What films are you anticipated for in 2009?

anticipating + excited for = anticipated for ? -
I can't get Bon Iver for some reason. The singing/songwriting just doesn't do it for me at all.
-
There's supposed to be new Wilco in 2009, right? If so, that.
-
Is it going to be a "Ritz" only movie, or is it going to be at more theaters in the area?
-
I liked Mellow Gold enough back in the day, thought Odelay was pretty good and actively enjoyed One Foot in the Grave. I haven't paid much attention to him past then though.

I agree about how it would be nice to have an episode with no Fulcrum. It's gotten to the point where any new character I basically expect to be an agent. It's also a long time until the next episode. Boo. As a side, Sarah could kill as many people as she wanted, and I'd stick with her....

I read about this elsewhere. It seems that there are some losers out there who watch and track the Price enough to know the value of items they put up for bid. One was in the audience and shouted out the answer, which is why the producers tried to figure out if rules were violated.

Is anyone else interested enough in the "alt.country" genre to discuss it separately? Please note that I do not like the name "alt.country", but seems to be the most recognized describer. I'm thinking about this while re-discovering the Jayhawks - Tomorrow the Green Grass and remembering how I love it so.

Constructive Summer by the Hold Steady is a really good song, but "Slapped Actress" is the best song off their album this year. I also really enjoy Time to Pretend by MGMT. I don't love the band, but that's a good song. But as said above, this list is blah at best.

How was it? Really good. Wilco's set was longer and more adventurous than I expected it to be with them opening. They tore it up on Spiders. The audience was more receptive than I expected too. Neil Young was good too, but it did grow a bit tiresome. He doesn't really take the songs to anywhere new and you can only hear so many distortion guitar solos before they start to blend together a bit.

Neil Young with Wilco opening tonight. Pretty excited as I've enjoyed both a ton in the past when I've seen them.

Well, he did basically do the soundtrack/score for "Over the Hedge" and I thought that worked out really well. I'm a Ben mark, so I'm holding out hope that he'll turn it around and this album was a result of him getting bitter over a messy divorce (note, I have no idea if his divorce was messy or not, I'm just hoping it was to add to his bitterness and increase my own level of hope in a potential turn around, whew).

6 Albums that I enjoyed this year (note, there are others, but these were the first to spring to mind): The Hold Steady - Stay Positive REM - Accelerate The Roots - Rising Down Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes Dr. Dog - Fate My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges 1 Album I had hoped would be great or at least good but ended up hating: Ben Folds - Way to Normal

I really think that the Haitian is going to be the key (which they gave away already when Ma Patrelli thought she killed Pa). Other than him, the sides are way off. Unless the tasers can put down Pa Patrelli.

Yeah, I would like to see Jimmy stick around. I like how him understanding Dexter a bit is changing the Dexter character. Keeps him fresh.
-
I love Closing Time. The lounge feel to the album is more in line with the type of music I like though. I enjoy most of the rest (especially Rain Dogs), but Closing Time is my favorite by a good margin.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

I saw two different "Green Man" costumes during the Phillies parade and one out at a bar on Halloween night. -
This show continues to amaze, as it keeps getting better IMO. I could possibly see a problem in the future if Prado finds out Dexter killed Oscar. I hope they don't go that route, but who knows. Also, I really hope they don't have Quinn be the skin cutting killer. That would be one time too many for the killer they're following to be connected to Dexter/Deb. Although with all the set up, I do expect the Quinn/Deb's a narc story to go someplace. Just a really good season so far.

2008 World Series: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Tampa Bay Rays
C Dubya 04 replied to Bored's topic in Sports
I may be overly optimistic, but I like the match up tonight. I don't think Myers will be dominant, but I really think that the Phils can get to Shields. Hopefully early. I don't think Ballfour would be available tonight, would he? -
2008 World Series: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Tomorrow could be massive for the Phils though. On a relief note for me personally, I got tickets to Game 5, so either I get to see a World Series game, or the Phils are World Champs. Awesomeness. -
You know, Nicole Ritchie was surprisingly competent on the last episode of Chuck. I thought she was even really good in that role. And looked better than I think she usually does. Chuck's been very enjoyable this year overall. Hopefully it sticks around for a few more years.

I go to beerleaguer.typepad.com just about every day for Phillies stuff. I also agree that Kissing Suzy Kolber is great. Although I don't know that I'd even call it a sports blog, it's pretty much a humor blog based around the NFL.

Silver is cute, but scary skinny. Also, the episode this week was terrible. It committed the worst sin that one of these shows can do. It was boring.
-
Okay, Fate by Dr. Dog has become my favorite album of the year. I'd advise though, if you don't like the Beatles, stay away. Also, I'm enjoying the new Hold Steady album just fine. They're not the deepest shit ever, but they do make very listenable rock music. Something can definitely be said for that.

I am surprised there wasn't as huge of a dropoff in Hour 2 as I expected. But excellent ratings for a CW show and I don't think there should be a huge ratings drop next week when other shows premiere One thing I didnt get about Silver is if most of her unhappiness is based on the fact that her dad cheated on her mom and they got divorced, why would she want to be reminded of her Dad's last name? If she didn't use Silver, it wouldn't have been obvious to the viewer that she's David's sister. I'm sure they didn't put any other deep thoughts into it.
