  1. I'd just like to chip in and say that I have now relaxed my 'no finisher kickouts' rule to being something that only happens VERY VERY VERY RARELY, because I finally realised that it will have to happen occasionally just to make a better match, but as it only happens very rarely it will have the desired 'oh my God' effect. Also, I want to see an Iron Man Ultra Canadian No Holds Barred Deathmatch. Like, now.
  2. It's a problem only encountered by those who write matches. Roflcopter, ahahaha, *zing!*, etc

You heard it here first folks. Raynor's just stripped me. Damnit Chris, I told you I was only gay in character!

End of Year Awards Nomination Thread

I'm not on vacation. I'd have to be American to be on vacation. I was on holiday, and don't you forget it. However, now I'm back. And as i have another week off work without going anywhere and walking up mountains (look, they might be hills to you but they count as mountains over here) I'll sort it this week. And don't talk shit about Wales. Aecas lives there you know. *ducks*

I'm back in town and ready to fly on a Cruiserweight Title match. And I suppose we should fit a World and Tag title match in there somewhere too, goshdarn it...

I thought the ref thing was great. And you handled Matheson better than anyone except Flesher, and possibly even including Flesher.
  9. I agree with Dub-Cee - what's the problem here, exactly? What I also note is that you're saying it's hard to implement the stats that YOU have put time and effort into (and justifiably, because your first effort at a luchadore moveset was mediocre) against her, so the issue appears to be your writing rather than her stats. I mean, the only time I find it hard to write against someone is if they are at an extreme of something (such as size - trying to beat Janus with a cruiserweight isn't an easy job, even against Bruce I found myself severely limited with what moves I could pull off) or if, such as JJ Johnson vs Mike, where your opponent outclasses you on EVERYTHING (Johnson was, at least at one point, stronger, faster, tougher and better at mat wrestling and striking than Stephens. Everyone else he'd ever faced he had an advantage SOMEWHERE). Come on. Are you seriously telling us that against a five-foot something, 130lb-or-whatever wrestler you can't come up with a decent bigger vs smaller match, especially since Phantasmo is on the larger end of luchadores?

    PROMO: Ancient History IV

Atlanta, Georgia Early 2002 “I can’t believe it! I can’t fucking believe it!” Gabriel Drake shouts. He’s storming around Toxxic’s apartment, an ugly mood writ large across his face. The bigger man’s movements have a curious jerkiness to them, as if he’s constantly fighting the urge to smash things or throw things - which to be fair, wouldn’t be far from the truth. He stops suddenly and rounds on his English friend, one finger pointed accusingly at the younger man. “You promised me, you little shit!” he spits, “you promised to take care of her, not fuck her while I was gone!” “Yeah, I know,” Toxxic agrees mournfully. “Look mate, I dunno what to say. I was drunk and trust me, I’m never drinking again. Ever.” “Oh, and that’s supposed to make me feel better?” Drake asks. Toxxic shakes his head. “No, it’s meant to make me feel better,” he replies, “slightly, anyway. Look, I’m sorry man. But like I said, I was drunk an’ she was coming on to me-” “Whoah,” Gabe cuts him off, “she was coming on to you? Cos that’s not what she said!” “Yeah, well, we’ve been having that argument since we woke up in the same bed four days ago innit?” Toxxic grunts. “She’s got it in her ‘ead that I made the first move, which is a complete and utter fuckin’ lie-” “I don’t want to know,” Drake cuts him off, “I don’t want to know.” He shuts his eyes for a few seconds and takes deep breaths. Then he opens them again and looks at Toxxic. He smiles. It looks forced, but under the circumstances that’s hardly surprising. “Look, I know you didn’t mean to do what you did,” he says, “you or Livvy. I trust that about you both. It doesn’t mean that I haven’t been hurt by it, by both of you, and I can’t be with Livvy right now - I‘ve told her that. But I can live with it. I’ll cope. And I don’t want to lose either of you as friends as a result.” He looks straight into Toxxic’s eyes, and tries to smile again. “I reckon we should go out tonight, all four of us.” Toxxic’s eyes narrow. “Y’know, I dunno who yer tryin’ to kid sunshine, but it ain’t working on me,” the Englishman tells him. Gabe’s face shows confusion. “What?” “You’ve always got to be the best at everything, haven’t you,” Toxxic says, leaning on the wall and regarding the older man steadily, “you had to be the best wrestler, you had to be the best cook, you even had to get the steady girlfriend before me or Karl. But I’ll tell you something,” he continues, “you ain’t the best at being nice. That’s Karl’s gift, Gabe. He’s the Nice Guy - fuck, he’s a walking doormat. You… you’re a long way from nice, just like me. That’s why we kick arse in the ring. So don’t come with the softly-softly act to me cos it ain’t gonna work, even if you’re fooling yourself with it.” “Do you have any idea how hard this is?” Gabe grits out through his teeth, “I’m trying to keep a couple of friends after you screwed me over, and all you can do is tell me I’m a bastard!? What do you want me to do, start punching you?” “It’d make more bloody sense!” Toxxic snaps, pushing himself away from the wall. “Yeah, I’m your friend Gabe - I also fucked your girlfriend while you were gone for a week. You’re a bit bloody mardy at the best of times, don’t expect me to believe that you’re gonna be fine with that! So yeah, I’d rather you started layin’ into me now, cos otherwise yer gonna bottle it up until you explode and some day I’m gonna catch it in the fucking back!” Gabe’s hands have started to curl into fists and his breathing has quickened. Toxxic stands facing him; smaller and less obviously agitated, but stubbornly refusing to back down from the stance he’s taken. The two men stand looking at each other for several seconds… and then slowly, Gabriel Drake starts to calm down again. His mouth twitches before he can seemingly trust himself to speak, but then he manages to get some words out. “Meet at my place at eight. We’ll go out, have a nice time and…” he trails off, possible endings like forget all about this or everything will be OK sticking in his throat. In the end he settles for “…we’ll have a nice time,” and walks past Toxxic. The smaller man tenses as Drake brushes against him, but nothing happens. It’s a small apartment after all; physical contact is virtually a necessity to navigate it with more than one person inside. “I’ll be there,” Toxxic says, turning round as Gabe starts to let himself out of the door, “but I won’t be drinking.” Drake doesn’t reply; he just shuts the door behind him. “…and that’s a promise,” Toxxic says after him. His mouth twists. “I’ve gotta start keeping my promises…” To Be Concluded…

