It almost seemed like Bo didn't give a shit during the first song. I think that he knew he was going to nail that second one (and he did). His second song might have been the most impressive of the year. Simon really took it easy on Vonzell after the first one. He could have destroyed her, but I think that he used better judgement. It looked like she might not have made it back out if he had. I say the little white guy goes tonight. Oh yeah, if they were doing the sounds of Philly, how was "Parents Just Don't Understand" left out. They obviously ran out of Gamble and Hoff songs, so they needed to have one Will Smith song. Or the Dead Milkmen. "Punk Rock Girl" would have been a nice surprise.

Well, I don't think that a grenade was actually thrown anyways. One had been discovered earlier in the day, and no one was notified.

Whoa. Don't like that a little bit. And I'm a big fan of hers.

Going off of memory, I'd say that Miami really became a power at the beginning of the 80's. They haven't really sucked for any long periods since then, although towards the end of the 90's they weren't as good.

Well, in addition to print ads, you could also argue that stories covered by television reports are geared towards ratings. Whatever generates the highest ratings is what is shown. More of the media Bia$.

Thanks Al. Now, the Phillies could not change pitchers again, right? I think that's where I got confused. Also, have you heard any details on Tim Worrell? I only caught briefly that he's caught a spot of the crazy, but is there anymore to it than that right now?

I think that Jones was eventually awarded the gold wasn't he? That was some bullshit though. I still remember watching that. Also from the Olympics you'd have to throw in the refs giving the Soviets three chances to beat the US in the gold medal game.

I play in a pick up basketball league at the Y. For getting games together with friends, basketball is definitely the easiest too. I agree about the football thing. We had a regular Sunday game for a couple of years, but then half the guys moved away and it kind of fizzled. It was really nice having 12 to 18 guys for a game though.

Question for Al.... I don't know if you saw the Phillies game or not last night, but Madsen was pitching and I was only half paying attention, so I don't know the names, but what happened was this. Manuel waiting until a left-handed pinch hitter was announced and then put in Cormier. The Brewers then changed to a right handed pinch hitter. I didn't think that you were allowed to do this. What is the actual rule?

DiMeola does some sick Acoustic playing though. I think that it's one thing to shread on an electric when you have all that action, but to play as fast as he does on acoustic blows my mind. He did a live album with McLaughlin (see, I learn) and Paco DeLuca (sp?) that is worth quite a few listens. As for Holdsworth, I think that he was always wayyyyy ahead of his time. I took guitar lessons when I was young, and my teacher was always all about Alan. Guy did a lot of amazing things.

So, what is this now. 6 straight playoff games are blowouts? I think that if these series continue the way they are, next round could be a classic. It really does seem like 4 teams are night and day ahead of the others.

I've been working my way through "The Eden Express" by Mark Vonnegut. It's a personal account of schizophrenia. Interesting read.

Wow, off Rip's head on a dunk gets called as a no basket?

It looked much better on Don Johson.

I don't really think that the Killers are all that great, but "Mr. Brightside" is a song that I like a lot.

Hmmm. I'm going to go with my top five guitarists of all time. But I couldn't decide order. Alan Holdsworth Al DiMeola Duane Allman John McGlaughlin Stanley Jordan (Alright, I know that Jordan doesn't belong in the top five, but I've been on a big kick listening to him lately, and the stuff he does is pretty much mind blowing)

From the first post, I gotta disagree. I think that Jack's majors record is easily within Tiger's reach. He's halfway there and I think that he's either 29 or 30. With Tiger's conditioning and golf in general, Tiger is likely to have up to 15 more productive years. That is not even a major a year to set the record. I think that Tiger will pull it off. I think that he's always listed that as a goal.

I forgot this game was even on. After how underwhelming last nights games were, I guess I just got apathetic.

Yo, fucked up shit with that girl getting killed. I graduated UD in 2000. Best times of my life down there. For the Pacers/Celtics, it seems to be a complete crapshoot. I would have never expected the Celtics to clobber Indy in Indy without Walker, so who knows what will happen. Pacers/Pistons is certainly an appealing series though.

Korver got as bad a matchup as he could have gotten, as he had Tayshaun Prince to contend with. You know, almost everyone who watches basketball that isn't named Jim O'Brien realized this as well. In regards to the Dalembert comments above, I agree that he has been developing nicely, but Joe D can't snatch him up yet, as he is under contract with the Sixers for one more year I believe, and they will def. make it a priority to resign him. And, one more spare comment, Iverson this year moved into the realm of athletes that I will never forget watching, and will tell my children about when I'm an old man.

I'm actually a huge fan of Cold Case. I really like how they flashback to the characters as they were when the murder occurred during the rest of the show. That was what first stood out for me with this show. Also, the show always uses music heavily. They had a Johnny Cash episode that was tied into a prison story and will use music from the time period during all flashbacks. Last night's episode was well done, especially the end with the Rocky credits.

This new album by Ben Folds is enjoyable, but way too bland to be compared to his earlier work, particularly with the Five.

Good question. Magic could realistically be argued for number 1 all time. Bird was an incredible player, but not quite up to that level.
-
A couple of random points, since I think that it is impossible to compare players across the generations as the game has completely changed. I'd put the Iceman ahead of Robinson on the all-time Spur list. And Robinson would not be near the top ten for me. Although he was a hella good ball player. Personally I would take Magic overall number 1 if I was drafting an NBA team. He was so good and also so versital. He played every fucking position at one point or another, including when he filled in for an injured Kareem and torched the Sixers to clinch a final. I would call Jordan the best player though. He did things that no one else could do, was clutch as all hell and made everyone else on his team better. I can't really talk on Wilt having seen nothing but grainy surveilance footage of him playing. He was a dominant force though.

I've always said, it's Philadelphia & Pittsburgh with Alabama in the middle. Now I have proof. Long live Pennsyltucky.
