite his heel leanings. This card is gonna be bloody. But i love it.

Not even the Weedwhacker will save you from me, my friend. And after me, you'll have to worry about Dace...

6. Dynamite Chris Schett (& Holly). Heel Benoit influenced, mabe a touch more flying. Very Japanese Jr Heavyweight fare. 12. "La Sensation Senegalaise" Said. Senegalese-French ghetto gangsta type. The exact opposite of what you'd expect a french wrestler to be like, ever. I'd have gone with the woman just so Annie doesn't look quite so out of place - if she didn't have the worst. name. EVER.

Lockdown Predictions! Now with 33% more blood!
Toxxic replied to The Ill One's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
MAIN EVENT WORLD TITLE MATCH Charlie "Grappler" Matthews vs Landon "La Cucaracha" Maddix ~Grappler. Just. I like Maddix. WINDOW PAIN MATCH Dace Night vs Alan Clark ~Dace IS beatable. But in this environment, Clark hasn't got a fucking hope. SINGLES MATCH "The Notorious" John Duran vs Todd Royal ~Duran. USJL TITLE MATCH CAGE MATCH "Coyote" Coy West vs Stryke ~Stryke last left JUST before I joined, so I haven't seen his work. But i know Coy kick arse, so i'll go with the mullet. SINGLES MATCH "The Superior One" Tom Flesher vs Ann "Ichiban" Onita ~Taamo. TAG TEAM TITLES Wild & Dangerous vs Aecas and Janus ~Difficult to see anyone dethroning W&D. SINGLES MATCH Edward James vs Mike Van Siclen ~If James writes, he wins. That simple. HARDCORE TITLE MATCH PHILADELPHIA STREET FIGHT, THROUGH-THE-SHOW BRAWL Toxxic vs Insane Luchadore ~I FUCKING LOVE THIS MATCH! Even if I don't win, I'm going to have an absolutel blast. -
"Never" in this case being about six weeks...?
-
Yeah, but to give Goldberg credit he didn't waste any time retrying it - he just got out and legged it. And JR did a brilliant cover in his one and only good bit of work for the last three years or so by suggesting that Rock had sabotaged Goldberg's car to make sure he could get away. Surprisingly quick thinking from a senile hoss-lover.

^ What he said. Anyone who initiates violence had better be prepared for retaliation. It doesn't matter how much smaller you are - if you're that small, you shouldn't be starting on someone that much bigger than you. It doesn't - correction, SHOULDN'T - matter what gender you are, and what gender the person you're hitting it. This first person to strike is in the wrong.
-
Yes - i'd forgotten that one. Mania XIX featured two mark-out moments for me: Piper running in with NO warning, and Brock's Shooting Star Press. I'd been waiting for eight months for him to do it, ever since I'd heard he used to use it in OVW. i thought he'd break it out against Rock - and I was wrong. I was silently screaming at my TV when he went up top last year (I was watching this at 4am, so my housemates wouldn't have been pleased if I was ACTUALLY screaming). I don't care if he missed it - the only time I've marked out as hard since was Benoit making HHH tap. Although - That first moment when the LoD's music hit to take on RVD and Kane was awesome. Yeah the match sucked, but those first few seconds... priceless.
-
Number two and three I can understand, but I think you're just being a little dick about the first one. I'd assume that first one is so if he for some reason gets busted and they test him and his companions, no one shows up as drugged and they get in more shit. Or something. *shrug* Nah - it's cos I refuse to associate with people who are on drugs. I do know some people who do weed and stuff, but the moment they start smoking it, I leave. I work with drug addicts now. I don't want to get involved with it in my social life too.
-
Yeah... but you haven't gone against me yet... Remember, you're nobody in this fed until you beat 'Crash Holly.' Why do you think I posted this before I face Dace? I'm sure he'll pin me - or possibly make me tap. I haven't faced true main-event competition one-on-one yet. Saying that, Dub-Cee, I'm thinking you'll probably be busy until your departure - but if you're not, feel free to bring it.