It's more meant to be not only backstory for the feud, but also an explanation as to why Toxxic became straight-edge, and why he now has such a complex about keeping promises. But if you want to ramble about socks Windy, so be it. I'm sure that's what people do when they think Coldplay are a good band.

Believe me, Amy won't write. Cos I'm going on holiday for a week on Saturday, which is why Toxx won't be booked on Storm either. ...RIGHT, RAYNOR!?

If an opponent is needed you can use Amy (although I'd appreciate it if Nighthawk were to treat her with respect rather than as a total jobber).

...you're feeding the Scion to Grappler? Holy hell Raynor, you must hate that girl.

    Kid Kash released.

They need Josh Matthews to talk about Yang's work in Korean films like The Flying Elvises.
  19. Yeah you'll end up totally destroyed in a Hardcore match I don't just learn from my mistakes... I learn from yours as well.
  20. Resign Jericho. Sign Alex Shelley. Team them up and let hilarity and great wrestling ensue. Seriously, if they teamed Jericho and Shelley up I'd never miss another WWE show with them on as long as I lived.

Dunno about that, but it might be a sign of the impending apocalypse.

Spike's straight-edge and is, therefore, better than you or Landon. However, he's not betta than Kanyon.
  24. [Nominations will close at Genesis AftershoxXx, nominations are NOT to include Genesis VII] The Jayson Grant Memorial Trophy - For Wrestler of the Year (fairly self-explanatory - who's been the best wrestler this year? Not necessarily in terms of pure results, but the most interesting character, exciting matches, angles... an overall thing) The Divefire Memorial Trophy - For Comeback Wrestler of the Year (how appropriate, seeing as he's just appeared again - who's made a comeback that made you go "wow!"?) The Pay-Per-View Match of the Year Award The Non-PPV Match of the Year Award The Feud of the Year Award (what feud really captured your imagination? What got you interested [obviously, with Genesis coming up it doesn't have to have ended yet to count]) The Jay Dawg Improvement Award - For Most Improved Wrestler (who's really stepped up this year? They might not have had massive success, but whose writing has really improved? PLEASE NOTE this award is not for rookies who debuted this year but for established wrestlers) The Axis Memorial Trophy - For Under-Appreciated Wrestler (who's the person that you always think is a good writer, but no-one else seems to get? Theoretically this award should go to the person with least votes I guess... but it won't) The Rane Memorial Trophy - For Most Impressive Career (who's the legend or outstanding writer that you feel deserves recognition? This award is for a WRITER not their character, so people who've had more than one character will be considered on the merits of ALL their characters)
  25. If necessary everyone, do what I do. Send your match to Raynor and tell him to send it to the right person when he gets around to it. Oddly enough, every show after I do that markers tend to be up much quicker You know you love me, Chris. Just a shame timezones prevent me from ever experiencing the same difficulties you have, otherwise I'd love to help out someday, honest...
