Blind Melon is one of those bands that unfortunately get remembered for one of their worst musical moments. They had a lot of good stuff going on, but everyone only remembers "No Rain".

Re: Peter not reading minds, I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't often sit thinking about how I'm lying to someone when talking to them. You just talk, you don't keep a running dialogue in your mind. I don't think it's that much of a stretch.

As a homer, I'd put game five of the Phillies/Astros 1980 series high on the list. Although it is given a boost by the greatness of the series. Still the Phillies coming back against Ryan gives the individual game some magic too.

Chuck's a surprisingly good show. It keeps getting better and better, IMO.

Thought it was a decent episode overall. The parts with Toby laughing during the deposition were really perfect, as was Michael knocking Toby's tray off. Those were the two highlights for me.

Here's a link to grab the mp3. Let me know if you don't get it. http://anyones-guess.blogspot.com/2007/11/...-not-there.html

On a whim I picked up the soundtrack to that new Dylan biopic, "I'm Not There". It's surprisingly good overall. Really aided by having Calexico as the backing band for a bunch of songs and a combo of Nels Cline, Tom Verlaine, Lee Renaldo and John Medeski for a bunch of others. Tracks that I like best so far are Tweedy's "Simple Twist of Fate", Eddie Vedder doing "All Along the Watchtower" (which was really helped by the Nels/Medeski combo playing behind him, added a lot to the music), Iron & Wine/Calexico doing "Dark Eyes" and Stephen Malkmus (sp?) doing "Ballad of a Thin Man".

I really liked both of these. Akron really made a jump with this album, IMO. It is much more cohesive and listenable overall than their others.

I think that DL was so caught off guard that he didn't have time. He did get shot before, so it keeps with his character's powers that he needs to see it coming to activate.

Hiro in Japan should be nearing an end point though. I thought that the stuff with HRG was amazing. Threatening to take the guys memories of his dead daughter was as powerful a moment as the show has had, IMO. Then wasting him anyways after he got what he wanted from him was a well writen touch. Claire and West is terrible, but at least it is moving towards a Claire/HRG conflict, which could be interesting. Overall, I liked the episode, and next week's looks like it should be a great one.

I thought that the Second Life scene might start in a direction where Pam begins to question if Jim is happy there, or if he is just in Scranton for her, leading to a Pam distancing from Jim to try and get him to move on to bigger things career wise. Jim's character has always felt like he was above being a paper salesman, so it would fit.

Parkman's father added enough that I am now back to really enjoying the show and getting excited to see where it's going. Right now I like Peter's story, the whole Nathan/Parkman/Molly/Bob/Mohinder thing, the twins with Sylar and even Micah's cousin now that they have moved that along. Not digging Hiro in the past. HRG and the Haitian could have some potential. I'm wondering if they are truely on their own, or working for someone else. Also, I wonder where HRG got the funds to pack up the family and hit the road. Insurance from their house blowing up??

Cheesala HOW could you walk away from all that? Pure comedy at its finest. Yeah, and racism does not exist either. It is easy to walk away from that. The Pit always has had a sort of train wreck appeal to it. You could pretty much say anything you wanted and usually all it did was turn up the volume on the insanity. So insane that I just HAD to invite a friend to come take a look at it. He just HAD to see what was up with as I described it: "The Glass Parking Lot Crew". Keep in mind my buddy is 10 times more civic minded than I am and knows his topics down the the smallest details. Upon his posting the volume got turned up even louder. He fucking drove them nuts. It was awesome. So awesome in fact that somebody felt they had no recourse but to fuck with his account in order to score a point. Oooh sick burn. This of course led to the Vyce quote in my sig. Your buddy was an idiot. He didn't drive anyone nuts by being awesome, he was a tool. I didn't agree with any of their points, ever, except that your friend was a douche. If he's 10 times more civic minded than you, that's not saying too much to help your own cause.

I like his one album that I have "As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls". Decent, good musicianship, but nothing that goes to another level anywhere on it.

My favorite line was when Earl said "Randy only uses a 17 letter alphabit, so I was a little surprised that he could write a better story than me." I thought that the Randy story was good and fit his character perfectly. The rest were kind of throw away bits, IMO, although the Darnell song made me think of Flight of the Conchords, which is good, I guess.

Great, great show. Really been table setting so far, but even the way they do that is interesting IMO.
-
I thought Earl was really good tonight. Much better than 30 Rock (which is usually the opposite of what I think). "Check out the vagina on Al Roker".

Howard Beware -> Ringo Buys a Rifle -> Life is Shit makes this album for me. Smokin' Banana Peels too. I love that song so much I bought the EP where the first 5 songs are versions of SBP.

The casual Prince shirt was awesome.

Just because I spent the last 4 hours at a bar discussing it...

My first choice would be the Allman Brothers when Duane was still alive. Second the Hendrix calls, Floyd and Zeppelin. I got to see Metallica, GNR, FNM, Primus, Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots. They were all good to great for those who were listing them. -
The Eagles what if I have is "What if Randall didn't break his leg. It was the Eagles strongest team by far and when he went down, so did their chances."

Movie moments that gave/give you chills *Spoilers throughout*

Really, from that moment on through Chief smothering Jack is one that never fails to get me. -
I really like the entire second disc of Cold Roses. (well, I get them confused, the one with the song Cold Roses on it, I like all of that disc). The other disc has some weak points, but still is listenable the whole way through.
-
I enjoy Cold Roses more than Heartbreaker even. I think it's a really solid album.

So, it looks like Knocked Up is going to beat Ocean's 13 at the box office and may hold on to do better than FF. I didn't see that coming.
