Nah, if anything Morgan will help Joe win in a bid to do the 'right thing' for TNA and keep in Cornette's good books by guaranteeing they don't lose Joe. I don't want to see it, but...
-
But what does Danielson offer to the WWE? You might get a decent match out of him against someone old school like Finlay or Regal, but he won't have the aura of awesomeness that came from ROH, he won't have the length of matches that he has in ROH that allowed him to be the 'back-to-basics' Danielson who won matches with bodyslams and bearhugs, he won't have the moveset to allow him to use cravate suplexes and cattle mutilations, and (most importantly) he has neither the charisma, the look or the marketability that CM Punk has and which allowed him to negate the other post-ROH factors.
-
Carlito doesn't really have anything to be discussed - he's not wonderful, he's not HIDEOUSLY bad, he just sort of does stuff in the ring and sometimes you don't fall asleep.
-
If Joe doesn't win, I think TNA Creative Control had better hide in that damn cage. I'll be throwing things at them, and I'm in England.

Storm's OK in the ring, and I rather like the character. I think they've been able to hit the balance a few times and show that Storm can either be a violent drunk or an incompetent drunk, and it depends on how much he's drunk. But he has a good look, good entrance music, a couple of amusing shirts ('Save Water, Drink Beer' made me laugh), and there's been enough nastiness in his history to off-set the occasional comedy. He is a walking, talking, drinking example of why TNA needs an Intercontinental equivalent.

I agree about knowing move names. I mean, I'm not THAT bothered if somebody miscalls an inverted swinging fireman's cradle piggyback stunner or some crazy indie move like that. What I object to is things like JR calling the Whisper In The Wind the Twist of Fate, JR calling Christian's inverted DDT the Unprettier, you know. When you can't even recognise and call your wrestlers' signature moves (or miscall a signature move as his finisher, leaving you struggling when he actually hits his finisher later in the match), it really kills the product for me. And yes, I do sometimes yell at Tenay and West for miscalling moves. That's what being in a match-writing e-fed will do for you.

He signed a contract saying he couldn't sue them for injuries even if they had been negligent? Christ on a cracker, boy. I don't know how that contract stands up against the WWE ones, but, damn. I mean, I'd have expected something like you would need overwhelming evidence of negligence or something like that, but just 'no, no matter what we did, you can't sue us' would make me think twice, thrice and four times about signing.

If you threatened him with a gun to make sure he kept the in-jokes to a minimum, Nash would be great. Am I alone in really, really hating Jim Ross by the way?

TSM Town Hall: The Brand Extension - Six Years Later
Toxxic replied to Cheech Tremendous's topic in The WWE Folder
Any show/brand which does not have, and does not have any option of having a singles World Champion on it is not going to be a show worth watching. However, the fact stated above about the titles meaning nothing when wrestlers are moving around between brands and showing up here there and everywhere is true. The WWE is basically guilty of EWR Syndrome - you sign more wrestlers than you actually need, then you keep getting new ones coming up and being ready but you have nothing for them to do, and the guys on top aren't going anywhere even when they're past their best before date because a) as shit a competition as TNA is, you don't want them to get their hands on a name like Undertaker, even if he can't be called the Undertaker there, b) firing old guys doesn't make you look good to the guys who are coming towards the end of their prime, who might want to jump ship to somewhere they think will desperately hang onto them for name value, c) if you fire them or they jump, you'll be left with the young no-names that you haven't been able to build into names because the guys on top haven't let themselves be replaced. The brand split theoretically allowed more young names to come through, but if it's not rigidly adhered to it's pointless, and if it is rigidly adhered to you have a much smaller amount of people for everyone to work with. For example, the WWE as a whole could have a damn good tag division. Split it between two (three?) shows and you've got a whole lot of not much. The brand split has worked to an extent, but certainly not as well as was hoped. I wouldn't be surprised to see it disappear in the next year, although I'm by no means saying it will, or that it should. -
[Landon in character] Wow, signing Tod back was a really good move on my part! [/Landon in character]

A quick little post-match promo would be great, if not if yourself and Manson can let me know BEFORE due date what your choice of stip would be, then we won't lose any time setting up the next card while we wait to hear
-
You know, i hadn't even considered the Triple Threat possibility - it was more a case of Manson should have something to fight for, but why should it be for his partner to pick the stip? Certainly an interesting idea.

