Yeah I guess, as long as the main engine is fluid. It doesn't have to be deep, it just has to be fast and fun. When I talk about hating gimmicks, I'm mainly referring to the stupid press a button to change fighting styles nonsense. It killed the flow and made the game feel jerky and disjointed, I really didn't like it. My ideal MK would be one with the speed and fun of MK3 but in a 3D world, but I have my doubts that they'd be able to pull that off. At least they should give people their signature moves back and make the game feel like an MK. A lot of people praised MK:DA for getting away from that, but imo it just felt like a really bad "serious" fighter that was worse than TK2/VF2, and it didn't have any of the MK soul.

So there's no real info on gameplay yet? That's all that really matters to me at this point. MK:DA was conceptually cool as hell, but it sucked horribly to play. Hopefully this will at least be up to like DOA level. I'm not expecting a masterpiece, but a solid engine that's not bogged down by stupid gimmicks would be nice. Edit: Online? Neat. If that's actually there and actually works w/o lag, I might even buy this.

Meh, I'm pretty good at SC2. I tend to get stupidly good at little diversion arcade games too. I'm the best player I've seen at Striker 3 and Gamshara. Too bad I'll probably never see Gamshara again.

I'm sure if KOR sees this he can testify that SC series has it's balance issues too. Nod. Ivy, Xianghua, Cervy, Yoshi and Sophie are pretty much acknowledged to be the best characters, with lots of advantageous matchups and few if any disadvantageous ones, while Yunsung is dramatically underpowered, and is at a significant disadvantage against any other character. SC2 is still considered to be a fairly balanced game, but it's far from perfect. No fighter is. I didn't really play competitive SC1, but I heard that Cervy was pretty overpowered there, too. I think you can make a lot of arguments against MK, but I don't think balance is a very strong one. I mean, of the 2D fighters in the competitive rotation now, CvS2, MvC2 and GGXX are all totally unbalanced if you look at the entire roster. You're just not going to see a high level Servbot beating a high level Magneto, or a high level May beating a high level Eddie. I won't even pretend to know anything about tourney level MK, but I doubt it could be much worse balance-wise.

Meh, I love it, I loved old school Taker and hate stupid Bikertaker, I've been waiting for this for a long time. It's obviously not realistic or logical, but it's fun, and that's something that Taker hasn't been ever since his 2000 return.

Just got back from seeing the show live... hated it. Like, I seriously was bored out of my mind. The assholes behind me screaming stupid shit like "VAGINA!" every ten seconds didn't help, but still, it was just a boring show. The crowd was totally dead, although I can't exactly blame them since nothing happened to get them excited. No fun promos, no good matches, meh total waste of time. I'm usually marking out for these things live no matter how bad they are too, so this was really spectacularly awful. Indeed, RVD was on Heat, in a heatless match against some guy I hadn't heard of (not a jobber, he had an intro, Jon something? Not sure). Wasting him on Heat was stupid. Pop of the night went to the Taker tease, which was the only thing I really marked out for. Pretty damn cool. Only other big pop really was for Austin. Even Foley and Shawn got pretty subdued reactions, but I think by then we all just wanted to go home. I admit the show did a good job building for WM20, but in terms of actually being fun to watch, it didn't deliver at all.

Isn't SvC Chaos supposed to be horrible? It's a shame about Metal Slug 3 though, might have bought that.

Yeah, Kayane is a thirteen year old French girl that's probably the best Talim player in the world, and the second best player in France. Dan the Nightmare is probably the most famous SC player in the world and dominated SC1 to near Justin Wong levels, but Kayane beats him as often as not in French tourneys. Pretty amazing. I was terrible at everything when I was that age.

Meh the best active SC2 player in Pennsylvania is a girl. What difference does it make? As long as you're losing to a good player, it shouldn't matter if they're a girl or not. And US is probably the best country at SC2, us or France, we'll know after worlds in three weeks. Asia doesn't really play though. Shrug.

My PS2 has worked perfectly since I bought it, about six months after launch. My roommates, otoh, only works when it's upside down. It still seems to work okay (although it loads slow), but it looks funny, heh.