The SWF presents... DOWNWARD SPIRAL LIVE to tape/DVD from the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts at 7pm EST! MAIN EVENT 'Play To Win' Match Insane Luchador vs MANSON The Insane Luchador is on one hell of a roll - three wins on the bounce, whereas before now he's struggled to manage three matches on the bounce since his untimely death and subsequent revival. He has a locked-down, 100% certain World Title shot coming up against Michael Alexander... but the Mad Scientist Of The Mat is unavailable until late April. Do we leave Looch to cool his heels? No! We put him up against the other half of Slaughterhouse 5! Unlike IL's recent conquests, this match will play out under standard singles rules, but if he WINS... he gets to pick the stipulation in which he faces Alexander. However, if MANSON wins then HE (no, not Alexander, MANSON) gets to pick the stipulation the title match is contested under. It's worth bearing in mind that a win over someone who then dethrones the champion might stand the Raging Bull in good stead in terms of getting back into the title picture. It's time to let the fed's two veterans have at it! Rules: Standard Singles Word Limit: 5500 Send To: King Cucaracha HARDCORE Annie Eclectic vs Taiga Star Annie is Queen Bitch, Taiga is new. Annie is the Hardcore Queen, Taiga is the Hardcore Princess. They've both been talking smack - now Toxxic's had enough and took out some of his frustration at his country's appalling performance in the soccer against France by booking them against each other in a hardcore match to make them fight for his enjoyment, or at least mild amusement. Rules: Hardcore. You know, no DQ, falls count anywhere - that sort of thing Word limit: 5000 Send To: Toxxic Va'aiga vs S.I.N. S.I.N.'s winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Insane Luchador - possibly not surprising given the environment, so it's probably time to give the rookie a more relaxing encounter, no? No? No. Enter Va'aiga, 6'6 and 340lbs+ of angry Maori. How do we know he's angry? Because he's Va'aiga! The Maori Badass didn't get his fight as predicted at Battleground, so he gets to take it out on S.I.N. Can the man from the Bronx rise to the challenge of facing down a former World Champion considerably bigger than he is, or will Va'aiga LARIATOOOOOOOOOOO another opponent's chances? Rules: Standard Singles Word Limit: 5000 Send To: King Cucaracha Tod James Stuart vs Arne Andersen Stuart pulled out the win against Rik Fleihr at Battleground, but it seems the Four Norsemen are not ones to forgive or forget. It's The Enforcer Arne Andersen's turn to measure up against the former ICTV Champion - will Tod weather the storm? Rules: Standard Singles Word Limit: 4500 Send To: Toxxic The Fabulous Jakey vs KOJI Kitano Jakey's slump is going from bad to worse, and now he faces off against a former SWF Tag Champion. KOJI hasn't been in singles competition in the SWF for over two years - will Jakey be able to pull himself around here? Rules: Standard Singles Word Limit: 4500 Send To: Dace59 (send all marked matches, promos etc to Toxxic)

Yeah, and the sport doesn't exist in this country except for the kids who aren't good enough at anything else...
-
Fear not mi amigos, it's coming. I just need to hear from Landon and we'll be rolling. May I say that IL vs S.I.N. was very tough to call.
-
My problem with Hassan's in-ring work was that every move he did worked the back, until he then used the reverse STO as a finish. He used the Camel Clutch, but only ever as an out-of-match beatdown move of 'put the face in the submission and shout angrily'. If he'd built to that submission to follow on from the work he did on people's backs during the match, it'd have made a whole lot more sense.
-
In which case, I'm guessing you were making a reference that for reasons possibly related to age but more likely related to nationality, I didn't get. Btw, card will hopefully be up sometime this evening. But Landon Doesn't Do Weekends, and I've been working so I haven't really had time.
-
Do we even have people (except Wildchild and, uh, IL) who remember Mark Stevens? Taamo as commentator would be grand, although we'd need to try and find a way for him to put people over besides himself.
-
...and a jobber
-
Sort of. Conversation went roughly thusly: Tom: Sorry I haven't been writing much lately, I'll try and make sure I get something in for this show Me: That's OK, life gets busy sometimes. Is it fair to say that if you don't get anything in for this show we should assume you're too busy and take you off the active list until further notice? Tom: Yeah, that's probably best. So, we got nothing, and Tom won't be booked until he specifically states he's got time and wants to be. Ladies and gentlemen, the fed is Flesherless in any capacity for the first time in... a long time.
-
Yeah, but Tom hasn't written a thing since about early October last year (unless you count the 250 word beat of Clark) and is now being taken off the active list. I mean, if you want to do a losing streak storyline then feel free, but please PLEASE don't feel that you should let what it says in anyone's stats prevent you from beating them! All stats should do is influence HOW you go about beating them (should you choose to do so).
-
Well, at least you guys are alive. So we can put it down to bad fortune in that Va'aiga was ill as well, all of which makes booking the next card rather easier.
-
I don't autojob tildebangs.

Coming to the fed as I did in the era of Comet and Riley on commentary, I've always loved Comet despite the fact that many others say he's totally unsuited for play-by-play. Certainly a heel ELM is worth considering. ...part of me wonders whether budget cuts should lead to a Landon and Toxxic commentary team. Were it to occur in real life that would be either incredibly annoying or one of the greatest teams In The History Of Our Sport. But probably the former.
